Mini-Chapter: Most Terrifying Chat
Ever since I found Lily, I've been following her and catching up on her journey. It was pretty interesting, I must say. Her strategies show a large amount of cleverness and ingenuity. It may be better than any other timeline I've seen! However, she makes some mistakes; time and time again. Her problem is self-doubt. Lily doubts herself all the time, even if she doesn't admit it. And it shows through her mistakes.
Ink has been observing her the longest, without my knowledge. He says, although she may be the key to end the resets, there is a small possibility that she will really make it. With her insecurities and Dust influencing this Sans, the chances of Lily surviving are slim.
¨But what if she does break the barrier?¨ Ink sighs and gives me a small, hopeful smile. His eyes showing the opposite, though.
¨You get to go home......¨ My eyes pop out of their sockets and my mouth opens in shock. But, Ink looks away and clenches his fist. I was excited but, seeing how Ink is reacting, I can see what this means. I lay my elbows on the granite that keeps me from falling a hundred miles to my death. I was back in his house and we were discussing plans.
¨I.......I don't know if I can do this.¨ I sighed out. ¨I mean, there was nothing really I could go back to. Just the same provincial life.¨ Living like every other young adult. Working, paying mortgage, worrying about boys. It's just so complicated. And that's coming from the girl that lives with a skeleton and always hopping into portals, not knowing what lays behind the swirling contraption.
¨Wouldn't you like to see your family? They must really miss you. After all, you did say it has been 11 years.¨ I look towards the horizon; my eyes glazed with moisture. It hasn't been too great here since I left my family. I can't visit them since there was no way to get out without corrupting the AUs. But, Ink made it to where I could see how my family was doing. It was pretty bad back home. My siblings were missing and my father............he's gone. I feel a boney finger wipe a sneaking tear from my cheek. I flinch and look towards Ink, who was giving me a comforting smile. I stare into his eyes and my own start to let out the tears I've been holding back.
I tackled him into a hug and started to cry. My fists bunching up his brown scarf and body shaking in sorrow. He wrapped an arm around my back and the other holding my head closer to his chest.
¨Shhhh. It's okay.¨ I let out sad hiccups as I spoke up.
¨I......I-I d-didn't w-w-want t....to l-leave them......b-behind.......!¨
¨I know, I know. But,¨ he replied, holding up my chin to look into his eyes. ¨if this human is as good as they seem, they will break the barrier and let you go home. Make up lost time, so to speak.¨ I start to sniffle and pulled my face deeper into his chest. The sweet smell of vanilla engulfing my nostrils. ¨I....I don't want to leave you all alone.¨ I whisper softly and look up at him. He pushed away a piece of brown hair from my face, smiling.
¨Who says I'm alone? I've got Paps with me! So there would be no use of worrying about my 'lack' of company.¨
¨Yeah, I guess you're right.¨
¨Of course, I am. But, I think it is you who is afraid to leave.¨ he jokes, poking my side. I growl playfully and squirm away. I start to laugh and he does too. That was a few hours ago. Currently, I am in Hotland, searching for the human. And, if possible, Sans. I walk towards MTT Resort to see if I could find Lily. It was a little less crowded than normal but it was still hard to find people. They didn't seem to mind me as I pushed my way through the suffocating crowd of monsters and was about to go to the exit when a hand grabs my wrist, tightly. I was spun around and, face-to-face, with Sans. He had the usual lazy grin but something about it makes me.....uncomfortable.
¨hey. i heard you're going to the core.¨ I try to pull away from his grasp but it was pain-stakingly tight and got tighter when I tried to escape. His eyes were boring holes into mine and he looked extremely tense. ¨I.....I don't know what you're talking about or who you are. So, can you please-¨
¨i'm sans, sans the skeleton. and you know EXACTLY what i'm talking about.¨ he growls at me, low enough for only the two of us to hear. I gulped and felt myself get nervous. ¨i know you must be busy but how about grabbing some dinner with me first?¨
¨As much as I would enjoy having some dinner, I really shouldn't-¨ Suddenly, I was tugged to the direction of the restaurant to the left. ¨great, thanks for treating me.¨ I started to shake as he forced me onto a chair and he sat on the other side. I was about to get up when his eye started turning blue. ¨i wouldn't if i were you.¨ In fear, I sat back down and stared at him. His eye was......different. It wasn't the usual blue, instead, it had a hint of red on the outside. I watched as his eye changed back to its normal white color. ¨well, here we are. so, how have you been?¨
¨Fine. You?¨
¨oh me? normal except for..........well, you know that already, don't you?¨ I tore my gaze away from his and started to play with my jacket string. He leaned back into the chair, nonchalantly. ¨you must really wanna go home. i know you're other little human friend does, too. hey. i know the feeling, buddo. but, is this REALLY the only way for you?¨
¨Sans..............Lily hasn't done anything wrong. She-¨
¨yeah, she did nothing wrong but KILL papyrus!¨ he snapped, angrily. His eyes briefly turned red but quickly calmed down into its normal color. He cleared his throat and tapped his bony fingers on the table. Each finger going up and down, slowly. It was terrifying. I watched, anticipating what was going to happen next. His smile, that I was used to, now looked creepy and murderous. Then, I was able to find my voice.
¨Where's Dust?¨
¨who?¨ I adjust myself and lean closer.
¨Where is the other Sans? I know he's influencing you and it HAS to stop.¨ He stayed silent. His expression darkened at my response. It was like someone flipped a switch on his personality. His smile came back but it was not Sans. He looked at me, his eyes glazed with murderous craze. It was like he was a whole different person! ¨S.....Sans....?¨
¨you know? let me tell you something. i promised someone, very close, that whatever human comes through the door, i would protect them. i hate making promises and this woman, i don't even know her name. but...........someone who sincerely likes bad jokes......has an integrity you can't say 'no' to.¨ He looks to the side and frowns, like he is contemplating his whole plan. But it doesn't erase the fact that he wants to kill Lily! Sans has lost his mind and maybe this is the changes that Ink said there would be with a new human falling down. I, slowly, reach my hand to his and grabbed it slightly. He didn't even look at me.
¨Sans.........This isn't you. The REAL you. A part of you should know how wrong this is and I can help you.¨
Silence.
It felt uncomfortably silent like two people meeting for the first time. Well, technically, it is but still. He scoffed and rolled his eyes, getting up from his seat. His hands shoved into the pockets of his blue jacket. He smirks at me, out of nowhere.
¨be glad i'm feeling nice today. if i wasn't............¨ He got a little too close for comfort and I had to lean back a little to avoid too much contact. His grin grew and hands pinned my arms on the table; my body still in a sitting position. His mouth close to my ear and, out of the corner of my eye, I can see his eyes turn completely black. What caught my attention was not the small spark of red and purple in his left eye. Neither was it the painful grip on my hands that could probably choke me. It was what he said and how he said it.
¨You'd be dead where you stand.¨ he snarled in my ear. His voice was dangerously threatening and sounds like it could kill. It scared me so much that I almost teared up. I could feel my eyes glaze with tears and my breathing shallow. This can't be Sans unless...............
He pulls away and adjusts himself in a casual stand. Acting like nothing happened. My fingers were still clinging to the armrests and my breathing irregular. He watched me with satisfaction like he proved something right. His smile twisted back into the lazy smile that I knew well.
¨heh. well, that's all. take care of yourself, kid. 'cause i'm sure you don't want to suffer the same thing your little friend is going to have.¨ He starts to walk off towards the exit but spins around to face me one more time. The last thing he said sent a chill down my spine. Even if I heard it several times from watching the other resets, having him say it to me is a lot scarier than watching it outside the AU.
¨You wouldn't want a Bad Time, would you?¨
