Twenty-One
Yoongi and Jungkook ended up building their friendship so well. He never figured that he would be friends with him, but if Jungkook was so willing, then Yoongi was as well. Jungkook even hung out with Namjoon as well, and he had somehow made his way into Hoseok's liking too. He's a ball of fluff and they all think he's adorable, including Seokjin, whether he likes to admit it or not.
However, Taehyung seems to not like it. Yoongi guesses it's because Taehyung is a possessive friend he and doesn't like how much time Yoongi is spending by taking both his time from Taehyung and Jungkook's friendship and also from Taehyung and his friendship. But no matter what, Taehyung always seems down when they're together.
Yoongi doesn't deliberately do it, either. He doesn't like seeing Taehyung so upset. Every minute he takes away from Jungkook and Taehyung's hangout time, he feels bad. He's guilty of taking Jungkook away from him, but he likes being friends with him and he's not going to stop just for Taehyung.
"I win!" Jungkook yelled out as he placed his very last UNO card on the table, serving a plate of loss to Yoongi, Seokjin, and Hoseok.
It was funny, the way Seokjin and Hoseok cried out at their cards. Jin had two left and Hoseok had one— Yoongi had eight. He had no chance of winning anyway, and Jungkook had already won three games tonight, so he wasn't expecting to win any time soon.
"He's cheating," Seokjin declared. "He has to be. There's no way he's won this much. I won't let him get away with it."
"Sorry, Seoks and Yoongs," Jungkook smiled to himself. "I just took that W so hard."
Hoseok's face soured. "Never say that again. Ever, please and thank you," he said.
Jungkook chuckled as he started to stack the UNO cards again. "I kind of want to let Yoongi win one. He's the only one who hasn't won a game." He started shuffling the cards.
"I don't want a pity win," Yoongi said, full offense taken. "I can win without you."
-
Yoongi ended up not winning without Jungkook. Instead, the vampire helped him up until the point where Seokjin complained about how unfair it was. The game is hard for Yoongi, especially when Seokjin kept intentionally making him lose, and so Jungkook turned the tables and helped him win— they teamed up against Seokjin.
Of course, Yoongi didn't feel too great about making Seokjin lose, but he started it. Jungkook merely finished it for Yoongi.
"Well, we have to go anyways." Hoseok stretched his body as he stood up. "Seokjin and I haven't gotten any food, so we're gonna head out and get some—"
"Yeah, I feel like shit," Seokjin cut him off. "And not because my best friend just totally betrayed me, but 'cause I'm hungry."
Yoongi rolled his eyes as his dramatic friend stood up as well. They were now both gathering their things to leave, but Jungkook was sitting down at the dark-wooden table, his fingers tapping the corner and his eyes set on the UNO cards stacked messily in the middle. Yoongi's attention turned back to his other friends as they stepped towards him.
"We'll see you at school tomorrow, bud." Hoseok smiled softly as he patted Yoongi's charcoal hair, earning a small grumble from the person who usually avoids touching. Yoongi most of the time doesn't like being touched, and he doesn't like being called bud, either. Hoseok knows that.
"Asshat," Yoongi huffed.
He was no longer salty— if he even was— with Hoseok. He understands the thing about Taehyung needing to be the one to explain things to Yoongi. Yoongi did what Hoseok asked. He has been friends with Taehyung for so long now and yet he feels like he knows absolutely nothing; not only about Taehyung but about himself as well. It's just a matter of time before Yoongi figures out what's going on. Only a clock tick away and Yoongi will have all secrets unleashed in front of him— so why not now? Why not just rip off the bandaid and tell Yoongi what the hell is going on?
"See you later, Yoongs," Seokjin let out as he walked by him. Yoongi was taken out of his thoughts and nodded back at them.
"Yeah," he muttered so softly that he wasn't sure if either of the two heard him or not. He cleared his dry throat and sat up straighter in his chair, not even noticing that he was hunched over. "I'll see you guys tomorrow," he spoke louder this time. He watched as his friends left the dining room and made their way to the front door. He could hear them telling Yoongi's mother goodbye, too.
"Wanna talk?"
Jungkook's words were unexpected, but Yoongi sighed as he heard them. The vampire was still there, now shuffling the UNO cards in his hands. Yoongi placed his elbow on the table and propped his chin up with his hand.
"About what?" Yoongi asked.
"Whatever you're thinking about." Jungkook finally looked at him, shrugging his shoulders. "Is it about the game? Did something make you uncomfortable? Is it your foot? Did someone kick it or something? Do we need to get another cast? Does it still hurt now that it's gone? Are you even healed—"
"Jungkook, I'm fine." Yoongi chuckled as the boy kept asking questions. He got up from the table and stretched his numb legs out.
"You sure?"
Yoongi nodded, but he could see the raised eyebrow coming from him. "Fine," he finally gave in to those big brown eyes of his. Jungkook grinned at him. "Let's go to my room and talk, then. I'm tired of these chairs."
They headed up the stairs to Yoongi's room and sighed as they both plopped down onto his bed. It was comfortable— way better than the dining table chairs they were sitting on.
"So, what's up?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi stared up at the bright ceiling. He figures that Jungkook knew something was on his mind because he had gotten distracted just a moment ago downstairs. Maybe Yoongi had gotten distracted more, who knows?
"Why is everyone keeping things from me, Koo?" he asked. This caught Jungkook's attention, who was now sitting up and listening closely to him. "I mean, if it's a vampire thing, I get it. But Jungkook, it's not. It's not a vampire thing." He raised up as well and pulled his hoodie over his head.
Jungkook watched in awe as Yoongi started to strip in front of him. First, his hoodie came off. He threw the black cotton into the floor and then he started to take off his white t-shirt. He could tell that Jungkook was unsure of what was going on, judging by the wide eyes and parted lips. But as Yoongi turned around, he heard a soft hum from the vampire.
"Nice tattoo," Jungkook said.
Yoongi turned his head only to see Jungkook staring at his left shoulder, biting the inside of his cheek as he examined it.
"Jungkook, this isn't a tattoo." Yoongi let his head fall back as he groaned to himself. He felt as Jungkook reached his hand out, his fingers brushing over the mark. His hands were cold and Yoongi would've said something, but he knows Jungkook is just curious.
"It's not?" he asked.
"No," Yoongi mumbled. "It's been there since I was born. And Taehyung knew about it. Taehyung was the only one who knew. The thing, though, is that I didn't tell him I had a mark. He already knew." He leaned over and picked up his shirt and hoodie, pulling them back over his head. "It must mean Taehyung, right?" he asked as he turned back around to Jungkook. The vampire nodded.
"That makes sense, hyung."
Yoongi tried to ignore the hyung part. But why is a vampire who is way older than him calling him hyung? "I don't know, Koo. Maybe it's something else." He laid back on the bed again. "It's whatever. I guess I'll just never know." He watched as Jungkook laid next to him. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"Don't worry, hyung," Jungkook let out, his soft voice the only thing in the quiet room. "You're not the only one who feels out of this loop," he said. Yoongi felt bad for Jungkook in a way. They both have that in common; always being left out of what's going on. "Just sleep on it, okay? It'll come eventually."
He listened to the boy, drifting off into the sound of nothing. With total blackness and no interruptions, Yoongi fell asleep quickly.
-
"Hyung."
Yoongi whirled at the buzzing in his ear. Faint touches and speaking was making his mind fuzzy and suddenly his eyes were shooting open as he felt a body on top of him.
"Hyung," Jungkook repeated. "Get up. We're going to be late for school."
Yoongi blinked in confusion, his mind still processing what was happening. Jungkook was on top of him, shaking his arms like there was no tomorrow. He squirmed under the vampire, flustered as he realized that Jungkook was touching him so much, waking him up.
"Get off," he grumbled, smacking the vampire's thigh. Jungkook got off of him but didn't hesitate to pull Yoongi by his arm.
"Late!" Jungkook repeated.
Yoongi turned to look at his clock, which was blurry in his vision. His alarm didn't go off, so Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows as he was dragged out of his bed. "My alarm hasn't even gone off yet." He whined to himself.
"What time do you usually wake up?" Jungkook asked in disbelief.
"Seven." He looked at the clock again and groaned at the first number. "You woke me up at six? Are you crazy?" he asked.
Jungkook chuckled. "Well, you're up now. Might as well get ready for school."
"Asshole."
"I'll walk you to the bus."
-
Something about this day just drove Yoongi crazy. Not because he was woken up early, but because he just felt weird. The feeling in the air was so eery. The air was thick and Yoongi could barely breathe or concentrate. He and Jungkook had made it to the bus, so maybe Yoongi was just feeling this way because of how crowded it was. He only takes the bus when he's too lazy to drive or doesn't feel like it. Today, he took it because of Jungkook, who somehow stayed at Yoongi's last night.
When they finally got off of the bus, Jungkook walked with Yoongi to his class. He offered to and Yoongi didn't mind. It's a normal thing that he does with all of his friends.
For some reason, he couldn't keep his mind off of Taehyung. Every inch of him was drowning Yoongi. His mind was filled with thoughts of his pretty skin, his beautiful black wavy hair, piercing, dark eyes, soft hands, and the way he makes Yoongi feel. He makes Yoongi feel so helplessly drawn in. All he does is hold his hand and Yoongi comes undone. He looks at him and he feels his knees weaken. He speaks in that low, unique voice of his.
Yoongi hates that he loves it all.
"Well, we're here." Jungkook's voice brought Yoongi back into the real world.
He came face to face with his first class. Jungkook didn't speak at all the whole way here and he hadn't questioned if Yoongi was thinking about something again.
"Thanks for walking me," Yoongi told him. "I'll see you later, I guess."
He turned away from the vampire and was about to walk into his classroom, but his hand was grabbed and he was spun back around to face Jungkook— only to be brought with something new. Only to be pulled into a surprise. Only to come lips to lips with Jungkook, who had his eyes shut tightly and eyebrows creased together as if he was striving for something so tremendous.
Yoongi was frozen. He wasn't expecting Jungkook to ever, ever kiss him.
The kiss was short because Jungkook almost instantly pulled away. He brought his own hand to his chest as he looked back at Yoongi, a soft of guilty, yet innocent look on his face. He almost looked like just a normal human being. Yoongi wondered if this is the change in personality that Taehyung had once mentioned. Jungkook acted like a big and bad vampire when they first met, following orders and doing whatever he wanted, but now Jungkook truly looks like a regular human with regular human troubles.
"I- I'm sorry," Jungkook let out, his voice small and sort of weak. "I just thought... I don't know. It's— It's been forever since I've had human interaction, honestly. You're so nice, and I always feel like I'm normal when I'm with you." He frowned to himself. "I don't know what I was thinking. I— I probably just messed up our little friendship, huh?"
Yoongi just chuckled at him.
"You're adorable," he said. "I can't believe you had that in you. It's okay to feel normal around me," he reassured him. "It's okay. But if you ever kiss me again, I'll chop your dick off."
Jungkook laughed lightly, his tense body unfastening at the joke. "Noted."
Yoongi didn't want to be rude or make things awkward between them. Jungkook is one of his good friends now. "I thought you liked Joon, anyways?" Yoongi raised his eyebrow at him. Jungkook's big eyes enlarged even more.
"What? Why?" he asked.
Yoongi just shrugged and turned to his classroom again. Whoever Jungkook likes is none of his business, but it sure is funny to see Jungkook getting all shy again.
