Chapter 44 : It Was Perfect
That one rule that his daughter had to follow was not to fall in love with Munro's son, and yet, he witnessed it broken clear as day. He could feel his blood boiling and smoke coming out from his ears, especially when he watched how Oddey was playing on Gage's hair then the young man took the girl's hand and kissed it which made the Juliet blush.
"Oh, don't forget your two o'clock meeting with mister..." Eva looked up and noticed that his attention was somewhere else. "Leon?" She then leaned to see what he was looking at. "Oh, my God."
Leon turned away and had this disturbed expression on his face. "Is that my daughter with Adrian's... son?"
"Calm down," the woman told him. This was what she was afraid of, and it was happening, but she had no idea what to do about it since it was already happening then and there.
The appalled CEO glanced at her with immediate doubts. "Do you know about this?"
"I..." Eva stammered.
"You do." Leon could tell from the woman's face that his suspicion was correct. He quickly turned to the door again and was about to get out to grab his daughter away from her boyfriend.
"Leon, don't!" The assistant managed to stop the distraught boss from doing something crazy and that was getting out of the car in the middle of a highway.
"Let me go!"
Luckily, the light turned green. "DRIVE!" she screamed to the driver, so he did that the car began moving like it was a race.
Leon punched the door out of rage as they had to leave the scene. Since then, he did not utter anything until they got to the hotel.
Eventually, they got to the suite with the enraged father slamming the door open with Eva following him behind, ready to face his fury of confrontation. "She..." He huffed, then began pacing back and forth. "How could she do this to me?"
"Leon, please. I know you're angry, but..." Eva tried to calm down the situation so that he could hear her out.
"Odette lied to me! And you lied to me!" He snapped. "Not only that, she disobeyed me, and you KNEW ABOUT IT!"
"I'm sorry."
"That's all you have to say? Sorry?"
"Well, I'm sorry that you have to find out this way. It just... Happens."
"NO!" Leon shouted. "IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE!! I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! How long has this been going on? Tell me!"
"It was before you told her about you and Adrian," Eva revealed. "But listen to me, that young man does not know that Odette is your daughter."
"I don't care about that now. I just want their relationship to END!"
"How? They're in love."
"If I had to drag her in the middle of the night and put her in an airplane back to Dubai, I would."
"Leon, that's too much," Eva scolded.
"I refuse to accept that boy to be involved with my daughter," Leon grunted.
"Well, we can't do anything about it now. I'll admit that what Odette is doing is wrong because she's lying to that young man's face to be with him, but you have no say in who she can or can't love."
"Maybe not, but I'm sure as hell can stop it."
The personal assistant could not believe what that man was saying. "What do you mean? What are you going to do?"
Leon didn't answer at first and gazed down blankly at his desk. "Whatever I can. Whatever I can to split them up."
Eva was getting scared of what he could do just to get what he wanted. So she dashed to him and held his face to look towards her. "Leon, I'm begging you to stay out of it."
The man pulled away from her and then shook his head. "I can't..."
"Then what about this? Let's all talk to her first. Calmly," She suggested as she looked at him in the eyes. However, Leon still seemed hesitant. "Please, Leon. Please."
"Alright," He accepted her request reluctantly.
----
It was nearly midnight, and the couple just got back from CarmU. Gage parked his car outside the campus.
The two got out of the car, but then the Romeo had to get his stuff from the back. Once he opened the car door, a small parcel fell out. When he picked it up, he suddenly remembered something.
"Oddey," He called to her. "Come in here for a second?"
"Yeah? What is it?" Oddey went to him.
Gage showed her the small wrapped box to her. "I almost forgot about this."
"What's this?"
"Open it."
Oddey unwrapped it and then opened the box. It was the Love Knot that Marie passed on to his son. "Oh, wow," She expressed.
"You like it?"
"Yes, it's pretty."
"It's a Love Knot. Here, put your hand out." The Romeo took it from the container, then tied it around Oddey's wrist. "I know I said that I don't believe in destiny, but us, I believe. That must've sound corny."
"Thank you." Oddey cherished this moment and the bracelet. "I think I heard about this somewhere."
"Really? Where?"
"I forgot. Anyway, I promise that I'll wear it all the time. But now I feel bad that I don't have a present for you. First, the picnic, then the design of my future art school, and now, this."
Gage held her shoulders, "It's fine. Spending today with me is all that I wanted from you," He told her.
Oddey was in awe of his words. "Sometimes, I think you're too good to be true."
The Romeo felt flatter, and his face became red. "Come on, I'll walk you to your dorm."
----
In the girls' dorm room, Oddey came in with the canvas she painted earlier and the paper of Gage's sketch for her. She saw Rita still awake, watching a series on Netflix with her phone. The roommate noticed her beaming from ear to ear like she was high on love. Forbidden love, to be exact.
"Someone enjoyed her date with her Romeo," the bestie teased as she paused whatever she was watching on Netflix to get some juicy details of the lovestruck artist's date.
"Yes, you're not wrong," Oddey giggled. "It was perfect."
"Oh? Tell me, what did you guys do?" Rita spotted a new accessory that her best friend had. "And, what's that over there?"
"This?" The Juliet glanced at the knotted wristlet. "Something that my Romeo gave it to me."
"He gave that to you? That's so cute," Rita complimented the red string bracelet that her best friend was wearing around her wrist.
"It's called a Love Knot," Oddey answered.
"I've never heard of that. What is it?"
"Something to do with destiny."
"He believes in destiny too?"
"Not actually."
Rita was impressed by her bestie's boyfriend. "You two are perfect anyway. So, spill, what happened at the picnic?"
"Super duper amazing," Oddey replied in glee as if she had honeymoon fever in her brain. "He arranged a paint picnic for me, I mean... us."
"A paint picnic? Wow! I've never heard of that, so you guys basically just paint while having a picnic?"
"Yeah, we did that, we ate sushi and then watched a movie. A Ghibli movie, no less. Oh! that's not all!" Oddey recalled as she took out the sketch paper to show it to her roommate. "Look at this."
Rita took a look at it, though she had no idea what the big deal was about it, so she pretended to be interested in it. "Cool drawing," She commented.
"It's not just any cool drawing, Gage made it for me," the Juliet revealed. "It's a design for my future art school. Apparently, he took me to this old house with a lake at the back, and he said that he planned to make it like this."
Rita was impressed. "That's so awesome. He's so wonderful to do this for you."
Oddey gazed at her boyfriend's sketch and admired it. "Yeah," She expressed her euphoria.
"So what else did you guys do? Did you guys do some sexy stuff?" Her bestie smirked in a teasing way.
"Oh, Gosh no," the young artist blurted.
"What are you? Grade School? So, being in the middle of nowhere, just the two of you, ALONE? and nothing happened?"
"Well..." Oddey cringed and got bashful that she rubbed her hands together. "Something almost did happen?"
"Like... what?" Rita raised a brow, then it hit her like a bat she began to squeal with delight. "AHH!! NO!! so you guys had sex?"
"NO! Well... almost. We were dancing under the stars, then he twirled me around, and the next thing I knew, we started touching each other."
"Oh... and then?" The best friend became intrigued. Very intrigued.
"I admit, I was so carefree when we were lost in the passion."
"Oh, wow. So what's the problem? Oh, no, no. don't tell me, it's about your dad, isn't it?" Rita frowned.
"Yes," the Juliet groaned.
"Oh, come on! It's not like he has cameras all over you, and it'll be weird if he does."
"Okay, okay, I get it," Oddey grumbled. "I just... can't, okay? It's bad enough that I'm going at Gage and my Dad's back like this. I draw the line on sex."
"Yeah, but you want to, don't you?"
"I do want to."
"So what do you want? the talk? You can't let your Dad have control over your life and with your sex life," Rita lectured.
"Would you stop saying it like that?!"
"Sorry, but you know what I mean. Also, sex is not a big deal anyway. What's important is that the two of you had, you know, consent."
"Right, no guy ever arranged a paint picnic for me."
"It is really sweet of Gage to do that stuff."
"Regardless, he's such a Romeo," Oddey expressed.
"You guys are like the story itself," Rita remarked.
"Maybe. But yesterday was a day that I'm going to remember for the rest of my life. Just him and me," the Juliet added, still feeling like she was in a dream that she had to wake up to from the reality of life.
----
Meanwhile, Gage was already in his dorm as he changed into his sleeping wear. "How was the date?" Felix asked as he noticed his smile on the Romeo's face.
"It was awesome. The picnic painting was a success," the architect student said.
"Good to hear. You seem happier, too."
"I am." Gage smiled from ear to ear as he continued telling his buddy what went on, and then something came into mind. "By the way, can I ask you something private?"
Felix lifted a brow and weirdly gazed at him. "Uhm... sure? Go ahead."
"Have you and Rita had sex?"
From that daring question, his friend couldn't help being stunned and also, blushed from it. "Oh... No, we haven't. She's kinda conservative. Which I don't mind." Then he gasped. "Why did you and Oddey...?"
"NO," Gage replied quickly. "We didn't. She's also conservative."
"Okay... does it bother you that you guys didn't have sex?"
"No, it's not like that. It's just that we... almost did it."
"Woah! Really?" Felix sounded impressed. "So what happened?"
"I kissed her neck, then I unbuttoned her shirt. That's when she freaked out and pulled away from me."
"What did she say?"
"That she doesn't want pre-marital sex," Gage answered.
"Is that a problem?" Felix questioned.
"No, of course not. I don't care if we have sex or not. My point is, I love Oddey, and I wanted to do it, and I was willing to stop when she asked me to because I don't want to hurt her."
"Yeah, you're definitely falling hard for her that got, you know, steamy." His best friend teased.
Gage threw a pillow at him. "Shut up."
"I'm messing with you. But I admit, you guys are great together. Maybe not as great as me and Rita, that is."
"Pfft... whatever."
