Dreams Really Screw Me Over- Roman
"So the world's unfair. Keep it locked out there. In here it's beautiful."
Quick warning: I wouldn't say smut, but it gets a little hot and heavy for a while. Skip past the italics to skip it!
It was some indistinct location in my mind. It looked like my room, but also the dressing room? I couldn't focus on anything, just kept turning and turning until I heard a voice. "Hey, Princey."
I whirled around and there he was. Virgil Sanders leaning against the table, his jacket wrapped around his waist. He had this look in his eyes like he wanted to eat me alive. I moved forward, almost entranced. There was just something about him.
"Don't be nervous." He said. And just like that, he kissed me. He kissed me and suddenly nothing else mattered. My hands fell to his waist and I let myself fall, fall, fall. He moaned into my mouth and everything was perfect. The way he felt, the way he sounded, the way his hands gripped in my hair.
"God, you're perfect," I muttered between kisses, my eyes shut as I lost myself to whatever the hell this was.
"Says you," he kissed my neck. "Oh, if only this was real."
"Yeah," I didn't even register what he said until it was over. "Wait, what?"
He just kept kissing down my neck as he purred. "You're going to be leaving soon."
My hands tightened around his thigh. "What? I don't understand."
"Bye, Roman. See you later." He bit down on my neck and my eyes flew open.
I woke up with a gasp, staring at my alarm clock. My face was redder than a sunset and my breathing was labored. It was a Thursday morning. As in 3:00 in the morning. It took me a moment to remember why I had woken up. And then I got out of bed. Did I really just... no I don't want to think about it anymore.
My mother woke up at 7:00 that morning, and when she did, she found me sitting on top of the kitchen counter, clutching a mug.
"Morning!" I tried to play it off naturally. "I would offer you some coffee but I drank the whole pot." She looked at me oddly and left the kitchen. I sat there, staring at the floor until I heard Logan's car. I ran outside and jumped in the backseat, really fidgety.
Logan and Patton exchanged concerned looks as we drove down the main road. "Roman, you okay, buddy?" Patton spoke as if he was approaching an easily spooked animal.
I was about to tell them what happened when Logan spoke. "Hey, isn't that Virgil walking? I thought he had a ride to school. We should probably offer to take him."
My whole face blanched. "No, he's fine, keep driving. Now."
"Roman, that's not nice!" Patton started to roll down his window as Logan pulled to the side.
"Logan, if you offer him a ride, I swear to God-" I started to threaten, but Patton had already yelled out of the window.
"Hey, Virgil!" Virgil turned around and looked at me through the window for a moment. All I could hear was him whispering my name into my ear. But he looked away and waved at Patton. "You wanna ride?"
I hissed quietly so Virgil wouldn't hear. "No! Don't do that!" Logan turned around in his seat, annoyed. "Shut up, what is wrong with you today? You were all over him yesterday."
I didn't know exactly how to explain how different it was now. For one, I had almost kissed him until Janus and Remus (finally figured out their names) interrupted. And that, the casual flirting to get that blush out of him, it was so different than what was going in my head.
And because God hated me, Virgil shrugged and said "Sure, why not?" Patton smiled and unlocked the door. I moved over to the opposite side and Virgil climbed inside. He looked at me for a moment, then looked away. "Hey."
I couldn't look at him without thinking of that rude awakening last night. "Hey." The moment I said it, I regretted it. The tone was abrupt and rude. He looked back at me, and with a look of understanding, he quietly sighed and put his earbuds in.
The rest of the ride was quiet and tense. I was so happy when we arrived, I got out quickly and almost ran to the building. Almost. I felt Logan grab onto my arm with an iron grip and hissed into my ear. "Wait."
Virgil and Patton were saying something and then Virgil started to walk towards the building and Patton came over to us. Once he entered the building, Patton and Logan turned on me.
"What is wrong with you? You have been acting so weird! Did you and Virgil fight?" Patton asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Logan must have seen the look on my face and understood. "Not at all," he chuckled, which made me kind of mad. "They kissed."
"Almost! We didn't actually kiss..." I looked at the ground as Logan actually started to laugh, which was so bizarre and Patton hugged me.
"Well, that's great, kid. I thought you would be cute! But then why are you acting like that? He obviously wanted to talk to you." Patton held onto my shoulders.
"Well, um," I started picking at my nails. "I didn't sleep well because of a dream..."
Logan looked confused and so did Patton. I cracked and confessed the whole thing. "And I can't look at him because all I see is that!" I wailed and covered my face. There was complete silence then cackling laughter. I looked up and I saw Logan and Patton holding each other up, descending into giggles.
"Shut up!" I yelled. "It's not funny!" They slowly calmed down.
Logan could not stop smiling. "I'm really sorry, Roman," He clamped a hand over his mouth, trying to muffle his laughter.
Patton hooked my arm with him. "Kid, you're my best friend, so I have an obligation to tell you how dumb that is. You're going to completely lose whatever you have with him."
I sighed. "I know you're right, but it's really distracting."
Logan, after a while, calmed down and hooked onto my other arm. "That's why we're here as your wingmen. V.S. is going to happen if we help you." And with that final declaration, they dragged me to school.
