Twenty-Two
Yoongi had gotten a text from Taehyung to meet him on his porch before sunset. Usually, Taehyung just shows up. They had barely ever messaged each other, always talking in person instead. The text confused Yoongi, but he went out on his porch anyways.
He had on grey sweatpants and a mustardy-yellow hoodie, a white t-shirt on underneath. His hair was fluffy from letting it dry in the chilly air. Outside, the sun was about to set, but clouds were scattered and it was almost like the whole sky was grey instead of its normal blue. It was cold, so Yoongi had his yellow hood covering his ears. It was uncomfortable sitting outside for so long, waiting for Taehyung. He started to wonder if he was even coming.
Taehyung did show up just before the sun had finally set and the night settled in. Yoongi immediately stood up upon seeing him, his hands frozen and cheeks numb, red as apples because the stinging of cold wind.
"You made me sit out here for so long," Yoongi complained. He could've complained more, but something about Taehyung made him feel weird. He had on all black; a black sweatshirt and pants. His hair was fluffy as usual, and everything was normal except for the feeling deep in Yoongi's gut.
"It is cold out here," Taehyung verified as if Yoongi didn't already know. He looked sorry as he walked up to Yoongi, scratching his neck and hanging his head down low. "Let's go inside. I'm sorry for keeping you outside for so long. I left my phone at home."
Yoongi stepped away from the cold concrete steps. He glanced at Taehyung, eyes set on his gorgeous face. "You left your phone at home, so you decided to take a stroll instead of hurrying to get here?" he asked.
Taehyung's eyes expanded as he lifted his head to Yoongi. "I didn't stroll. I got here as quickly as possible." He walked up the steps and grabbed Yoongi's arm, pulling him towards the door. "We'll go cuddle since I left you out here waiting. Does that sound okay? Can we do that?" he asked.
Hell yeah, it does.
"Yeah, we can do that." Yoongi let himself be taken into the house. He noticed that Taehyung hadn't even looked back at him before he started heading inside. He probably saw how cold Yoongi was sitting out here.
They went to Yoongi's bedroom and settled into the bed. Taehyung placed the blanket over Yoongi's body and lifted his arm over him, pulling Yoongi into him. This was one of Yoongi's favorite things that he and Taehyung do; they cuddle like this and Yoongi feels safer than ever. He always feels safe near Taehyung, but there in his arms is just different.
"Are you tired?" Taehyung asked.
Yoongi shook his head into Taehyung's chest. "I feel fine, Tae," he muttered.
He could feel Taehyung move his hand down to his lower back. Suddenly Yoongi was moving in closer, pressing their legs together out of pure satisfaction. The feeling of Taehyung's hand caressing and scratching gently at his back made him feel like he was falling down a deep, deep path that he didn't know which turns lead where, and he wasn't stopping. No time to think or do. Just going with it.
"Sorry," Yoongi mumbled as he peeled his legs back away from him. Taehyung silently heaved Yoongi's leg over his body, bringing them even closer than Yoongi had them to begin with. Just like the unstoppable path that Yoongi was on, Taehyung was unexpectedly lifting Yoongi's chin and pressing their foreheads together. Yoongi's heart was all over the place, beating loudly and thumping hard.
Taehyung's face was so close to his. It was so lovely. His small moles were scattered in such perfect spots, he had those pretty lips of his parted as his chocolate-colored eyes stared back into Yoongi's, both of their eyes half-lidded and wandering off into each other, examining wherever they wanted without uttering a word to each other.
Yoongi's heart was racing so much because he didn't know what to do. He had always been in such close positions with Taehyung, but never like this. Never so close to him like this, breathing in each other's air, their noses brushing and breath hitching as Taehyung slowly moved closer. Yoongi closed his eyes to prepare himself, but he waited there clueless as he felt Taehyung shift to the side and press his lips to Yoongi's cheek instead.
His heart dropped. He didn't want those lips pressing that soft kiss to his cheek. Yoongi didn't want Taehyung to do this again. This is the third time he's thought that Taehyung was going to kiss him and he didn't. Yoongi opened his eyes as Taehyung pulled away from him and gave Yoongi a weak smile.
"I have to go, Yoongi."
Those words nearly pushed Yoongi off the edge. Especially as Taehyung slid off of the bed and actually began to abandon him.
"That's not fair," Yoongi stated as he sat up on the bed, eyes narrowing in Taehyung's direction. Taehyung halted and stared at Yoongi's door. "You keep leading me on, Tae, and that's not really fair." He stood up from his bed and walked up to Taehyung, deciding to take this chance. "Either you quit leading me on or we just can't be friends. Is it so bad to want to kiss me? Is it because of me?"
Taehyung sighed, still choosing to not look back at Yoongi. "I'm not the one leading anyone on, Yoongi." He stepped forward and opened Yoongi's door, speeding out very swiftly, a little too quick— which is something that he hadn't seen Taehyung do in a while. And it's not fair that Yoongi didn't get the last word. He really deserved it.
But what did Taehyung even mean by that? Yoongi hasn't done a single thing and yet Taehyung is being tight with him. He didn't even stay for thirty minutes before he left— and he kissed Yoongi's cheek like that.
Yoongi won't blame himself this time. He doesn't care if Taehyung likes him back or not anymore. What he cares about is the fact that
Taehyung just lead him on his little leash for so long. He won't stand there and let this happen anymore— no matter how much he wishes to smile with Taehyung again, no matter how much he misses being free and not worrying about it, no matter how many butterflies are released in his stomach or how many cute little things he likes about Taehyung.
He refuses to be lead on.

"Hyung," Jungkook whined as he walked with Yoongi into the school parking lot. Yoongi tried to brush him off as much as possible because he honestly wasn't feeling well enough to talk today. He barely even talked to Seokjin at lunch today. "Hyung," Jungkook repeated, still wandering next to him like a lost puppy. "What have you done to Taehyungie hyung?"
Yoongi stopped in front of his car and turned to Jungkook. "What do you mean?"
Jungkook leaned against the car door so that Yoongi couldn't open it. "Tae hasn't said anything today. He's been ignoring me and Jimin," he said. "I figure it's because of you. You're really the only thing on his mind lately. I think—"
"No, I'm not." Yoongi tried to nudge the vampire away from his car, but he didn't move even an inch.
"Oh, come on." Jungkook laughed as he placed one hand against the door, watching as Yoongi tried to open it but failed. Yoongi huffed and backed away.
"Asshole," he spit out. "Let me go. I didn't do anything to him."
"I feel your lies."
"You're about to feel my foot in your ass if you don't move your hand away from my car." Yoongi slung his car door open on accident, not knowing that Jungkook would actually remove his hand. "Are you trying to break my door?" He pouted as he got into his car.
Jungkook shrugged. "You told me to move my hand, so I did as you wished." He stood in between the door so that Yoongi couldn't shut it. "Actually, I think I know what's wrong with Taehyung," he muttered lowly. Yoongi glanced up at him but tried to pretend he didn't care to hear. "Tae ignored me specifically. He told Jimin good morning at least, but he didn't even look at me." He shifted his weight on the car. "What I'm trying to say is that I think Taehyung may have seen what I did yesterday... You know, in the hall."
Yoongi placed his hands on his steering wheel, staring out into the many students walking on the sidewalk. "You're crazy if you think Taehyung saw that," he said. "And he wouldn't care, anyway. I mean, would you have kissed me if you knew he minded?"
"I didn't know he liked liked you!" Jungkook pouted. "I mean, I did, but I thought it was some kind of other thing. I don't know. But I do know that he's ignoring me."
"That's not my fault, Koo." Yoongi pulled his seatbelt on and then stared up at the boy who was now silent. "Jungkook, let me go." Still, silence came from him. He stared down at Yoongi with a frown. The human sighed at him. "Jungkook, if he's upset about our kiss, it's not for the reason you think it is. I think he's just jealous because me and you are friends." He smiled to assure him.
"Taehyung doesn't get jealous over friendships, Yoongi," Jungkook stated. He was more serious, eyes staring intensely into Yoongi's. "I've been friends with him for longer than you've been born. I know things, Yoongi. Don't forget that." He finally shifted away from the car door, slamming the door right in Yoongi's face. Yoongi watched as the vampire started walking away, clearly irritated.
He is right, though.
Jungkook has known Taehyung for way longer than Yoongi has. The thing is, Yoongi can't imagine Taehyung liking him. So many opportunities have come by where Yoongi absolutely thought about the possibility, but it all leads to one big thing; they can't date. Taehyung has made so many excuses and has lead Yoongi into points of pulling him in and then shoving him away— and Taehyung had even once told Yoongi that he wanted him, but how could that be so? Especially after he had kissed that one student.
It doesn't seem like that's the case at all. In fact, there's no way it's true. Because what kind of fool leads the person that they like into making them believe they're unwanted?
God, but is it true? Taehyung got jealous of Kwan, and he had said so many things, but all of the good things he said just clash together with all of the contrary. Does he want Yoongi or does he not want Yoongi?
Yoongi turned on the switch to his car and drove away from the now almost empty parking lot. He turned the wheel towards the direction of Taehyung's house.
There's only one way to untangle all of these unanswered questions, right?
