sans' POV:

the dust leads to hotland. i'm surprised the brat made it this far. yet, i'm not. based on how many piles of dust is around, it was pretty easy to see there was no struggle. i continue walking as my slippers hit the scorching sand mixed with ash. alphys' lab came to view and i, nonchalantly, walk in. if anyone knew more about the human, it was her. i should know, we used to be friends in the other timelines.

sure, we knew each other before the seventh soul but we'd rarely talk. ever since gaster went through the void, alphys has been locking herself up in the lab for months. probably grieving, i don't know. i knock on the door.

¨knock, knock.¨

after a minute of waiting, the door opens to reveal the royal scientist, herself. she looked a mess and seemed a little worked up. but, hey, i was too.

¨O-Oh! H-h-hi, S-Sans!¨ the scientist stuttered, pulling the sleeves of her lab coat down.

¨heh. you're supposed to say 'who's there'.¨ i joked. i tried to act normal just to calm her nerves. she sighed and rubbed her forehead, breaking out in a sweat.

¨S-Sorry, S-Sans. I-I just have a-alot on my m-mind lately.¨ she said and moved away from the door to let me in. i shrugged and walked inside.

¨nah, it's cool. i was only joking. so, what gotcha so worked up?¨ i asked, aimlessly flipping through the stacks of papers. when i didn't get a response, i look at alphys. she seemed very uncomfortable like she was hiding something. i decided to play it cool and flip through more pages.

¨I-It's n-nothing. J-Just w-w-work.¨ she squeaked, catching my attention.

it was a little strange to hear how shy she was around me. i raise an eyebrow at the scientist, stuffing my hands in the pockets of my jacket. she looked away, not wanting to make eye contact with me. then, she spoke up.

¨S-so, are y-you hear about t-the puzzle I-I made for P-P-Papyrus? I'm s-sorry it didn't w-work.¨ she apologized, running towards the papers i was looking through and gathering them into her shaking claws. then, something catches my eye. on top of the stack, there is a file that had gaster's font in the front. within a minute, i pull it off the pile and open it.

¨H-Hey! I n-need that!¨ alphys protested as she tried to grab the file. however, i was way too quick and started reading through it. it was weird because it was about fractured souls; a condition only monsters have. however, one of the pages has a few notes about whether a human can develop the same thing. the weird thing is that section wasn't written in wing-dings. it was written in alphys' hand-writing.

¨hey, alphys. why so interested in fractured souls all of a sudden? thought you were working on less........confidential things.¨ i ask, internally gritting my teeth. if i'm correct and she's helping the human in some way, that brat could be unstoppable. her eyes widened and shook her head, violently.

¨O-Oh, just f-found the f-file and d-decided to t-take a closer.......l-look at it.¨ she stuttered, twiddling her thumbs. i hummed in response.

¨ok. but, according to this paper.........¨ i said, holding up the sheet. ¨it's in YOUR hand-writing and is discussing the topic of a human soul. if i'm understanding this correctly.................¨ i walked towards her, my eyes darkening and teeth grinding. alphys shook and watched me with frightful eyes. ¨you're helping the brat, aren't you?¨ i asked, my voice dangerously low.

i could tell i was getting somewhere. her breathing, irregular; more than normally. her small, hunched form shaking. i curled my hands into fists. why does ANYONE not understand?

she SAW what happened to papyrus.

she KNEW that the brat killed him.

YET.

SHE. CHOSE. TO. HELP. THEM.

¨S-Sans............She's not-¨

¨she's not what? a murderer? i beg to differ.¨ i retorted. alphys looked taken back.

¨Sans, Lily would never kill anybody. I know because I have been watching her! She wouldn't-¨

¨but, she did! how can YOU, out of all people, be so blind!¨ i yelled, unable to control myself. how could she choose the human despite the clear evidence?! there are NO other humans and a monster would never kill another! her eyes teared up and she sniffled.

¨S-Sans.......y-you're scaring m-me....P-P-Please let m-me-¨

¨i don't need to be 'enlightened' by your fictitious fantasies and beliefs. at least now i know that she can be weakened. you'll see! That brat is a dirty brother killer.¨ i growled, stomping out of the building. i could hear alphys scream my name but i just kept going. i know what i need to do. and i won't feel any guilt doing it.

heh. well, now that's said and done. why not get a little grub? i start walking towards snowdin, when i feel a strange pain in my chest. i groan and gripped it, leaning myself up against a nearby tree for support. i pull up my jacket and shirt to see what's happening. on my soul, a weird red substance attaches is spreading, slowly, on the blue heart. it felt unbearable and i flopped down onto the snow-covered floor. i closed my eyes and groaned in pain.

¨w-what's h-happening....t-to...m-m-me?¨ suddenly, i hear the crunching of footsteps and a loud voice woke me up from my shock.

¨Hey! You okay?!¨

ugh, undyne. i looked up at the worried fish and nodded, grimacing.

¨y-yea, i'm f-fine. may h-have overworked m-myself at h-hotland.¨ i joked, light-heartedly.

¨Uh. Yea. But, you don't usually go to Hotland. And you look hurt. Is everything okay?¨ she asked. Then, her worried look turned into a suspicious one. ¨Wait. Is this about the human?! What did you do, Sans?!!¨ i growled, unable to keep the charade up any longer.

¨the human, the human, THE HUMAN! is that all you care about?! does papyrus not ring a bell?!¨

¨Hey! Of course I care about Papyrus! And I understand that you're upset, but the human didn't do it! So, I'm going to ask this one last time and I better get an answer.¨ she grips my shoulders and pushes me up against the tree, a glare penetrating through my soul. ¨WHERE. IS. THE. HUMAN?¨

oh, how undyne cares so much about that brat is ironic. especially since SHE was the one that wanted to kill humans the most. it's hilarious! i started to chuckle and that small chuckle turned into a laugh. my sanity is breaking, slowly.

¨What?! You think it's funny?!¨ she growled.

¨Hahahaha! Oh, it's HILARIOUS! Best joke I've heard in all the timelines!¨ i howled. she looked at me confused but snapped back together and pushed me harder against the tree.

¨What did you do, Sans?..........¨ undyne asked, fear in her voice. heh, she should be scared of me.

¨let's just say that she is going to be in quite a............................

STICKY situation!¨ i cackled.

as her face lost color and she darted to hotland, i laughed.

¨IT'S TOO LATE, UNDYNE!

SHE HAS BEEN JUDGED!!!!~¨

And, NOTHING is going to stand in my way between her life and her fate.
