a pact more concrete than marriage seals me into annabelle's family for good

There's a package by the front door, Annabelle tells me. She says it with a sort of smirk, and I think she knows what it is.

It's kind of squishy, and I wonder what's inside as I poke it. Levi does too, jumping on it. Except he just lays down on top of it.

When I finally remove him from the yellow-orange package, I cut it open, and out falls a mass of pink.

I pick it up. It's soft. And ... knitted? Is this what I think it is? I confirm the return address. It's from Bonnie.

There's a note that falls out when I shake it.

Welcome to the family. Wanted to give this to you at your wedding, but I didn't finish in time.

It's a robe. I look up at Annabelle, unsure of what to do with myself. What have I done to deserve this?

"Try it on, dumbass." I can hear her rolling her eyes at my face. I don't blame her. My jaw has dropped and I've made no attempt to close it.

So I do. I slip it on like it's the most precious thing I've ever held. It falls to my knees and the sleeves are loose and I feel like a princess.

She goes back into the bedroom and comes back out wearing hers. She bends down and kisses me on the forehead. "Now we match."

"You asked her to make me one?"

She shakes her head, making curls bounce everywhere. I watch, never not captivated. "She came up with the idea. I just had to steal enough of your clothes for her to get your measurements."

"Which is the only reason you stole my clothes?"

"Definitely," she winks.
