SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO

"IN FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO"

"This is Jim Hellerman, reporting live for Channel 2 News outside of the Capital West bank at Main and Sixth A group of heavily armed men stormed the bank not three hours ago and took an unknown number of hostages"

One of the robbers started yelling "Hey, get them behind the counter!" The alarm went off and he grunted," Now you've put me in a position where I gotta do something I don't want to do, Hmm, SHIT!"

Allison skipped over behind the man as he turned to her," Hey, get back with the others" he said waving his gun and pointing to her to move and then she spoke," I heard a rumour"

"What? What did you say?" The robber asked annoyed with the young girl

"I heard a rumour that you shot your friend in the foot" Her power activated as he was in a trance turning to the other robber raising his gun to him," Hey, Dude"

"What the hell?!" The other man shouted but was cut off as he was shot in the foot.

Jim the reporter then spoke as everyone shouted at the sound of gunfire," We just heard shots from inside the bank, it's uncertain if any hostages have been harmed in that"

"Up there" A man shouted in the back as everyone looked at the roof seeing someone running.

"There's some movement on the roof. Possibly law enforcement" said Jim

Inside the bank, Luther lands from falling down the roof grabbing the robber near him and throwing him out a window

Jim looked to see the man fly out and spoke to the camera," Looks like one of the armed robbers has been thrown from the bank."

Diego runs in shouting," Guns are for sissies. Real men throw knives" He threw a pair of his knives and it flew sideways to the robber on the side.

Jim then turning speaking at the noise from inside the bank, "I've been in many hostage situations, like this, and it can escalate very quickly"

The robber next to Allison who was the last one alive, jumped up the counter and started pointing his gun at the children," Get back, you freaks"

Diego chuckled," Hey, be careful up there, buddy"

The man grunted pointing his gun and shouting, "Get back now!!"

Allison amused spoke," Wouldn't want you to get hurt"

"Or what?" Five said appearing through his spatial jump scaring the robber as he turned around shooting Five who had long gone disappeared. He kept persistently shooting and then Five appeared behind him clicking what he thought was his gun, but was a stapler.

"Ooh! That's one badass stapler!" Prime said clapping her hands and walking in joining her siblings. She used her telekinesis as she made the man stab himself in the head with the stapler.

Jim looking at the bank as it was no longer making any commotion spoke," Although there's been no activity for a few minutes, we're gonna stay live on location to make sure we don't miss anything in this hostage situation at the Capital West bank"

Ben looked around at his siblings unsure," Do we really have to do this?"

Prime walked over to Ben putting her arm on his shoulder," It's alright Benny, I know it sucks, but There are more guys in the vault" He looked at her not wanting to but she smiled at him whispering," I'll reward you after. I'll ask Grace for the recipe for your favourite cookies!"

He sighed and looked at her he walked over opening the door," I didn't sign up for this, I'm only doing this for Prime" He said quietly only so she could hear the last part

The front door of the bank opened as the hostages ran out screaming and Jim spoke," Now we see the hostages, they're free. They're scared, clearly, but they do seem to be unharmed"

Prime looked at the vault as she and her siblings stood outside hearing a beastly shriek as there were distressed and horrifying shouts of the robbers in the vaults being slaughtered. Ben slowly opened the door covered in blood," Can we go home now?"

Prime walked over to Ben not caring he was covered in blood and wiped some off his cheek kissing it," Good job Benny" He looked at her smiling as she wiped her lips with her uniform. She then grabbed his hand and they joined their siblings walking out of the bank.

They walked out together as the media flooded them with questions. They lined up in their order, with Prime on the highest stairs, her siblings standing in order in front of her" Prime looked up to the tall buildings seeing Vanya standing by herself, their father walked over to them.

"Our world is changing. Has changed. There are some among us gifted with abilities far beyond the ordinary. I have adopted seven such children. I give you the inaugural class of the Umbrella Academy"

PRESENT DAY

Prime was sitting in her room listening to the music Luther was playing. She hummed along with it as she started to stand up dancing along with it. She grabbed one of my stuffed animals on her bed—Ben had given it to her on their birthday. She smiled at the song remembering it was the record Ben and her often danced to.

FLASHBACK

Prime and Ben are both 15 years old. Both sat on the rooftop of their home looking at the night sky. Prime smiled as she lifted her hand and came floating in was Luther's record player.

"What are you doing, Prime?" Ben asked seeing the record player and she turned to him smiling

"Dad is away, our siblings snuck out for their birthdays, why don't you and I have a little party of our own?" She put the record on as the beat picked up

Ben looked at Prime's stretched-out hand and shook his head," I can't dance" and she rolled her eyes

"Who cares? Cause I sure don't, dance with me, Benny!" He smiled standing up as the beat picked up.

Prime started to dance following the beat as she held Ben's hands who followed her dancing and the two dancing do not have a care in the world. Both horrible dancers did not care what they looked like and just continued to move their bodies smiling.

The two have so much chemistry with each other that they do not notice their siblings watching them having fun. They smiled at the pair just having fun and dancing alone together.

They all just left them alone to make them enjoy their night together as they went to spend time with each other not wanting to ruin their moment since it was one of those rare nights they could stay up without a curfew, and their father being who knows where.

The song slowly ending as the pair were breathing heavily as they laughed falling to the ground next to each other. Prime peered at Ben as he looked into her eyes leaning forward as their lips connected.

"I love you, Prime," Ben said as she grinned leaning her forehead on his

"I love you too, Benny" The two sharing another kiss.

FLASHBACK OVER

"I miss you so much, Benny," Prime said bringing the stuffed bear to her face tearing up as the song continued to play.

Suddenly there was a loud cracking noise outside flooding her windows with a blue and white flashing. She gently put the bear, down and ran out seeing her siblings gathering to where they saw or heard the sound and light coming from.

Diego stepped out first," Oh!" The wind started to howl as Prime looked up and Vanya next to her.

"What is it?"

Allison grabbed both of them," Don't get too close!"

Diego replied sarcastically," Yeah, no shit!"

Luther then spoke "Looks like some sort of temporal anomaly either that or a miniature black hole. One of the two.

Prime scoffed and yelled," Pretty big difference there, Paul Bunyan"

"Out of the way!" Klaus shouted running from behind them with a fire extinguisher

"What are you— Klaus threw it to the light...

"Klaus, what the hell is that gonna do?" Prime shouted as he whined.

"I don't know, do you have a better idea?"

The spatial portal started to buzz and crack as Luther stood in front of them like a shield," I vote on running! C'mon!"

Klaus shouted as Prime rolled her eyes grabbing his jacket collar to stop him from running. She looked up unsure at what she was seeing. She held her breath before gasping as a figure fell through the sky of the portal and the sky cleared.

"Does anyone else see little Number Five, or is that just me?" Klaus said loudly. Prime looked at Five wearing clothes bigger than him and she raised her hands to her face at their brother who had been missing for so long.

"Shit," Five said after looking at his body and clothes.

The Hargreeves all gathered in the kitchen. Prime sat with Klaus on the table looking at Five rummaging through the cabinets. He sighed and asked," What's the date? The exact date"

"The 24th" Vanya said.

Five raise his voice," Of what?"

She concluded," March"

"Good" was all he said and then Prime spoke

"So, are we gonna talk about what happened?" He didn't reply as he put down two slices of bread ignoring her question.

Luther then stood up raising his voice," It's been 17 years"

Five scoffed and spoke, "It's been a lot longer than that" He spatial jumped past Luther to go to the shelves looking for something

"I haven't missed that," Luther said shaking his head at the sudden jump.

Diego not looking at him and just speaking, "Where'd you go?"

"The future, it's shit, by the way," Five said

Klaus raised his finger, "Called it!"

Five sighed," I should've listened to the old man, you know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice" He walked to the table with a jar of peanut butter and eyed Klaus at to his bottom," Nice dress"

Klaus smiled and spoke," Oh, well, danke"

Vanya then groaned and spoke," Wait, how did you get back?"

Prime turned to look at Five as he spoke," In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time"

"Ah I see," Prime said understanding but all the other siblings looked confused at her and then back to Five.

"That makes no sense"

"Well, it would if you were smarter, I figured Prime would be the only one who would get it, she was always the smarter one of all of you" Prime smiled at him as she ignored her siblings glaring at them.

Prime then nonchalantly grabbed Diego who was about to jump at Five's comment," Calm down Diego"

"How long were you there Five?" Prime asked as Diego sat down muttering.

"Forty-five years. Give or take" He replied

She whistled," So you're 58 years old"

All the siblings looked at them both saying," What?!" in perfect unison.

"Yeah, but just my consciousness, my body is now 13 again," He said fixing his sandwich.

"How does that work," Vanya asked and Prime chuckled as Five sighed turning away.

"Delores kept saying the equations were off. Eh" He added biting his sandwich, "Bet she's laughing now."

"Delores?" Vanya asked he ignored her picking up the newspaper

"Guess I missed the funeral"

"How'd you know about that?" Luther asked

Prime reached over Klaus whacking the back of her twin's head," What part of the future did you not understand Luther?"

Five smiled as Luther rubbed his head, "Heart failure, huh?"

"Yea—" Diego and Prime said in sync.

Luther cut them off," No!" and both sighed at him.

Five just rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue," Nice to see nothing's changed"

He walked away as Allison spoke up annoyed," Uh, that's it? That's all you have to say?"

He continued walking away shouting," What else is there to say? The circle of life"

"Well, that was interesting," Luther said as Prime got off the table leaving them.

"Prime?" Diego called out.

She turned around at all of her siblings staring at her, "Yeah?"

"Do you know something?" This time Luther questioned.

Prime shrugged my shoulder, "I don't know—if you don't mind, I'd like to check on our brother, without asking him so many questions. I'd like to very much see if he is physically okay, kind of my job you know" She concluded leaving them.

Prime walked up the stairs to Five's room which was farthest from everyone's. She then knocked on the door as he opened it now wearing his uniform.

"Hey Five" He motioned for her to enter and she walked in. His room was the only room Prime hadn't entered since their father made it a rule not to—only Pogo and Grace were allowed.

"I know something the others don't," She said referring to their dad's death

"I figured, you would, so what did I miss?" He asked not bothering to ask what it was. He had the common sense to know there was a perfect reason. There is always a reason in their family.

Prime sighed," Well, nothing really, everyone left besides Luther and me. I was sick and Luther had to go on a mission, he failed, and well, it ended with him being sent to space"

He sat next to her on his bed," ...what about Ben?"

She flinched at the subject and gripped her fist," It was horrible" She started to shake as hug herself.

"You don't have to talk about it," He said quietly noticing that she was shaking as he soothed her back.

"I'm sorry if me leaving caused it," He said

She shook my head," Don't be, it was our fault, the mission backfired and—

"You can stop Prime, don't say anymore" Five reached over hugging her with his smaller body. For the first time in a while, Prime cried.
