Twenty-Four: Crazy, Messy, Weirdly Wonderful Life(rewritten)
The next morning I woke up curled into Jack with his arm around me and him snoring very loudly in my ear. Jack tightened his grip on me. The snoring stopped for a few seconds and I fell back to sleep. When I woke up a little while later I was alone in the bed. I sat up, stretched and then grabbed Jack's phone off the nightstand to check the time. Jack's lock screen was still the picture from my gotcha day. It was already ten thirty. I got off the bed and got clean clothes from my room before walking into the bathroom to take a shower. When I finished I stepped into the hallway and stopped when I heard Jack talking. There was some shuffling and the light clatter of dishes before something glass hit the floor and shattered.
"Fuck." Zack laughed. And that was when I stopped being creepy and decided to make an appearance in the kitchen.
"Good morning!" I said as I walked in. Jack was picking glass up off the floor, Leo was aimlessly stirring a bowl of cereal at the bar and Zack was leaning against the counter drinking a cup coffee.
"Morning baby girl. Sleep well?" Jack asked.
"Better than I thought I would." I opened the freezer and dug around for a few minutes before coming up with a package of frozen waffles. I put two in the toaster, poured myself a glass of orange juice and then leaned against the counter to wait for my waffles. Tesla was eating her breakfast and Rory was sitting under the table and seeing them reminded me that I hadn't seen Castle in awhile.
"Have any of you seen Castle?" I asked.
"Oh. Right." Jack put the broken glass in the trash can and then turned to face me. "About a week and a half ago when Lisa came to check on them he shot out the door before she could catch him and he hasn't come back. I'm sorry."
"Oh." Silence blanketed the room and was only broken by my waffles popping up. I put them on a plate and buttered them. Jack began washing dishes and Zack downed the last of his coffee before handing his mug to Jack. I sat down at the counter and ate my waffles while Jack washed dishes and Zack headed down the hall.
"When I finish with the dishes I'm gonna head out to run some errands. I left my toothbrush in a hotel and I've lost almost all my socks so . . . Anyway. Zack is coming with me, what about you two?"
"Um, I should wash my sheets and scrub my mattress so I think I'll stay here." I said.
"I'll stay too." Leo whispered.
"You sure?" I nodded and took another bite of waffle. Jack drained the sink. "Ok. Oh before I forget, your blanket is in the dryer." I smiled and nodded as I took a bite of waffle. "Zack!" He yelled, leaning out around the wall to look down the hall.
"Coming!" Came the reply. A few minutes later Zack came back and they both put on their shoes and coats.
"Back in a bit, baby girl." He started to open the door, "Do you need anything at the store?" I thought for a few seconds.
"Would you be totally opposed to running by a bookstore and looking for a couple books for me?"
"Of course not. What books?"
"Just a sec." I ran down the hall and dug through my suitcase in search of the jeans I'd worn to my doctors appointment. I found the sheet of paper with the book list and ran back to the kitchen.
"You don't have to get them all just one or two." I said as I handed him the paper.
"Ok."
"Oh and a Gala apple. Please?"
"Sure thing. Bye."
"Bye, Dad." He smiled and closed the door. I finished my breakfast, washed my dishes, turned on my All Time Low radio station on Pandora and tackled my bed with help from Leo. I took the sheets off and put them in the washer and then he scrubbed at my mattress for the better part of half an hour before deciding it was good enough. Then I reorganized my suitcase and while doing so found my sonogram pictures. I taped a couple to the wall above my dresser. Then we laid down on Jack's bed and listened to Twenty-One Pilots until I fell asleep.
I woke up about an hour later when the door opened with a bang. Jack and Zack were back. Leo was no longer in bed with me.
"Baby girl?" Jack called. I stood and stretched, ran my fingers through my hair and then walked out of his room. "Hey! Got your books." He set a plastic bag full of books on the table.
"I said just one or two." He smiled and shrugged.
"And as requested one Golden delicious apple." He pulled the apple from a different bag.
"I actually asked for a Gala Apple, but it's okay."
"Told you she said Gala." Zack said, walking past with another bag of stuff.
"Sorry, baby girl." Jack said with a sigh.
"It's fine. I'll eat this one any way." I took the apple from him and then started pulling books from the bag. All of the books from the list were there. Leo wasn't in the kitchen or the living room. Probably down the hall I decided. I sliced up my apple and then sat at the table and started reading one of the books. Zack had bought Leo a bunch of stuff while they were out. Leo got very awkward and disappeared down the hall for an hour. I assured him he was okay. He just didn't know how to handle the situation.
At eight I found out why Leo hadn't been in bed when I woke up from my nap. He'd made my bed for me. We all went to bed earlier than normal because we had to be at the airport at four am for our flight that left at six. I never really fell asleep. I dozed for a bit around two am, but otherwise I was wide awake and staring at the ceiling. I would need an IV drip of coffee to keep me going. Zack came and got me at four. We drug ourselves and our suitcases out the door. Zack drove since Jack could barely keep his eyes open. Once we got to the airport and through security we got coffee. Jack tweeted a half dozen times and sounded like he was drunk. Zack and I verified that he was not. Shortly after five Alex and Rian showed up. None of us spoke as none of us were really morning people. Around five thirty I rested my head on Jack's arm and dozed, but I didn't have long to rest there before our flight was boarding. Jack offered me the window seat, but I was too tired to care so he sat there and I sat beside him with Leo on my other side. Jack crossed his arms and rested his head against the window. In seconds he was asleep. Leo put his seat back as far as it go and closed his eyes. I decided to try and sleep. I rested my head on Leo's shoulder and closed my eyes. I was almost asleep when he started snoring. I would've just listened to music until I fell asleep, but I'd left my ear buds on my nightstand. So I sat there wishing I could fall asleep and hoping that the flight attendant would start offering drinks soon.
"Longest seven hours of my life." I mumbled as we walked off the plane. Jack was pretty much carrying me.
"I need coffee." Jack said around a yawn. Zack nodded and yawned which in turn made me yawn. We stood by baggage claim leaning on each other and watching the suitcases go around.
Once we had our bags we got an uber and went to the hotel. Zack and Jack took showers and then went down to the restaurant in the hotel to get food. I took a short shower and decided to catch up on my sleep. Leo showered too and then joined me on my bed for a nap. I slept for about two hours and woke up starving. Jack, lucky for me, had anticipated this and brought back food for me. Zack and Leo has their own room, but Leo didn't go to it until eight that evening. Not that it bothered me at all. I was too tired for that.

Seattle was, to make a long story short, wet and cold and I didn't really care for it, but unfortunately we were there for close to two weeks. Our first day there they had an acoustic show in a music shop. They let me make the set list. Six songs. It was a lot harder than I anticipated. But I did it. Eventually. The only song I knew for certain they had to perform was For Baltimore. I loved it and so far hadn't seen them perform it. This was the perfect opportunity.
"I don't want to stay the night the city comes alive when we're together. Why can't Tuesday last forever?" Alex sang. I stood to the side, dressed in jeans and one of Jack's hoodies in an endeavor to hide my barely noticeable baby bump. Leo stood beside me, dressed the same as me and drawing on his hands and arms with a blue pen. They finished the song and everyone cheered.
"I just realized that you said Tuesday instead of Thursday." Zack said with a laugh.
"I was gonna point that out too." Jack added.
"Why can't Tuesday last forever, Zack?" Alex said while trying, and failing, to hide a laugh. I giggled and caught Jack's eye. He smiled and I returned it with one of my own and a wave.
"We have a lot of songs I can't remember the words to all of them okay?" Alex laughed and fixed his beanie.
"Excuses, excuses." Jack said.
"Tune your guitar." Alex said and turned his attention to the audience.
I giggled again. People could say what they wanted about Jack, a single man, adopting a teenage girl, but I love my family. A lot.

The next day before the concert Zack and I were alone in the back lounge.
"Could I talk to you for a second?" He asked. I closed my phone nodded. "Is Leo okay?"
"I think so. Why?"
"He just doesn't talk much."
"He's just shy and antisocial. He and I talk a lot. But we've known each other for four years so." Zack nodded.
"Is-I'm not bothering him or anything, right?" I giggled.
"No. No. He's the happiest he's ever been. Don't worry." He smiled.
"Ok. Oh one other thing. Jack has it in his head that you and Leo are dating, is he right?"
"I. . . don't know. I'll be right back." Leo was in what used to be the junk bunk.
"Hey." I said as I pulled the curtain back.
"Hi?"
"Be my boyfriend?" I asked. I smiled at the look of pure joy that covered his face when I said that.
"Absolutely." I leaned up on my tip toes and grabbed his face to bring it closer to me so I could kiss him on the lips.
"Okay. Bye!" I closed the curtain and walked back to the back lounge.
"Yes we are. Don't tell Dad. I'll do it." Then I left to find Dad.
