Part 18
Lol. I shouldn't be updating this early but I was in the mood. Happy reading! :)

"I uh—"
"Never mind. I'm going." Karma waved his hands dismissively and made a move to stand up. He dusted off his pants and started walking away when I stopped him.
"He rejected me."
Three words. It caused me pain that supposedly shouldn't be felt. With those three words, I felt sorrow creeping in. How it resulted to weakness I had no idea.
Absentmindedly I continued, "Itona finally gave me his answer. It's close to unexpected. After all, I never begged him for one. But the good thing is that it's now pretty clear. I'm not going to let hope light up inside me anymore because the truth was said." My voice broke by the end of my short story. I sounded pathetic. Pitiful.
"You didn't do it to me?" He retorted, a hint of mocking and a little bit of grief in it. "Kidding aside, don't let it bother you. Thinking of it too much may do you nothing good."
I kept quiet. For awhile, I've hesitated on talking. And asking, if I may add. "Karma," I said in a hushed voice. It felt uncanny as I muttered his name. "What did you feel when I rejected you?"
This time, Karma was the one who zipped his mouth and stared at the horizon. I didn't know if he heard me or whatever, but a good thirty minutes passed and we were just silent. I never made a move to ask him again.
But he still answered. "I'm a human. I don't have stroke. I'm not numb. Of course everyone who wasn't loved back would be hurt." I cringed. Was he making me feel guilty or what? He was supposed to be there to comfort someone who was rejected, yet here he is, rubbing the fact in my face that I got a taste of my own medicine.
I wasn't able to think of a good answer to that. I guess blabbering until no saliva is left wouldn't lighten up the mood so instead of staying there with him longer, I told him we should go back to school. "Why not stay here?" He queries after a moment.
"I'm not like you who skips classes whenever he feels like it." I stated.
"You do if you're not in the mood or something dark happened." He uttered, causing me to blush. Okay, Karma catches me red handed and wins the argument at this point. But still. I think I couldn't last another minute with him anymore. "Just stay. It's not gonna affect you."
"How about the lectures and assignments?" I reasoned out.
"We can ask them later when the octopus dismisses them."
"Hold it, Strawberry." I raised my hand up to prevent him from talking further.
Karma's eyebrows shoot up. "Strawberry? Again? Seriously?"
I shrugged, "I will go because I want to, and someone like you couldn't stop me." With that, I turned on my heels and walked away confidently. His eyes were, somehow, on my shoes. I realized what his look meant a second too late when I fell down on my knees. Stupid shoes.
"Next time," Karma smirked. "Make sure you do a perfect exit."
Humiliated at the last minute, aye.
°·•~
"Dunno." I mused.
"Hmm. I do think he doesn't like someone. He seems asexual."
I swirled my straw. "I've encountered that thought lots of times already, Kayano-chan. Itona just likes..." I trailed off, wondering if I would even continue.
"What?"
"Boobs."
Kayano-chan blinked. "O-Oh." She arched a brow. "Does that mean he's a pervert?"
"You could say that he somehow has Koro-sensei's traits." I shook my head. "At a newer topic," I smirked. "What happened between you and Nagisa-kun?"
Kayano's cheeks flushed and she put her index finger over her lips. Whoops. Too loud. "W-Well, he shows off mixed signals, but most possibly he doesn't see someone as of right now."
"How can you be so sure?"
She looked down, her cheeks slowly returning to normal and spoke solemnly, "I just am. I mean, Nagisa is not the lover-boy type of guy. I don't know if he had a crush on someone in the past, but I can see that at this point, there's none."
I was about to squeeze more information from her when Maehara burst through the doors of the mini-coffee shop we were in, face exclaiming panic. "K-Kayano-chan! (y/n)-chan!"
We both shot him inquisitive stares. "Karma... he's...!"
Honestly, I didn't give a damn, but I was still his classmate. "Did something occur?" Kayano queried worriedly.
"He's now a little fine. Little for me means that he was about to die earlier, but as I went here to find you guys, Koro-sensei messaged me and said that his breathing is slowly coming back." Maehara snatched the milkshake I had and took a sip. "Are you guys coming with me or nah?"
"Yeah."
"No."
Maehara switched his gaze from Kayano to me. "And why are you not available, (y/n)-chan?"
"Well, there's this project that is due next week and I'm nowhere near finished. Robotics, remember?"
Maehara threw me a skeptical look then nodded. "If you say so. C'mon, Kayano-chan." And without further ado, my companion left me alone. "So I have experimented..."
I stared at the window and saw them getting farther away from here, chattering about something I had no clue of.
Minutes later, I decided to go out and just go home. It wasn't as if I could do more things inside the coffee shop.
"(y/n)-chan." Koro-sensei blocked my way. Literally. He's a big obstacle that couldn't be taken down easily. "Can you accompany me?"
I pursed my lips, giving it a thought. I still had little time with me and I should actually be beginning with the project right now. Perhaps spending it with Koro-sensei wouldn't be so bad. "Okay, to where?"
"To Karma-kun."
I narrowed my eyes. "Maehara-kun already invited me earlier and I turned him down. We have robotics project, remember? I haven't even prepared my materials yet."
"I don't care. He wants to see you."
Karma Akabane wants to see me?
