Taehyung and Jin have a difference of opinion when it comes to their performance that leads to a petty argument between the two. Namjoon steps in before things take an ugly turn, taking a more neutral approach and making sure he doesn't seem like he is siding with either of the members.
"I think both of you are way too heated right now to think straight or look at things from the other's perspective. We've got to go in now. We cannot solve this right now, can we? We're obviously not going to pin the blame on each other. That's not going to help."
The room is silent. Taehyung's gaze rests on the floor, eyes glued to the design while Jin just nods silently to show their leader he's listening and agreeing to him.
Taehyung says nothing however Jin moves forward and apologises. There's still conflict in Jin's eyes that doesn't go unnoticed by Namjoon and he knows the other isn't completely apologetic, still glued to his beliefs about the whole situation.
"We'll talk about this later. Right now, let's go out there and perform our best."
As the members exit the room one by one, Namjoon becomes aware of Taehyung's uncanny silence. He says nothing however till they are backstage under the protection of the dim lights. His eyes shift to Taehyung who has his head bowed.
Namjoon moves across the room and bends a little to look at his face. Despite the darkness of the room, he doesn't miss the way Taehyung's wet cheeks glisten.
"Hey," he whispers softly.
"I'm fine," Taehyung attempts to brush him off but it's too weak as his voice cracks.
Namjoon pulls him in for a hug and rubs his back, "It'll be okay, I promise. It's okay."
It's not much, he knows, but it's the best he can offer before they head up on stage within seconds. It's later after the performance that Namjoon calls for a meeting, just the seven of them.
He encourages Jin and Taehyung to speak about their feelings regarding the performance and the situation in more calm and composed manner. When both share their views, he asks the other members regarding their take on the situation that would enable Jin and Taehyung to see things from a third person's perspective.
It was a long chat the boys had and at some point, Namjoon decided it would be best if Jin and Taehyung were left by themselves to apologise to each other and sort things out between them, especially when Taehyung's face crumpled such that the younger pulled the hood of his jacket over his head. The other members lightly teased them saying if they didn't leave, the two would be too shy to hug each other.
Yoongi thumped Namjoon on the back as they headed out.
"Well handled," he praised and Namjoon smiled tiredly.
