Part 12: Risk It All, For It All!
Thank you everyone for your love and support, and I apologize for the delay. The update was turning very long and would take more time for me to finish. So I decided to update before I get busy again. But don't worry the update is still long enough for you to enjoy. Here you go then!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naira was standing in the terrace of Goenka Villa. She was lost in her own thoughts while looking down at a far distance. Unknown to her, a strong pair of arms sneaked around her from the back and engulfed her in a warm hug. Naira didn't even flinch, knowing very well it was her husband. Kartik smiled seeing her reaction. He pulled her closer, leaving no space between them. Now her back was resting on his chest and surprisingly she didn't protest for once.
As his fingers started playing with her hands that he was already holding in his grips, Kartik rested his chin above her shoulder. He nuzzled her neck and face as he inhaled in her sweet scent. Burying his face in the crook of her neck, he spoke in a daze "Do you know how much I have missed you?!" And soon one of his hands slid under the thin fabric of her saree. He let it roam over her stomach and spoke, still lost in his own world "You are looking beautiful. Breathtaking as always! And you know the best part! Your face is glowing even more after the pregnancy."
"I really really Lo...." Before he could continue and profess his love for her, Naira cut him in between and asked "Bohot khush hoge na tum? You got what you wanted! Here I am in your house, standing in front of you, with you. Jaise tum chahte the ki mein laut aaon! So tum le aaye mujhe!" Immediately, Kartik's hand that was still holding her one hand near her abdomen lossened a bit and his other hand stopped tracing her stomach. A baffled Kartik questioned "Kya tum nehi ho khush?!" His tone almost indicated it was more of a remark than a direct question.
Naira gave out a sarcastic laugh and slightly pushed away his hands. As she came out of his grip, she wrapped her hands around her petite frame, feeling cold due to loss of his touch. She started walking away from him and spoke in a monotonous tone "Mein khush hoon ya nehi, iss se koi fark nehi padta! What I want, it doesn't matter eiher! Tum chahte the mein chali jao, I did. You didn't wish to talk to me, tumne wo bhi kia. Tumhara maan kiya toh tum chale aaye wapas, akele! For you, we were over. Aab phirse tum mujhe apni zindagi mein chahte ho, so here I am again."
Since Kartik followed behind her, now both were standing in the middle of the terrace. Being very patient, he asked his wife "Ye mera sawal ka jawab nehi hai! Pehle kia hua tha wo saab chodo. Let's keep everything aside for sometime. First I want to know, kya tum khush ho?" Naira had no answer to her husband's question, and if she remained there for a little longer her face would give away the obvious. She needed to hold herself together. So she turned to leave without giving him an answer.
She had barely taken two steps, when Kartik pulled his wife with a jerk that made her come crashing against his well-toned body and her free hand landed on his chest for support. Without giving Naira a chance to process anything, he twisted her hand behind her back and pushed her delicate body more toward him. It was as swift as when he pulled her to him in a jiff and now her body was pressed up against him completely. Their faces were dangerously close to each other. His nose and forehead were touching hers, whilst their breaths mingled with each other's.
They both could listen to each other's rhythmic heartbeats clearly. Due to his close proximity her heart had started to race so fast that she closed her eyes in fear. Fear because Naira knew if she kept looking at him, she would only be drawn to her husband's charismatic eyes and lose all control. Kartik's condition was no better. He felt his heart would leap out of his chest anytime with the thrill of getting her so close to him after what seemed like ages now. He knew they both wanted this moment, but first they needed to sort out the issues between them.
Kartik asked in a husky voice "Naira look at me!" His Naira being Naira, kept her eyes shut as tight as possible. This time he asked her very softly as if almost pleading "Please look at me once Jaan!" And it melted her heart a bit. She looked at him with her big innocent doe shaped eyes and found him staring at her with an intense gaze. Though she immediately wanted to pull away from their magnetic eye-lock, she was already trapped in his passionate world like a hopeless lover.
Still captivated in that eyelock, he asked in a firm tone "Tum khush nehi ho! Kya tum nehi chahti thi ye? Tumhe nehi chahiye mera saath! Don't you love me as much as I do? Didn't you crave for me as much as I did for you? Bolo Naira!" Without answering any of his queries, Naira averted her gaze from Kartik with great difficulty, and shut her eyes to hide the affect that he was having on her mind and soul.
In consequence, Kartik held her chin with his free hand and turned her face to make her look at him again. He asked with a painful voice "Mere hone ya na hone se tumhe koi fark nehi padta?! Tell me, you don't need me in your life anymore?!" Even though her body had already started to tremble listening to his last two questions, she didn't dare to open her eyes to make a contact with his. She just shook her head in denial as if begging him to stop, when he half yelled in an impatient tone "Damn it tell me! Do you or not?"
Naira let out a shriek listening to his raised voice. She whispered in an inaudible tone "You are hurting me!" Yet he did heart it. He understood she was referring to her hand that he has been twisting from the back, but she really meant he was hurting her with his words. It was an indication that she wanted him to stop, and said so just to divert the topic.
Kartik just laughed in sheer mockery, making Naira open her eyes instantly. He brought her hand that was resting above his chest and positioned it over his heart. Without breaking the eye contact, he reminded her "You know I can never hurt you! At least not knowingly! More than me you know that Naira! And if that ever happens, I wish my heartbeats stop forever." Naira gasped loudly at his statement and before she knew, she ended up yelling out a "No!" with a choked voice. To say, it was an automatic reflex! Out of fear she clutched his shirt tightly in her fist while dread was written all over her face. Unknown to her, unstoppable tears had already made their way out of her eyes, and this time she made no attempt to mask her emotions.
Kartik looked at her with guilt filled eyes. His eyes reflected the same pain as hers, but he controlled the tears that were threatening to shed any moment. He was so ready to engulf her in his arms, yet something stopped him. He thought; "It's now or never. Today even if I end up losing my life, I won't regret Naira. I won't! Either you will be in my life or I won't....." And Kartik had loosened his grip on her hand.
Naira watched being surprised, as he opened her fist with a bit force and freed his shirt from her firm hold. He bowed down his head as he said apologetically "I am sorry!" Naira, who was already disturbed with his words, looked on confused. At first she thought her husband was saying sorry for his earlier words or twisting her hand in that manner, which actually didn't hurt her at all. However, her confusion turned into pure horror when she saw him taking two steps back, still deeply staring into her eyes. Now she understood the real meaning of his sorry!
Her breath hitched realizing he was up to no good. Naira found it difficult to even form words. She half cried as she pleaded "Ka---Kartik! Wh---what are y--you doing? Plea---please st--stop" He gave her a faint smile and questioned back "What do you think I am doing?" "Don't be stupid and illogical. Just stop right there!" yelling she almost started to run at his direction, but he warned her "Don't take another step Naira! Otherwise I will make it very quick." Then he chuckled and said "And when did anyone ever say that love is set by rules or follows logic?"
As she realized it was futile to try to talk some sense into him, she threatened him "If you don't stop there right now, I will hurt myself. And I mean it Kartik." He sighed and spoke as he took few more back steps "No you won't! Our child will protect you. You will never do anything that can possibly hurt the symbol of our love." He was confident and indeed very much right! Now fresh tears had started to flow from her eyes and Naira closed them in pain being not able to see the sight in front of her. She was completely vulnerable and told him in a begging tone "Don't do it Kartik! Please stop! Don't you see my condition?"
All broken, she attempted another step. Though it was breaking him from inside as well, Kartik mustered all the courage to control his emotions. He yelled, "Just don't! I am telling you, you are going to regret your step!" A frustrated Naira shouted, "What do you want?"
By now he was standing close to the railing of the terrace. Kartik's face became serious. It was deprived of any emotion as he said, "You very well know what I want!" Since the railing was made up of bricks, the next moment Naira saw her husband getting up on top of it. And there was no stopping! As she ran, all she could see her Kartik was standing at the edge of the railing. He was ready to jump and Naira felt as if she just looked death in the face.
As he raised one of his feet, Kartik felt a harsh pull downward and he came standing on top of the terrace. Before he could realize what has just happened, his wife engulfed him in a warm-desperate back-hug. She wasn't holding back anymore. An entirely broken Naira held him so tight that he even found it difficult to breath. She sobbed with unstoppable hiccups while hiding her face at his back. Her hands that were wrapped around his torso, Kartik grabbed them tightly in his fists in an attempt to not let go. He let Naira cry her heart out, while made no effort to stop his own tears this time.
They remained in that position for a long time. He was submerged in a pool of guilt, where she was moved by the fear of losing the man, who meant the world to her. Yet both were experiencing the same feeling of pain. When she finally found her voice, she asked in an accusing tone "Why did you do it? You knew, but still! Why?" "It...it, it killed me!" saying she burst into tears one more time.
The next second, Kartik pulled her by one arm while releasing the other, and took her in a bone crushing hug. He wishpered near her ear "Are you still going to keep quiet? Aab bhi kahogi, mera na hone se tumari zindagi mein koi fark nehi padta! Tumhe nehi chahiye mera saath!"
"Tumne aise kyun kia mere saah Kartik? Wo bhi iss halat mein!" she questioned him with a broken voice instead. Despite the fact she was still extremely scared, Naira turned fierce in no time. Losing her sanity, she didn't think twice before blasting him "Aur itni pagalpan! Aisa koi karta hai? Agar tumhe kuch ho jata toh mein toh zinda hi maar jati! Ek baar bhi mere bare mein nehi socha tumne! Nehi socha apne hone wale Bachhe ke bare mein! Uss Bachhe ka kya? That innocent life, which didn't even see the light of this world, you wanted to deprive it of its father's love. Tum mere Bachhe se uska Baap chin rehe the Kartik! How could you?"
Kartik didn't say anything and listened to her all complains and accusations quietly. He let her vent out her anger over him. He knew he was wrong again, but he was also helpless. To make things worse, his impulsive nature didn't help in the situation either. He only knew he was willing to risk it all to get it all. He just didn't have any control over his thoughts or actions.
While he was patiently waiting for his wife to calm down, he felt her grip loosened around him. Soon she was pushing him away from her, but he didn't let her go out of his grip. Instead he brought down his hands around her waist and encircled them even tighter. He only kept pulling her closer to him as she tried to move away.
Naira struggled in his arms and tried to set herself free. When she failed miserably, she started hitting on his chest "Chodo mujhe. Tum bohot bure ho! Let me go!" As expected, her tiny fists couldn't leave any major imact over his broad chest. He was too strong to feel any pain. Kartik slightly smiled seeing his wife's cute little antics, and that pissed her off very bad. Now she started pushing him as she spoke "Nehi karti mein tumse pyaar. I hate you! I hate you Kartik Goenka! I will never forgive you for this!"
In a little while her every push became harsh than the previous one, and he was caught off guard. Kartik stumbled backward, as he wasn't prepared for her sudden rough attacks. Before he could hold her hands in his grips and prevent them from falling, Naira gave her husband another unexpected push. This time Kartik lost his balance completely. Since his hands were still around her waist, he went down with her on top of him. Once they landed on the floor, his hands were securely holding her in his arms while the lovebirds kept staring at each other without blinking.
Still lost in each other, Kartik spoke in a husky voice "Tum Karti ho! Bohot pyaar karti ho. Mein jaise tumhe deewano ki tarha pyaar karta hoon, tum bhi utna hi karti ho. Shayed usse bhi zayda. Mujhe mera jawab mil gaya hai Naira!" She shook her head in denial and spoke softly "Nehi karti mein!"
And without letting him sense her next action, she was holding his collar in her fists. To his surprise, his wife turned into a wild tigress in the blink of an eye. Naira spoke in a threatening tone "Tumhari himmat kaise huyi aisi harqat karne ki? Tumhe koi haq nehi tha! Tumhari zindagi meri hai! Uss pe sifr aur sifr mera haq hai! Aur humara Baby ka! Samjhe Kartik Goenka! Agar phirse galti se bhi aisa socha na toh mein khud tumhe maar dalungi. Aur ye kabhi bhulna maat tum mere ho, sifr mere!"
Instantly he closed his eyes feeling content inside and opened them again with a broad smile. Kartik became emotional as he said "Aur phir kehti ho pyaar nehi karti!" He brought one of his hands that were encircled around her waist to hold one of her hands that were still gripping his collar. Then he kissed her fingertips by bringing it close to his lips and confessed in a broken tone "Iss baar agar tum mujhse dur gayi na, toh mein jaroor maar jaunga Naira. Agar mujhe apne aap se dur nehi hone dena chahti, toh bol kyun nehi deti? I am yearing to heart it! Please say it again, jo tum pehle bhi bol chuki ho! Aab aur maat tadpao mujhe!"
Looking at her husband's pleading-sad eyes, lsitenting to his deperate voice and finding him so vulnerable; Naira's already mosit eyes turned teary. She couldn't hold heself back anymore and threw her arms around him. While her head was resting on his chest, her hands were entangled around his neck. Kartik's both hands immediately went around her petite form again. He pulled her closer, if that was even possible at all, and held her tighly in his arms securely.
Then finally she declared it to him "I love you. Bohot pyaar karti hoon mein tumse Kartik! Phir kabhi nehi chodke jaungi. Tumhare bina jina kia, mein toh maar bhi nehi pati. Tumse zayda, mujhe tumahri zaroorat hai! I love you! I love you so much!" And he was home at last!

"Di apko Taiji Bula rahi hai! Kya aap ready ho?" asked Mishti as she knocked on Naira's door. The loud sound and Mishti's voice forced Naira out of her thoughts, and she realized it was just a dream! She was all sweaty by now and shivering with fear. Just the thought that her Kartik was standing on top of the railing gave her the shudders.
Naira felt she would choke any moment, and couldn't bring heself to answer her little cousin's calls. Then closing her eyes, she thanked the Almighty for keeping her Kartik safe and sound. It was her good luck that it didn't happen in real. Wiping off the tears that were shedding from her eyes without her realization, Naira told Mishti that she would be ready shortly and join them downstairs. Once Mishti was gone, she told herself "Her Kartik would never do something so stupid! He would never do something like this with her by putting his life in danger. He would never ever test her love for him! And no matter what she would remain strong!"
