Chapter 4 (21)
Grian was flying towards a set of coordinates Xisuma had given him, trying to track down Xeno. He laughed when he realised the set of coordinates weren't that far away from where he was planning to build his base, crash landing on a tree and wincing as the bark scraped against his skin. He stood up, brushing off the stray leaves that had attached themselves to his clothes and his eyes flicking around the jungle, eventually finding a jungle temple near enough to the coordinates that he assumed it was his base.
He assumed correctly, Xeno opening the door upon knocking, originally a sullen look on his face that lit up upon opening the door when he saw who it was.
"You survived the season!" Grian said, raising a hand for a high five that Xeno gladly took.
"You did too - I think that's an achievement, and it was your first season, wasn't it?" Xeno asked, and Grian nodded, smiling slightly.
"Yeah, it was. It did end up being kinda chaotic, you know, balancing the two servers. I'm hoping this Season will be less chaotic - welp the author's broken the fourth wall - and saying that I know it'll be very chaotic as this is a story and it needs to be interesting. Dear god I'm becoming self aware I think I need to tell Pit the wall needs fixing. Again. She's definitely getting told off by Lucid."
Xeno laughed. "I can imagine. I think you did rather well though," he said, giving Grian a rare smile.
"I mean, I guess?" he said, shrugging. "Also, do I smell cookies?" Xeno rolled his eyes.
"You want some?"
"Naturally." Xeno gave him a bemused smile, as Grian followed Xeno inside to the kitchen, his mouth watering slightly as his gaze fell on the baked goodies.
Xeno grabbed a bunch of cookies, dropping them onto a plate and placing it on the arm of the sofa, as Grian instantly grabbed one, taking a bite and managing to finish it in about 10 seconds before looking innocently at Xeno.
"You're going to start a war over cookies at some point, aren't you?" Xeno asked, raising an eyebrow as Grian grabbed another, looking at him like a child caught stealing from the biscuit jar.
"Me? Nooooooo, I would never start a war!" Xeno scoffed.
"Riiiiight. Sure you wouldn't. Feel like watching a film?"
"That was a fast change of subject," Grian noted, wiping a crumb off his cheek. "But sure, any preference?" Xeno smiled, grabbing a remote control (Don't ask how he got a TV in Minecraft, just don't) and flicking the TV on.
"Yup, it very much was. How do you feel about Star Wars (DONT COPYRIGHT ME DISNEY)?"
"That sounds good. Any one in particular?"
"I don't mind - just not the sequel trilogy." Grian laughed, rolling his eyes.
"I dunno, the third one's pretty good," he stated, moving to grab yet another cookie before Xeno stopped him, grabbing one for himself then letting Grian get it.
"I didn't need emotions anyway," Xeno grumbled, but Grian didn't hear, instead too focused on getting the film up as the iconic music began to play, and Grian was tempted to hum along, but when he did Xeno shot him a playful glare and he shut up.
***
"This bit's really sad," Xeno stated, his voice slightly thick with emotion, as Grian turned to him, a grin on his face.
"ARE THESE EMOTIONS XENO?!" he asked excitedly, his eyes lighting up mischievously for the first time in a while.
"I NEED TO TAKE A PICTURE, THIS IS SUCH A RARE OCCURENCE!" Grian screeched, only for Xeno to place a finger over his lip, slightly irritated as he rolled his eyes.
"In my defence Grian, I've watched Clone Wars Season 7 which makes it really sad," he stated, watching as shots fired, the clones quickly turning on their comrades and killing them all within seconds. (Okay I tried to avoid spoilers but if you haven't watched RotS THEN YOU NEED TO)
"BUT EMOTIONS!" Grian protested, before Xeno put his hand over his mouth, stopping Grian from being able to talk as he grunted indignantly. After a couple of minutes, Xeno let Grian talk again, instead ignoring him and continuing to watch the film, eventually Grian falling silent, the only sound punctuating the silence being the violent sounds of the film.
"Are you sure this is PG?" Grian asked, raising an eyebrow as screams of pain echoed around the room.
"PG? Nah, why would this be PG?" Xeno scoffed, seemingly unfazed despite his reaction earlier.
"I dunno, I would've expected you to pick one of those Disney films with princesses and stuff," Grian teased, elbowing him playfully.
"Hell nah, I wanted to watch one where someone gets his limbs cut off and burns to death," Xeno said, rolling his eyes, and conveniently at that exact point Grian saw one of the figures jump, only to be cut in half and fall in the lava.
"Timing," Grian noted, laughing slightly, grabbing another cookie (a second batch that Xeno had to bake halfway through the film) and eating it, as Xeno grabbed about 3 at once, stashing them away in a pile closer to him to avoid Grian stealing them. Xeno flicked the TV off, noticing the credits rolling and smiling as he stood up, Grian untangling himself from the blankets, as Xeno struggled to help him out, using the excuse to nab a cookie from Xeno's pile, at which point Xeno looked down at him, a bemused look on his face when he noticed, grabbing it from his hand.
Grian huffed, rolling his eyes, but smiling slightly, enjoying the brief moment of childishness, dreading the point at which he'd have to return to the real world.
But for now he could have fun.
