Chapter 27
~~~YOU~~~
Serena's POV
While tugging my black skirt down, I cautiously walked behind Dawn and White, who were chatting about the variety of movies we had to choose between.
"Let's watch a romcom!" Dawn thought out loud.
"Do you think the guys would like that?" White asked. "Besides, why wouldn't we watch something more entertaining, like horror."
"No horror movies," Dawn stated. "And why is that entertaining? It's scarier with those ghosts and monsters" she shivered.
"Because" White grinned. "It's fun seeing you scream at every jump scare. You know, you literally jumped off the couch the other time."
"It was scary,"Dawn whined.
"It was during a commercial break."White laughed." The film hasn't even started and you were freaking out."
"Well, it was scary."
"It was a commercial about gummy bears, Dawn," White said. "Gummy bears."
"There jelly is filled with evilness," Dawn commented.
I wasn't quite interested after as I continuously kept tugging at my clothes to cover more skin. I was forced to wear it to look more girly. Because hoodies aren't made for a woman, am I right? I sighed.
I don't like short clothes, not because they are ugly or something. It's because it makes me feel uncomfortable and exposed to others. And besides, I'm wearing a skirt, one windflaw and that thing flies upwards! Oh the humility, that could come if that happens. Men peeping and woman giggling and talking behind their hands. The thought of it gives me shivers, already.
I guess I was thinking too much that I got behind in quite a distance long. Once, I went around the corner, I saw that the girls already met with the guys. I frowned.
I don't know why but sometimes I really think that coming back was a bad idea. I thought that coming back would change certain things. I got new friends, interesting ones indeed. And one came back from the dead, okay, he wasn't dead. But you get the point.
Yet, I can't help to feel lonely. I'm surrounded by people, isn't weird to feel like that? I feel like I'm suffocating by others yet lonely. Man, that sounds complicated. But I don't want to feel like that. At all.
It's just something I can't help but feel. That all of them secretly hate me and just think I'm a burden. I don't feel sad, rather very empty. It's like having a life without purpose, without a reason to live. Would it make any difference in what I feel if I stand there or here? I wonder would it make any differences if I wasn't a-
"Hé," I felt a sudden weight on my shoulder, I looked at the owner of the hand. And realized it was Paul. "you okay?"
"W-wait!" I panicked. "What are you doing here?!"
"It is kind of boring being staying inside, alone" He shrugged off.
"Where's Lady?!"
"She is here," He said as he motioned to Lady on the ground and the dog lace in his hand." why are you so stressed?"
I rubbed my forehead and sighed." It's nothing,"
"Did you take your tea in the morning?" he asked as Lady rubbed her head against my knee. I scratched her behind her ear as her tail wiggled side to side. She raised her head, with her damp nose in the air. Her mouth open with her tongue stuck out. She looked happy and, so cute~, I gave her a small smile, before turning back to Paul.
"No, I forgot."
He frowned." Serena, I put some medicine for your dizziness and nausea."
"Not only that," I mumbled.
"What?"
"Not only that, right?" I said louder.
"What do you mean?" He asked as clueless as ever.
"I know what you put in it, Paul." I gritted my teeth a bit."You also put Tetracyclic antidepressant, didn't you?"
"What is that?"
I clenched my fists. "I found the packing in the garbage can, Paul" I glared at him."Don't lie to me."
He sighed deeply. " The therapist sai-"
"I don't need it," I interrupted him. "I get it, you want to look out for me. But don't do something that I don't want! I don't need medication! I can take care of myself."
"Okay," He sighed again, knowing there's no way I'll give in." Shall we just forget and forgive?"
I just nodded.
"Where is Dawn?" he asked, looking for the blue-haired girl.
"Over the-," I stopped when I realized they weren't standing there anymore. "Oh, maybe they are already inside."
"Then come on,"He pushed me a bit forward. "You don't want to miss the movie, right?"He grinned before jogging his way inside.
"Besides I want to see the guy who you slept with."
"What?"I asked, staring at Paul who's is getting closer and closer to the cinema.
.
.
.
.
"No!Wait!Paul!" I ran into the cinema, frankly searching for Paul, who is nearing the group.
"Okay, this may sound weird, but does one of you guys know Serena and had-" Before he finished that sentence I jumped on his back with my hand firmly against his mouth.
"Serena?!" They yelled in shock.
"Hey guys," I said while struggling to hold Paul shut. "What's up?"
"Sere, what are you doing?" Ash asked.
"Oh just trying to get this guy to shut up." I murmured. Poor me though, he threw me back when he got free. I landed on the ground with a thud. Lady stood beside me as she nudged me with her nose against my arm. I patted her, indicating I'm fine.
"You're crazy," Paul scowled as he pulled me up.
"I'm crazy!" I shouted at him. "You were about to ruin my entire social life."
"You got one?" He asked.
"You little-" I pulled back by White as I was trying to strangle him.
"Okay, okay, enough you two," White told us, sternly. "Stop fighting like little kids, you are adults."
"But, White," I whined. "He was going to -"
"No," White interrupted. "We are civilized people, who are normal. So act like it!"
"Okay," I murmured.
"Define normal," Paul said.
"Can I please kill him?" I glared at him, he just put an arm around the lightly blushing Dawn, unamused.
"No,"
"Not even bruise his face a little." I pleaded.
"No, Serena."
"Fine," I pouted as I turned to Paul. "Go buy some popcorn."
"Why me?"
"Because I said so,"
"Fine," he muttered getting his arm off Dawn and making his way towards the snack bar, where they sell, popcorn, sweets, chips and choco-" No chocolate!"
I pouted again and crossed my arms, over my agitated stomach."No chocolate," I nagged.
"Okay," Gary trailed off." Who's that?"
"My brother,"
They both choked on air, looking shocked."Your brother?!"
"Got a problem with that?" I glared at them.
"Well no, but," Ash stammered. "just surprised."
"That guy looks like scary serial-killer?!" Gary exclaimed." and he is your brother! How is that possible?!"
"Hé Gary,"
"What?"
"Shut up!"
"Dawn, what happened?" Ash whispered to her. " Sere looks a little on the edge."
I looked at them while holding my arms wide. "I can hear you!"
Dawn shrugged it off. "Apparently, Paul found her diary-"
"Journal," I corrected.
"-Journal and refuses to give it back, causing this one here," She gestured to me."To chase him around the house and wake us up in progress."
"Were they yelling?" Gary asked.
"That, and Serena's duck slippers made an annoying quacks-sound every step she took." White finished.
"I told you I am sorry," I regretted. "you didn't have to say it to them."
"Don't be such a downer, Sere," Ash said, giving me a side-hug. "A little bird once told me it's bad for your health."
"Really," I glared at him.
"Stop looking at me like that," He stepped back. "You're giving me the goosebumps,"
"Idiot," I muttered while crossing my arms again.
"Are you okay?" He asked, out of the blue. "You look a little-"
"Ashy!" An unknown voice yelled and attacked Ash from behind. Causing him to almost buckle over and bump into me, Dawn pulled me back and stood behind me.
Out of my curiosity, I forgot to say thank you and to cringe, because, Ashy, bleh. Turned my head a little to the side and saw a blue-haired girl standing behind him, arms wrapped around him. I pointed to the girl behind him. "Is she a, uh, fan-girl?"
"N-"
"Who are you calling here a fan-girl?" The girl stepped back, her hands on her hips as she looked at me.
And pure shock came over me as my mouth hang a little open and my stomach felt like it was stabbed by a knife, causing me to place my hand on it. Those red-brown eyes.
"He is dead."
"Who is she?"
"Don't you remember her?" Ash asked. "It's Serena."
I could tell by her silence that my name did not ring a bell. He continued, "Remember her? She was in our class in 5th and 6th grade."
"Serena?" She asked before her eyes widened and she hugged me. She pulled away quickly, though. Luckily. "Serena, remember it's me-"
"Miette," I interrupted, gripping the fabric of my shirt, because of the immense cramp I felt. "You." I swallowed. "How are you doing?" Woah, I smiled with the most struggle I had in years.
"I'm doing perfectly excellent." She told me with the most radiant smile I have ever seen.
Stab.
"I'm now a professional dancer,"
Stab. "Miette," I called out, almost feeling my insides turn upside down. Please, Please, Please, not now.
"I and my team are almost four years at the top." She continued.
Stab. "Miette," I said again as Dawn stood beside me, seeing my almost to-be humiliating act.
And then she went to hug Ash's side. "And don't forget my amazing boyfriend."
"Oh no," I muttered, putting a hand in front my mouth. I tasted the sour taste already. Clutching my stomach as I felt that in a few seconds my stomach will be emptied.
"Come on," Dawn pulled me along and rushed me towards the woman toilet. And then it seemed like everything in me all of a sudden just came out, and I vomited. Again. Dawn held my hair and rubbed my back. "Okay, let it out."
I finally stopped, breathing as hard as ever. Feeling totally relieved, but then again totally embarrassed for almost throwing up in public.
"Oh my god." I exhaled. Dawn helped me up and brought me to the sink. When I washed my face, I muttered, "Did I just-"
"Yep,"
"Does that mean-"
"I think so."
"Oh dear God."
"You could say that again." She said as she handed me some paper to clean my face.
"Do you think I offended her?" I dried my face. "Or Ash?"
"No, no, no." She stopped, looking up at me with a slightly apologetic smile. "Maybe."
I frowned and looked at my own reflection in the mirror. I looked like walking dead. Absolutely horrible.
I look weak.
The unknown frustration came up as I gripped the sink harder and felt a huge desire to cry. I hate it! I pushed it back though and breathed in.
"Why me?" I cried as I rubbed my stomach and Dawn hugged me. "I hate my life!"
"I don't know if have to say this," Dawn mumbled as I pulled back.
"What?" I sniffed.
"Uhhhh-"Her lips tilt down, and she looks away from me, shaking her head. "Yeah, nevermind. It will only make you feel worse."
She tried to walk past me, but with one arm I brought her back in front of me. "Tell,"
"M-okay," She gave in." When you jumped on Paul's back, you, uh, you-"
"Dawn," I said as she squeezed her eyes shut. " What i-"
"Your skirt went up!" She yelled out.
"Wha-"
"Your skirt went up when you jumped on Paul's back!" She held her arms close to herself, in some defensive pose."Sorry!"
"First of all, calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." I rubbed her arms as she relaxed. "And second of al-WHAAAAAAA~"
(T▽T)
Meanwhile:
Paul walked up towards the others with a bucket with popcorn and a chocolate bar. He looked towards the awkward group of people and the two girls, which are both someone who is dear to him, gone. And a new girl.
"Okay," He said as he grabbed another handful of popcorn."What is going on? And where are Dawn and Serena?"
"Who are you?" Miette sneered at the random guy who just came up to them.
"I wasn't speaking to you." He said as he turned to White. "Speak."
"Serena's stomach acted up again," White sighed. "I guess bringing her along today wasn't a good idea."
"I told her," He shrugged as he chewed. "But that wank-, sorry Idiot, didn't listen." He handed White the bucket of popcorn, still having his hand full with some, he turned around towards the others. "And who are you?"
"I'm Gary motherfu-"
"Okay, we got a pervert." Paul interrupted. "Next,"
"I'm Ash, " he introduced himself. "And this is Miette."
With Paul looking a good moment at the two, he said," You're kidding me, right?"
"Wait, what?" Ash asked as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"You're not telling me you're Ash, Ash Ketchum." He exclaimed in total shock."And you are Miette, Miette Poffle."
"Yes, we are," Ash said uncertainly, maybe because this guy was beginning to be pissed off.
"What in the bloody hell?!" Paul exclaimed, crushing his popcorn in his hand. He walked towards Serena and Dawn who just came out of the bathroom and grabbed Serena by the arm and dragged her outside. "Sis, you have a lot explaining to do!"
The harsh tone of his voice led the poor nauseous girl to believe this wasn't going to be easy.
Lady just walked after them, not knowing what had happened. And Dawn walked after them not wanting to know what's is going to happen.
.
.
.
"Bloody-" Miette raised an eyebrow. "-hell?"
"I wasn't even done," Gary muttered, before speaking loud enough for them to hear. "Poor Serena though."
"Yeah," Ash muttered, suddenly feeling less excited to watch the movies.
"Anyways," White shuffled away and ran after she pushed the bucket into Ash's arms. "I'm going after them, to look if she is okay and stuff, so, yeah, bye!"
"Text me if she is okay!" Ash yelled.
Then there were only three of them. Two of them turned towards the brown haired guy.
"Guys, seriously," Gary whined, but he still got the silent treatment."You know what I'll go and you'll beg for me to come back. "
He left.
"Yay!" Miette cheered. "Does this count as a date?!"
Ash tried to respond only for him to get the bucket of popcorn taken from his hands.
"I'll take this," Gary stated as he left in a dramatic way.
Now, he left.
