Chapter One
"And what's your name pretty lady?" The Bartender leaned against the counter, his body haloed by the lights left to illuminate the drinks that sat behind him.
"Veronica" I lay one hand on the counter, almost touching his. He smirks at me. "What can I get you Veronica?"
"How about a mind eraser, on the rocks?" I turn my head towards the sea of people dancing, some drunk, some totally alert. Their bodies swaying so off beat that I actually started to feel sorry for them.
"Trying to forget something?" The bartender asks, leaning a little too close to the counter in my opinion. "Maybe..." I let the corners of my mouth slightly lift up and he returns the gesture. After he sits my glass down he adds, "You're mysterious, I like you."
"Oh, you won't like me for very long" I reply. He has no idea who I am and why I'm here, more importantly, what I'm about to do. I turn towards the sea of people before I spot him. Him. The very sight of him makes my blood boil. I could tell by the way he was staggering with his date that he was too drunk to even recognize me.
I reach up to fix a loose strand of hair in place, and fix my eyes on him as I get up from my seat, ignoring the pleading cries of the bartender.
His date lays a hand on his chest before starting to stumble, she smiles up at him and leaves, making her way to the bathroom. Perfect. I fake a smile as I reach him.
His eyes rake me up and down before he smiles at me, trying to entice me with his eyes. I move closer and reach my hand up to the nape of his neck, whispering in his ear, "Dance with me."
His hands instantly fly to my waist as I turn around.
He was too easy.
I bend down, his hands seem to grip onto my waist harder. I stop myself from laughing out loud because he has no idea what I'm about to do.
Little did he know that under my lace black dress was a can can concealment Holster, which held my beretta M9, the weapon that would be used to kill him.
I lift up my skirt and with the other hand, grab the gun so fast that it only takes less than a second to have it pressed against his temple.
I can feel his heart rate accelerate.
I pull the trigger, and like magic, it silences the room.
He falls dead to the floor, blood pools around his dusty brown hair, and his brown eyes stare wide in shock.
I'm aware of all the stares I'm getting, and when I hear the sound of heavy footsteps behind me, I pull the gun up and shoot at the ceiling, making the light above me shatter into a million pieces.
Have I mentioned that I never miss a shot?
And while the security officers are paying attention to flying glass, I'm already gone.

"What the hell Hannah!!!" A hand grabs my arm and swings me around to face them. "What was that!?"
"Let me go Brad, and I told you not to call me by my real name."
I pull my arm away only to have him grab my shoulder and swing me around again.
"What do you want!? I have to be out of here before the cops arrive you dumbass!"
"Han...Veronica, this isn't safe...you need to come home."
"Since when has safe ever meant anything to you!?" I turn away fast enough so he can't get a grip on me again.
I walk fast until all I can hear on the damp sidewalk is my heels, clicking. And that's when I know he isn't following me.
The man I had just killed, was Travis Petroff, son of the millionaire, Gerald Petroff. And my former lover.
Gosh, I hated him.
Anyways, Mr. Petroff hired me to follow Travis, I don't know why, but today was the last day of that.
I had all the information I needed, and Mr. Petroff was going to pay for what he did to the citizens of Blackwood.
