Part 22

About the previous chapter... since I'm considerate about the young readers here, I don't think lemons are appropriate. Still, hesitation is on me. If diligence rains down, I might put it up as a private chapter. Lol, thanks for reading!

I woke up with nothing in my mind but cleaning the house. I was trying to process everything that had happened last night because Karma left. No one was there to tell me the events.

Remembering it, I shuddered. Awesome wasn't the best way to describe it.

I tried to push away the thoughts and started dusting off the ceiling and wiping the walls. We didn't have such a big house, but it was difficult to clean nevertheless. My back ached for some reason along with my neck.

For the next five hours, all I did was wipe off every dirt I see. I was thankful we had the vacuum cleaner or else.

By the time I finished, it was already 2 in the afternoon and my stomach screamed food. Right. No food since Mom hasn't done her shopping yet.

I was about to lose hope when I saw, something stuck under the dining table. Two sticky notes and... money?

Hey sweetie. Do the groceries for me. The money is under this note and you know what to buy.

– Mom ♥

There's a lavender colored sticky note under the desk, right beside Mom's.

Tomboy, the food is in the house. Just find it.

– Strawberry

What, is this an easter egg hunt? I appreciate the food, but finding it made me doublethink about thanking him once I see him.

Sighing, I took a quick bath and headed over to the nearest grocery store. It took me ten minutes to buy everything, which was the fastest thing I did today so far.

Next, I went to my favourite fast food chain that wasn't too far from here. I stepped inside, and my face fell when my eyes roamed around the room and I spotted a mop of red hair. We locked eyes for a split second, and I pretended I didn't notice him when he waved to invite me over to his table.

There was no way in hell I would ever eat with him.

Luckily, the fast food chain didn't have any tables left so I turned around to leave.

The burger though. Man, I could take out, but I think that's not a good idea with Karma around.

I felt someone pulling a strand of my hair. "Ow!"

"Are you a ninny or what? My hands were up since you were outside and you didn't even notice me?" He sounded as pissed as Rapunzel's mother, which made this scene quite amusing in a way. "Come on. I'll get you your favorite."

I squinted my eyes at him as he pulled me over to his table. "This is your treat for bringing me here. And wait, since when did you have an idea of my favorite food here?"

"Since forever?" He said confidently without looking back. Wow. I can definitely tell that he's a top-ranked stalker from now on.

I waited for our order as my tummy growled.

Surely, this wasn't a date right? And if it is, then this was the friendly type.

Karma came back with my favorite cheeseburger and iced tea. He had his own order too which was roasted beef and water. It's not strawberry juice...

"Hey, sweetheart."

I furrowed my brows. He's drunk.

"Topic?" He tilted his head and took a bite of his food.

"Are you Karma or Maehara? Flirting seems to be your forte too."

"What?" Karma inquired defensively. "I just want to get to know you!"

"Well that's close to flirting, if you didn't know."

Karma sighed, "You allowed me to court you. Don't I deserve getting to know you?" That shut me up in an instant. "My future girlfriend?"

I quirked a brow. "Don't be so sure that I'll be your girlfriend."

"There's a chance." He shrugged, smiling.

"I just had pity for you that's why I allowed you to court me." I retorted.

Karma's eyes flinched and he let go of the spoon and fork. He shot me an emotionless look before proceeding to eating again. And then we had this awkward silence we never dreaded. We didn't speak once more, and I didn't attempt to start up a topic with him. We weren't really friends to begin with.

What, soon-to-be lovebirds?

Shut up, conscience.

It was half-true. It was pity that pushed me to giving him a chance. I also thought that he might really change for me, you know, because of the sh*t we call love. But I won't tell him that of course. He might get all cocky and assume that I like him already. I didn't want him to have false hope.

Going back, for the whole time we were together, we had this uncomfortable quietness enveloping us. Of course, I was the first one to finish up my food. I stole glances as he slowly chewed the beef.

When he ate all of it, he suddenly let out a burp. I couldn't help but stifle a giggle. "What?" He asked, voice icy. I shuddered.

I thought of thanking him for giving me money even though I wasn't able to use it since he treated me. "U-Um. Thank you." He pursed his lips and eyed me questioningly. "For the money, the treat and for having lunch with me." He smirked snidely. I had the urge to roll my eyes. This guy was back to his old self.

"You're welcome, babe."

Babe?!

I didn't pay attention to that and continued with my little appreciation speech. "And I want to return to you the money. I didn't use it up anyway."

Karma shook his head. "No need. You're saving up money for guitar, right?"

I put down my extended hand. "What the hell dude. You're driving me insane with your stalking skills."

"Aw, you're so sweet." He grinned like a Cheshire lovesick cat which crept me out more than anything. "You're driving me insane, too." He winked. I didn't know if he had Maehara's flirting lessons, but he definitely learned something because that sent me the chills. Or maybe he already had that trait from the very beginning. "Come on now, I'll lend you a hand with your grocery bags."

I stared at him with an astounded face. Maybe he's a nice guy, and giving him a chance would be worth the shot.

Okay, I didn't end this chapter up with a cliffhanger! I hope you guys don't scream at me now.
