Twenty-Six

Yoongi frowned as the fresh peek of sunrise came through the window of Taehyung's room. They had waited all night long, cuddled up and talking about random things to pass the time and to get their minds off of things, but Yoongi knew that his friends weren't going to take this well and he knew that when the sun came up that Namjoon would bring them to Taehyung's yard. He knew they were coming.

"Can I just not go outside?" Yoongi whispered to Taehyung, his voice shaky. "You can do it all on your own. Have fun."

A small chuckle came from Taehyung as he leaned up and looked at the window. "The sun is coming up," he said. He turned back to Yoongi and pulled his body into his, wrapping his arms to force Yoongi into a hug. "Your friends would never hurt you, Yoongi."

Of course, his friends would never hurt him. Not once has Yoongi ever thought that they would, even though they most definitely could have, but they never had. That's not the reason why Yoongi is so nervous, anyway.

"If they hurt you," Yoongi mumbled quietly as he nuzzled into Taehyung's neck. "If they hurt you, then they're still hurting me."

He could feel Taehyung's grip tighten on him. "Yoongi, they think I hurt you. They'll want me dead, you know that. But don't you think I deserve that? I killed you, Yoonie."

Yoongi backed away from the hug, feeling Taehyung's hands drop away from him. "I've never felt more alive, knowing that I get to be with you guys. I am the reason that I'm no longer a human. That was my fault."

Taehyung sighed. He rolled over onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling. "You turned because of me, though. You didn't choose this. I did." He leaned up and left the bed, then turned around and held his hand out to Yoongi. "They're here. Let's go."

But he didn't want to go. He didn't want to argue or fight. Nobody here except for him is at fault. He is the reason why Taehyung is going to gain unnecessary enemies. It isn't right for Taehyung to be hated when he's the reason why he's a vampire. And he's going to be sure to let his friends know that he doesn't want any arguing. This was his choice.

Taehyung and Yoongi walked out of the bedroom and saw that Jimin and Jungkook were already sitting on the couch, just waiting. They didn't say a word as they stood up, but Yoongi watched as Jimin went towards Taehyung and wrapped his arms around his neck, hugging him with a worried look on his face. Yoongi refuses to let anything happen to Taehyung. He'd die before that would happen. He can't risk someone else dying just because of his own foolish actions.

They stopped hugging and Jimin smacked Taehyung on his arm, whispering idiot before he turned to walk to the back door. His hands were shaky as he reached for the knob, not twisting it before he looked back at the rest of them, smiling weakly.

Then he pulled the door open.

Yoongi was well aware of the uneasy feeling settling in his whole body. Everything felt awful. As that door opened and revealed the morning sun, covered mostly by gloomy fog, Yoongi knew that he wasn't going to last throughout this. He knew it would be too much to handle. Perhaps he should've asked for more time to gather his thoughts, but he knew that if Seokjin knew something was up, he would be here first thing in the morning whether Yoongi wanted him to be there or not.

He felt worse now than when he did seeing Taehyung kissing some student in the school hallway. And as the door opened and revealed all of Yoongi's best, closest friends, Yoongi felt more pain seeing Seokjin's disappointed, twisted face than he did turning into a vampire. He never meant to upset his friends and he never liked seeing them when they're not happy. But Yoongi is the reason why.

"Yoongi..." Seokjin stepped forward, but so did Jimin. He stood in front of the door, blocking it in case Seokjin decided to come up onto the back porch or further. Seokjin did stop at the bottom of the porch steps, but he still didn't look too happy with Jimin.

"We'll come outside," Jimin stated.

He turned to Taehyung and then to Jungkook. Jungkook stepped up first. Yoongi understood what they were doing as he was positioned behind Taehyung, but he didn't like it a single bit. He didn't need protection this time.

"No." Yoongi pushed Taehyung aside, ignoring the shocked look coming from him. He also ignored Jimin's glare and Jungkook's worried face as he stepped by Taehyung and went straight for the back door.

Jimin narrowed his eyes as he looked back at him. "I'm not letting you out of this door, Yoongi. What the hell are you doing?"

Yoongi scoffed. "Look, I'm not doubting how serious this situation is, Jimin, but I'm not going to be afraid of my own friends. Let me talk to them." He gave Jimin a glare in return, but he felt nervous doing so. He didn't want to be on Jimin's bad side, but he also didn't want his best friends to think that he's scared of them. They're still his friends.

Jimin moved aside and shushed Taehyung, who made a disapproving noise as Yoongi walked through the door. His friends were all there in the backyard with their eyes on Yoongi. Hoseok shook his head and Seokjin was still frowning, but Namjoon looked more angry than anything. He had a harsh stare on Jimin, his dark eyes unsettling.

"Yoongi, baby..." Seokjin frowned as Yoongi began to walk down the steps.

Instead of anything he was expecting, Seokjin opened his arms wide and pulled Yoongi into a hard hug, their bodies nearly slamming together. Yoongi wrapped his arms around his best friend slowly, noticing that Seokjin was sniffling into his neck as he hugged him.

  "Jin?" Yoongi questioned.

"Idiot," Seokjin whispered into Yoongi's skin. "Why are you okay with this, Yoongi?"

"Why don't we ask Jimin?" Namjoon suddenly asked. Seokjin pulled away from the hug, his eyes wide as he glanced up at Jimin. Yoongi turned as well, tilting his head at Jimin, who now had his eyebrows furrowed.

  "Me?" Jimin scoffed.

Namjoon stepped forward as Jimin left the back entrance. He came down the steps, ignoring Seokjin and Yoongi, who was now separating. The other two came out of the house as well and Taehyung almost instantly took Yoongi into his arms, taking him away from Seokjin despite not wanting to be pulled away from his friends like that.

Jimin scoffed again as he stepped up to Namjoon. He was much shorter, but Yoongi knows how intimidating he can be. Namjoon seemed to not be affected at all.

"Yeah," Namjoon said, still glaring at Jimin. "You let your leech attach to my friend and now look what you let happen. You knew that we didn't want this to happen. If this is your revenge on Seokjin, then I don't fucking mind getting revenge for myself, Park Jimin. Yoongi is my friend, too. Not just Jin's."

Yoongi watched with his mouth gaped open as Taehyung's arms tightened around him. He could see that Seokjin was still staring at Namjoon in confusion, and he was honestly doing the same. They had never seen Namjoon like this. Especially not as hateful.

Is that what this is? Revenge?

Would Jimin actually want to get revenge on Seokjin by pulling this together? Taehyung wouldn't purposely turn Yoongi into a vampire just to help Jimin get revenge on his ex-boyfriend, right? That must be wrong.

"Are you actually joking, Namjoon?" Jimin asked. He sounded offended, almost like he was hurt by those words. "Why the fuck would I waste my time getting revenge—"

  "Because Seokjin left you."

Jimin's fists clenched and he kept his mouth shut as he gave Namjoon the deadliest of glares. Seokjin backed up a little, dropping his head. "Kim Namjoon," Jimin muttered low and fiercely, still clenching his fists. "If you think I would get revenge on Seokjin like this, you must be fucking out of your mind. I had nothing to do with Yoongi. I told Yoongi since day one to fucking stay away from Taehyung, and you think that I'm the bad guy?"

  Namjoon shrugged.

"Asshole," Jimin continued. "You were fucking nice, once upon a time, Namjoon. Guess you lost your fucking touch."

"You can't blame me for thinking such things, Jimin." Namjoon took a step forward and got in Jimin's face. "You let Taehyung turn one of my best friends into one of us. I hate being a vampire just as much as you do, so why the fuck did you let it happen, huh?"

Taehyung pulled Yoongi backwards, then pulled Jungkook towards him, giving Yoongi off to him. Yoongi's eyes widened as Jungkook held onto him, watching as Taehyung started to walk towards the others.

  "It's my fault," he admitted.

All eyes were on Taehyung now, standing in the middle of the yard with no protection. Yoongi felt like he was choking up at the thought of anyone attacking him. Hoseok probably wouldn't, and Seokjin was the closest one standing to him but didn't look like he was in the mood to hurt him. Namjoon, however, was narrowing his dark eyes at him.

But, Seokjin raised his head and stepped forward, standing closer to Taehyung. "Leave Jimin alone," he told Namjoon, much to everyone's surprise. Even Jimin had his eyes on Seokjin. "You're scaring Yoongi," Seokjin said as he looked up at Namjoon.

Namjoon glanced at Yoongi, who shifted at the eye contact, then he looked up at Jungkook. His jaw clenched at the sight.

"You told me not to be so damn lenient, Seokjin," he groaned, voice raised at said person. Seokjin flinched, but he still stood there and took it. "What? You don't want me to take up for my friends just because it's him we're against? How does that make it fair for us? Huh?"

Seokjin sighed. "We were supposed to all get along. Yoongi wanted that." He frowned back at his best friend. "Yoongi said so himself. It was his choice," he muttered.

But, Jimin scoffed. "It wasn't his choice, Seokjin, " he said.

As if he was being called for, Seokjin turned around and narrowed his eyes at his ex-lover. "What does that mean, Jimin?"

Jimin grumbled and backed away from Namjoon. He walked towards the steps of the porch and sat down on them, clearly tired of being here, arguing. "It means that none of you know the full story."

  "Jimin, stop," Taehyung let out.

"Well, they need to know!" Jimin shouted, his voice stern and enraged. "What the fuck are you even waiting for, Tae...?" He watched in confusion as Hoseok started to move forward so suddenly. Hoseok had his arms raised as he walked into the middle of them all, his hands were open, palms out, and his face was scrunched, eyebrows creased and eyes closed as he mumbled to himself.

  He looked insane.

But a siren was suddenly sent to Yoongi's ears and he winced, not caring about Hoseok's risen hands or expression— the siren was so loud that Yoongi couldn't even hear himself think. He whined, closing his palms over his ears, but the sound still spun his head around. He didn't even notice that everyone else was cursing to themselves until Jungkook let him go to try covering his own ears.

The wind around them picked up, tree leaves falling and whirring all over the place.

Taehyung somehow made his way to Yoongi and wrapped his arms around him even though Yoongi wasn't paying any attention to that. The siren was way too loud to focus. It began to fade away, sounds of the other vampires cursing and groaning coming back to his earshot. He heard Taehyung hissing to himself and Jimin growling.

"What the fuck, Hoseok?" Jimin asked once the noise-canceling disappeared.

Hoseok's face was set in a frown. "Let Yoongi and Taehyung talk." He ignored the wide eyes and confusion, some surprised looks coming from the others. Jimin and Taehyung seemed to be unbothered by the fact that Hoseok had just somehow messed with their ears. Namjoon looked to be in awe. "This isn't about you guys. It's about Yoongi and Taehyung."

Yoongi cleared his throat. "I- I want Tae to explain everything to me before we do this. Can you guys just give us some time alone?"

Seokjin turned to Yoongi and went to him, hugging him again. "I don't want you to be scared of us, Yoongi. You'll always be my best friend and you're always welcome. We'll give you time." He turned to Namjoon and narrowed his eyes. "Right?"

  Namjoon sighed. "Fine."
