Chapter 21

~~~ The toture~~~
Serena's POV
It was pitch black; I was as blind as if my eyes had been stolen. My body was cold, so cold. Only one thing was the object of light in this dark, yet familiar room, that was the light from a small window, maybe it was midnight which explained the lack of light. The light shines on something glittering as if it was a jewel or a piece of metal.
I carefully walked my way over and the closer I got the more anxious I became. I saw exactly what it was, chains covered in blood, attached to the ceiling. Drop after drop the blood fell down. A rilling shiver went down my spine when I stepped back. As if I knew there was a presence behind me somewhere. The force of the presence pressed in on me as I fought the urge to turn around. But I did and stepped back again, sinking myself in the shadow as I silently watched.
Somehow the light never leaves my body and I couldn't move. My body was hanging, my toes could barely touch the ground as I struggled. But there was no movement at all as if all my energy out of my body was drained and my back started burning right from the base of my spine to the tailbone. What was going on? I asked myself. I couldn't move my hands without feeling the restriction of the cold metal around my wrists.
The approaching footsteps became louder and louder indicating the person's closeness. The air around me became thick and dry, it suffocates me. Slowly, I felt my throat gone dry and sore; every lungful of air takes more need of water and energy from my body. There is a pain in the back of my head that threatens to grow into a powerful migraine, a warning that dehydration isn't far away. My stomach desired for food.
He came out of the shadows, I saw his black shoes standing and his whip with the oh-so-painful little metal that cut deep through my flesh hanging in the light and fear rushed through my veins.
"Welcome back, princess." He said. I wanted to move my head up and look at him if it was really him. To know if I was back, back in my personal cell. Some part of my brain knew I was sleeping and that I couldn't be back, I just couldn't.
He came closer and I saw his hand making his way towards my arm. I do everything to move my arm, but it stays still. His fingers caress over my forearm, while I hang still, paralysed. Only the short breaths were the only fact that I was living. I want to scream, but I don't find the strength. I was exhausted, in pain and eager for some liquid of any sort.
"Look up," He demanded. I kept my head low, I had no strength to face upwards neither had I the intention to look at his face.
Without a warning, he harshly grabbed my chin and pulled it up. His grip so harsh that there was a possibility that I could have a bruise on that spot. My eyes wander everywhere, but I just couldn't focus on his face. He was merely a blurry image without a face. I blinked a couple of times and now I could only make out his eyes. As I looked into his dark grey eyes, all of a sudden I felt, a soul-shattering chill. I saw something else that others don't see, something not human, staring back at me. I don't quite recognize what, but it was something dark and powerful, something that truly, deeply frightened me.
"I love you,"
The sound of his voice made me whimper and I tighten my hold on the chain, causing them in return to make a clinking sound. I squeezed my eyes shut. My blood turned cold in my veins and a shiver ran down my spine.
My scalp suddenly burned as he grabbed the back off my hair roughly, pulling my head back so I had to look up at him. "Don't mumble, Princess, you know I don't like that," he growled, pulling hard on my hair, making me grit my teeth against the pain that was shooting through my scalp. I didn't say anything, I wanted to tell him that but I couldn't.
He smelled funny. I realize now that his breath smelled like alcohol- whiskey, maybe. If my fear hadn't increased to its maximum it did when he walked behind me.
"It's fun time," He murmured in my ear. I tensed.
I heard his footsteps walking further till they came to a halt. I could hear the whip being tapped on the ground behind me.
The next thing I knew, I felt the searing pain of the whip lashing against my back. I screamed. My throat and my back burned from the pain.
"Tell me you love me or else you are getting five lashes for your punishment," He yelled and before I had a chance to answer, I felt the searing pain of another slash on my back.
"Two," he yelled hitting me again with the whip across my back. Tears began to stream down my cheeks as blood flow down my back.
"Three," He yelled. I felt dizzy and lightheaded from feeling such a great pain. I couldn't hold it.
"Four," The pain on my back became numb to my feeling the cool air from the window sting my wounds. I couldn't feel anything anymore.
"Five,"
My eyes snap open and all I see is black. I quickly sit up and check my hands of any restrains. My cheeks were wet and my body was bathed in a cold sweat. I panted. The sheets were twisted around my limbs, probably because I was thrashing in my sleep. My heart pounded against my chest. I was a shaking mess.
The room was entirely dark. No light anywhere, not even through the curtains could I see anything. The remains of the nightmare still clung to my mind, haunting me. I feared the feeling of him standing there somewhere luring in de endless darkness of the room. An unfamiliar sound went through my ears and the sight of him occupied my mind. I let out a silent cry and jumped my way towards the farthest end of the bed. Even my breaths quivered. I swallowed and once again turned to see the endless darkness of the room. And I saw nothing.
It felt way too real, his cold touch still lingers around my arm and I could feel the stinging sensation of every hit. I quickly rub my arm, somehow getting away of the tingling coldness that I once felt on my arm. I sighed and climbed out of the bed my throat hurts and my tongue felt dry. I needed water.
Just then when I stepped out of the bed, I noticed that I slept in Ash's bed instead of the couch, where I dozed off. Did he place me here? I wondered.
