2) Wake
First Person POV
You step back into your room in a panic. The person, dressed in all black, wear a white face mask where you can see their teeth. Perfect teeth. They grin devilishly. You quickly close the door against the person and push against the door with all of your body weight.
Sweat creases your forehead. You snap awake in a daze but don't open your eyes. What about the fall? Thump. Thump. Is that.. your heart. Was the entire fall a dream? You try to open your eyes. Their crusted shut. You breathe in the air through your nose. The smell of burning logs and butterscotch pie waft inside your nose. It makes your belly rumble. The problem of not opening your eyes weighs on your mind. This time, you pull harder to open your eyes. Its successful. You immediately come to look up at the ceiling. A lamp has a red shade, casting a redish light across the walls and ceiling.
You look to you're left, a small gray mouse sits on the small table beside you against the wall. This has to be a dream, it has to be. But this isn't your room back at home, neither are you asleep. It all feels too.. real. Theres a stinging in your head. The Buzz from the alcohol you drank. I guess I have a hangover you think. Maybe its a realistic dream.
You slowly sit up on the bed, listening for any sign that people are in the house. You can hear a crackling fire. Theres a slight ringing sound in your ears that makes it hard to hear any sound beside your own breathing. You put one foot over the edge, you make sure the bottom of your Adidas shoes are the first thing to touch the floor. You guess all that sneaking to go get something to eat at Twelve A.M really did help in the end.
After the first foot reaches the ground, you make sure the second one doesn't make a squeak against the clean wooden floor. If that fall was real. This, where you were sleeping. Is a monsters home. What if they're waiting for you to wake up because if you were asleep you'd taste worse. Or- You push those thoughts away. You have to focus on the mission ahead.
Getting out of here.
You make it to the door without a sound. You open the door up, theres a light snickering from you're right. You look over to the right and see three people with their backs turned towards you. You look to your left and there seems to be a dead end with a door on the left. Deciding that the exit is probably near the living room. You sneak to the right, towards the people.
You sneak a little more when you look to you're left and see a small hallway that ends with a door. This is the only chance you'll get. You hold your breath as you scramble to the door, what feels like a rug moves under your feet. It wraps around your ankle and pulls against you.
No. You can't die here. They'll just eat you. You pull against the rug, it releases and you thump head first against the wooden door. You quickly disregard the feeling and try to open the door. It doesn't open.
There seems to be something holding the door back, like when you pulled against the knob to stop someone from intruding into your room. Theres a snickering from behind you.
You look behind you, you expected something worse. It looks like a female, she wears a green and yellow striped shirt with small shorts. She holds a bar of chocolate against her mouth. You frown slightly.
"What? Am I not scary enough?" She says and her red eyes pierce against your E/C eyes. It should make you scared but. For some reason it doesn't. "Chara, can we hold off on scaring my brother?" Mason? His grey long sleeve shirt is dirty now. It probably costed a lot of money. This is You're fault. You're the reason why he fell down here.
You run to him and hug him, tears form in your eyes. He hugs you back, you can feel the love in his hug. "Wow, so cute!" A girl appears from behind Mason and the girl named Chara. She has brown hair like Chara but its shorter and more clean cut. She wears a blue and purple long sleeved shirt. "Its not cute, its annoying." Chara says.
You release your brother and step back. "Were you guys the one doing stuff with the rug?" You ask and look over at the rug on the floor. Its creased slightly and uneven. Frisk points at Chara. "Shes the only one who can do that." Chara looks at Frisk and practically growls at her.
"So powers are real?" You ask, Mason shrugs.
"Yeah. Most humans have them, it's just not activated. Falling to the underground should activate them though. Thats why the fallen humans were so powerful." Frisk tells you. "Mine is being able to read minds." She finishes. That could be terrible for you.
"Theres a downside though, its mentally draining. Like, really." Frisk says. You nod. This is so much to take in, you suppose you're still in shock.
"Anyways, Why'd you both fall down here?" Chara asks, her red colored eyes have slightly dimmed. Its beautiful. Her eyes draw you in, it takes you into a hold. Its mesmerizing. You look away to not seem weird, Mason speaks up for you. "I wanted to go do something different, MT.Ebott seemed quiet and a good place to see the stars from. Y/N followed me up." Mason says, he always takes the blame. If he would've said that he was following you. They'd probably ask you questions that you don't want to answer.
Chara still chews on the chocolate lazily. She's eyes with quiet curiosity. Like a predator watching their prey before they eat them. Frisk and Mason talk to each other quietly.
"Do you want a piece?" Chara asks. She takes a small piece off, About the size of her pinkie. You nod. "Er- Okay." She hands you the piece. You quickly place it in your mouth.
Chara looks over at you. "You're..familiar." You shake your head. You haven't seen this girl before. She looks at you for a long time before turning away. She walks towards what looks like a kitchen. Frisk stops talking to Mason and looks over at you. "Y/N. How old are you?" Frisk asks. You turn towards her, "Sixteen." You answer. She laughs to herself. Its slightly high pitched, but its not to the point of being annoying.
"You're the same age as Chara. Which means I'm two years older then you!"
"I have a question." You say, Frisk nods. "I remember vividly a goat lady; who's that?" You ask. Frisk giggles.
"Thats Toriel, more commonly known as Goat Mom. Shes the one who scouts the place where you fell for humans. Shes a really nice lady." Frisk finishes and looks over at Mason. He nods again, if he says she's nice. She must be nice right?
Frisk grabs Masons hand and he blushes slightly. She pulls him toward a fireplace.
"Its getting pretty late I'd guess, but since we're underground. We can't really see the light or night. Anyways, you guys should get some sleep. We'll talk more when Toriel gets back. Then we'll get you something to eat." Mason nods, "Also. You guys can sleep on the beds. We'll wait out here." Frisk lets go of Mason's hand and smiles disarmingly. It feels like a weight is lifted off your shoulders, now that you finally have a friend.
Mason pats your back and starts walking toward the guest room. You look toward the kitchen and see Chara leaning against the wall, watching you with those predatory eyes. You follow close behind Mason and shiver slightly.
Nobody's POV
"You're getting too attached." Chara says, "They'll leave, like everyone else does." Frisk sighs. A frown creasing her face.
"Chara, why can't you just be likeable for just a second." Frisk says, she immediately regrets it and looks down at the ground.
Chara looks over at her friend. "I'm sorry that I would rather be serious then get my feelings hurt everytime someone leaves." Chara shakes her head and walks back into the kitchen, her red knife sits on the counter. It seems to beat almost in sync with her heart.
