i'm worried jenna might break up with jacob if he keeps making bad puns

After we demolished the entire box of cookies, Jenna led me to the bathroom, keeping the door open.

"You guys don't want me in there, do you?" Jacob calls.

"Nah," Jenna answers. "Let it be a surprise, you impatient muffin." I giggle slightly at the pair of them.

I shrug my sweatshirt off reluctantly and let my hair fall out of its buns. It barely brushes my shoulders. Jenna lifts it up to lay a towel to protect my shirt, despite knowing that it's one of my shirts that's already stained with color.

She makes me close my eyes, insisting it be a surprise for me as well. We sing as she paints half of my hair with the dye, half the kind of singing that actually sounds talented and half giggling all over the place.

It only takes about fifteen minutes until Jenna's done, and she leads me over to the bathtub, where Jenna washes out my hair, trying not to bang my head on the side of the tub.

When she's finished, she dries it off with another towel and combs through the tangles.

"Okay," Jenna says, a satisfied tone leaking into her warm, excited voice. "Open your eyes."

I do, and step over in front of the mirror. A grin creeps across my face as I see it. It's not really that clean of a split, but that's okay. It looks really good if I do say so myself. My bright blond hair looks even brighter next to the black on the other side. Both sides are still pretty curly, even wet, but it looks nice.

I'm reminded of a post I saw on Annabelle's blog.

your stamp of approval on my forehead would ruin my makeup

I think of my father and smile.

"Thank you, J," I breathe, throwing my arms around her. She hugs back and laughs.

"Now let's show Jacob." She takes my elbow and leads me back to the couch, after yelling to Jacob to close his eyes.

"Okay, you can open them," Jenna instructed. Jacob obliged, and his eyes widened before crinkling at the sides into a smile.

"Hazel, you look amazel!" he exclaimed. I started giggling, while Jenna just looked at her boyfriend, pulling a fake disgusted face.

"Did you just ..."

"Yes, Jen. I did. Aren't you proud of me?" I throw a hand over my mouth and try to stifle my laughter.

"I hate you."

"Ah, you know you love me," Jacob sang.

"I'd sell you to Satan for one corn chip."

At this point, I completely lose it and fall over. My eyes fill with tears, and I can't breathe.

"You two ..." is all I manage to get out. I see Jenna and Jacob smile at each other, then at me.

I'm really glad I let Jenna dye my hair.
