The Great Betrayal!

I gulped. Sans watched me closely, waiting for my response. Whatever I choose, whatever I say.......... I am going to change the outcome. If I chose wrong, I risk hurting those I care about and Naomi's death would be in vain. If chosen correctly, nothing will change; for the worst at least.

I will make it to the King's castle.

I will have friends to help me along the way.

I would make the monster's, those I've met, lives better...........

I can prove to Flowey that he is wrong.

I sighed and shuffled in my seat; the tension so thick that you could easily cut it with scissors. I looked at the mysterious skeleton and said my answer: ¨Yes.¨

He looked away for a few seconds before returning his gaze back to me. ¨so you know all about it.¨ Sans asked, the sound of bones cracking filling the dead silent room. No one spoke; making the tension thicker by the second. My heart sank as I thought what I answered was the death of me. I squeezed my eyes shut; waiting for the outburst from the skeleton and the uproar of outraged monsters. After a few seconds, I opened one eye to see Sans drinking ketchup from its bottle.

¨so you know about the echo flowers.¨ I sighed in relief, knowing the subject wasn't about Flowey. But, knowing that I just confirmed that I knew about Echo Flowers, I nodded my head and took another fry into my mouth.

¨they're all over the marsh. say something to them, and they'll repeat it over and over..............¨

¨What about the Echo Flowers?¨ I questioned, looking at him, curiously. He smirked and looked away, still talking without making eye-contact.

¨well, papyrus told me something interesting the other day. sometimes, when no one else is around.............. a flower appears and whispers things to him.¨

¨Like what?¨

¨flattery......

advice.......

encouragement..............¨ he trailed on, his voice getting darker than normal. I looked away nervously, a bad feeling crawling up my spine. He looked my way; his eyes darkening into complete black. I caught a glimpse of his face and started to shake. The look he gave me was unnerving. I waited for what else was going to come out of his mouth. He looked away and twiddled his thumbs, the same expression glued on his skull.

¨.........predictions. weird, huh?¨ Sans questioned, an almost bitter tone in his words. I flinched a little; feeling the venom he was spitting out. The monsters, now, didn't notice Sans and continued their daily routine. But, me................ I felt like all eyes were on me! My heart started to beat faster and my eyes darted to the only exit and the floor. I never felt so nervous in my life! It was like being interrogated for a crime that you saw but can't tell.

Painful.

Stressful.............

Pressured....................

¨someone must be using an echo flower to play a trick on him. keep an eye out, ok?¨

¨O-Okay.¨ I stuttered out, wishing I could hide under the counter even if Grillby would probably burn me to a crisp.

¨heh, thanks.¨ Sans replied, the room getting back to its normal bright and active nature. The skeleton seems a lot more relaxed now like, literally, nothing happened! I was another story. I wiped the unnoticeable sweat off my forehead and watched him hop off his bar stool; stretching his bones which cracked.

¨welp, that was a long break. i can't believe i let ya pull me away from work for so long.¨ he teased, holding his skeletal hand out for me to take. I smiled and took it, hoping off the chair. I was about to leave when Sans pulled me back; accidentally pulling me up against him. I blushed nervously and pushed away, waiting for what he had to say. He didn't seemed fazed and went on talking.

¨oh, by the way................

i'm flat broke. can you foot the bill? it's just 10000G.¨

I narrowed my eyes at the skeleton and punched him in the arm. He flinched and rubbed where I hit him. It hurt me more than him but he deserved it. ¨Does that answer your question?¨ I retorted, rolling my eyes playfully. He laughed at me and nudged my shoulder.

¨just kidding.¨ Sans joked and looked to Grillby, ¨grillby, put it on my tab.¨ I shook my head, chuckling. 'Look at mister Money-bags over here.' I smiled to myself, following the skeleton out of the restaurant. He stopped suddenly at the entrance.

¨by the way............. i was going to say something but i forgot.¨ At that, he left. I was dumbfounded! Could it be that Sans might think I had something to do with the 'predictions'. No doubt, the 'echo flower' sounds like Flowey but.........

Why target Papyrus?

What does his trust with Flowey have to do with me?

Is there more to the skele-bros than what I think?

Is there a past between these three individuals?

I clutched my head, feeling the symptoms of a headache kicking in. I really need to calm down or I might give myself a heart attack. I sighed and walked out of Snowdin, the headache slowly dying down to where it is tolerable. I made to where I was before and walked by Sans. I felt his eyes on me, scanning my every movement. I was nervous and turned around to him, who gave me a smile and his traditional wink.

¨let's hang out again sometime.¨ he suggested, going back to watching me when I walked away. Was he.......stalking me? I mean, that would explain his strange behavior before. But, that just doesn't sound like him. Right? I shrugged my shoulders and continued walking, As I was walking through the water, I spotted something strange behind the waterfall. I touched it lightly and felt a door knob; and, like the curious girl I am, I open it.

Inside the room was an old pink tutu. I tilted my head and frowned. How could a human item be here, of all places?! I grabbed the tutu and took it into my backpack; continuing across the water. I walked into a dark place, long grass grouped up in front of me. It was as tall as me; maybe even taller. I thought there would be no harm in going through the grass. What I didn't know was that I would overhear something I would never forget. NEVER.

I heard the rustling of grass above me and saw Papyrus approaching a tough monster with armor. It didn't expose their identity yet I feel something bad about this monster.

¨H........HI, UNDYNE! I'M HERE WITH MY DAILY REPORT............

UHHH.......... REGARDING THAT HUMAN I CALLED YOU ABOUT EARLIER............¨

The monster looked towards him, a low raspy muffle came out. The courageous skeleton, for the first time, looked afraid. I've heard about this Undyne from that kid I met in Snowdin but I haven't actually seen her.

¨.......HUH? DID I FIGHT THEM?¨ he looked away, arms crossed nervously. ¨Y-YES! OF COURSE I DID! I FOUGHT THEM VALIANTLY!.......... DID I CAPTURE THEM? W-W-WELL.............. NO. I TRIED VERY HARD, UNDYNE, BUT IN THE END............. I FAILED.¨ I heard an aggravated yell and an angry mumble. Man, I can't hear because of it's helmet or what. How can anyone here Undyne over that helmet?!

¨W-WHAT?............ YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE THE HUMAN'S SOUL YOURSELF.............. BUT UNDYNE, YOU DON'T H-HAVE TO DESTROY THEM! YOU SEE.............¨ I saw the anger around Undyne and watched Papyrus back up a little. I was happy that he would stand up for me but............something is off. He looked away, out across the horizon. He sighed and lowered his head down in defeat.

¨........I UNDERSTAND. I'LL HELP YOU IN ANY WAY I CAN.¨ He left and the one called Undyne was left up the cliff. I was shocked. My friend......he......he......betrayed me..........

A single tear fell down my cheeks and I shook my head in disbelief. No......NO! This isn't happening! Not again!!!......Not again!!!.............I sobbed silently, my hands covering my mouth. 'Not again. Not another traitor.' I sniffed quietly and was about to tip-toe away from the scene when I stepped on a branch. Undyne snapped their head in my direction and walked towards the edge of the cliff. I froze not saying a word. The leader looked around and summoned a spear, watching for any movement. My breathing was ceased, afraid that one breath would give away my location. Knowing that nothing was not there, the spear disappeared and Undyne disappeared into the shadows.

At last, I could breath again and I walked out of the tall grass. Then, the same kid from Snowdin came out with me. They were shaking in excitement. I looked at them, startled by their sudden appearance.

¨Yo........ did you see the way she was staring at you.........?¨ I gulped and nodded. He seemed satisfied with my reply and replied excitedly. ¨That...........was AWESOME! I'm SOOOO jealous! What'd you do to get her attention.........?¨ he laughed. I shook me head and rubbed my temple.

¨Trust me, man. I have NO idea.¨ I said, clearly exhausted by the eventful day.

¨C'mon! Let's go watch her beat up some bad guys!¨ he hollered, running off but fell on his face. Knowing the kid had no arms, I helped him up and, with a quick thanks, ran off. I stood there, still thinking over what happened. Papyrus...................

¨Of all people...............why you, Papyrus?¨ I asked myself.

What I failed to realize is that the crack in my soul only grew.

Making my death more emanate than I know.
