Part 8

Today, I'd say, was another one of the boring days. Fortunately, Koro-sensei had to organize something with Sugaya-kun's parents so the class was left wild and noisy. Sighing, I started chatting with Ritsu-san about different types of Sushi.

"Yes! And maybe even add salt..." I continued babbling about how salt would change the flavor of Sushi. "Really? You know a Sushi Resto? Where is it? I wanna go there."

"Sure. Your sushi resto? I'm craving for some sushi, perfect timing." I overheard Karma speak with Hazama-san and Itona-kun. Cue my stomach grumbling. The day was almost nearing its end and class would be over any minute now. I'm hungry and tired, and sushi is the perfect therapy for those things. But I'm shy to come over and just join along; Hazama-san didn't even invite me.

"Oh, you want to come along, (y/n)-chan?" Karma suddenly turned to me. He was smiling. I didn't know if that was a genuine smile or if there is anything behind that smile. In any case, he looked adorable. It'd be lovable if it was genuine though.

"No." I still have to be alert.

"Come on, I know you love sushi."

I mustered up all my courage so I could say, "No. I'm going home." I was so stubborn. I badly wanted that sushi, but I just wanted to be careful around Karma. He may seem not dangerous at first blush but you must really have to see his true colours for you to believe.

"Okay, if you say so." He replied mockingly and invited some of my classmates. None of them turned down his offer. Man, it's even better if you're eating sushi with your classmates. But I just can't come with him. I know that this would be a golden opportunity—I'll get to know my classmates better—but danger is ahead.

"I'll go home. Enjoy." I beamed bitterly, gripping my bag.

"You won't come?" Asked Itona-kun. I felt my heart go warm and flutter.

"Yeah. I guess you should email me about the happenings later?" Cue laugh awkwardly. Though, wish he'd really do that. There's nothing wrong with expecting an email from him, right?

"Oh. Hope you'll feel better." He doesn't know what he's making me feel. He doesn't know how his words affect me so much.

"Yeah, we don't want "Yia" on the hospital." Maehara grinned, giving me a noogie. I shook my head and chortled.

I walked home silently, staring up ahead at my classmates (or more like Itona-kun) who were laughing at Terasaka’s sushi joke.

“What are you doing?”

The phone fell down on my face.

“Playing a game.”

“Really? And you’re using the message app to play the game? How lovely.” Mom said, sarcasm lacing her voice. “I came to tell you that dinner is ready.”

“What’s for dinner?”

“Pork Tonkatsu, Vegetable Salad, and the newly cooked Sushi.”

“Sushi?” My eyes shimmered as I heard the magic word. “I’m coming down in a minute. Wait. Since when did you learn the steps in cooking Sushi? You always failed, right?”

Mom shot me daggers before answering, “You didn’t have to rub the painful truth in my face. The Sushi was delivered.” Before I could even reply, I felt Mom giving me a painful nudge. “You have a courter.” She whispered.

“Give it a rest.” I didn’t spend any time on asking who was the one who gave that Sushi because I was really hungry and my stomach couldn’t take it anymore.

After eating, I proceeded to doing my assignments and waiting for Itona-kun’s email. An hour passed and soon it was already my curfew.

I changed into my nighttime clothes as I thought about how enjoyable it would be if I came with my classmates.

A rustle from outside my window interrupted my train of thoughts. Quietly, I picked up a frying pan that was kept in my cabinet and slowly crept towards the window. When the “thief” showed up, I immediately smacked him with it as a defense multiple times.

“Ow! Ow! Ow! (y/n), would you calm down?” Karma!? What the heck was he doing here? How did he enter? Mom always made sure to lock our gates. Man, was he strong.

“Hey! Why are you here?”

Karma massaged the top of his head. “Didn’t you read the letter?”

“Uhh... no?”

Karma sighed. “That explains. Anyway, I’m here to tell you a story.”

“What, a bedtime story? If you’re here to make fun of me, get out.”

“No, I’m not here to do that. I came to tell you how fun it was in the Sushi Resto.” I narrowed my eyes at him. Where did he get the idea of me desiring to hear everything that had happened earlier? I mean I do but nobody told him...

“So? Will you listen or not?”

Feeling skepticism, I nodded. "Go ahead..."

"So about Itona-kun." What the heck. He knows that I have a crush on him? "Earlier, we played a game. A girl came up to him—and trust me, she had big boobs, you know he loves them—therefore he flirted with her gladly."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked dryly. I'm mad, an understatement.

"Why, are you jealous?" He retorted, eyeing me. "Well?" He neared his face towards mine and caged me with his arms, making my heart pound erratically in my chest. Upon realisation, I pushed him off of me.

"What are you doing?" I whispered as he staggered back.

"What do you think?" His shining, golden eyes that had a lot of emotions inside it bore into mine. "(y/n)-chan, I know you like Itona."

In an instant, he made me kneel. "Please don't tell him!" This was Karma. And he knew how to play with me. Maybe doing what he likes will stop him from blackmailing me—from revealing my feelings to Itona-kun. "I'll do what you want me to do. Please."

"No need." Karma breathed out as he stood by the window. "Thanks for listening. And don't worry, I won't let the cat out of the bag."
