Into The Void!

¨T...........T-The Void..............?¨ I repeated, watching as the distorted man, that was once Gaster, drag me into a random direction. He looked like he knew where he was going even if this place was all black and empty. Each step he took was more graceful than the last. Like he was.....floating. Despite his disturbing features, I can see elegance in his movements. Moving like the rivers in Waterfall. Like gracious strokes made by an artist. All I could do is stare at this man, who once intimidated me but now filled me with awe.

He glances over his shoulder, catching my observing. He chuckled.

¨I know I am quite the sight but there is no need to stare.¨ he said, almost playfully. My eyes widened in realization and darted away, blushing like a school girl.

¨S-Sorry.¨

¨No-no. You can keep staring, I don't mind the compliments.¨ he laughed. I frowned in confusion. How does he know-

¨The eyes are the windows to the soul. Plus, you've been mumbling.¨

Gosh, darn it. Now that I think about it, this monster doesn't seem to want to harm me. The opposite actually. We continued walking, his hand still gripping my wrists firmly. Then, I hear the sounds of children laughing. I look around, nervous about the sudden sounds. They got louder like they were nearby. I scooted closer to Gaster, holding onto the back of his black cloak.

¨There's no need to worry. We're the only ones in this limbo. What you are hearing is past timelines. Memories of what I have seen.¨

Then, more sounds echoed through the dark pit. The sweet, innocent laughs of children changing into those with darker intentions. The laughs insane and menacing, and barely masking the sounds of weeping and crying. I can hear the voice of a female, crying for help. Then, gradually, the sounds of despair turn into music like what you would hear in a club. Males shouting and women laughing. The music that was playing sounds like dubstep.

¨So, I'm sure you're not going to tell me what the crying was all about?¨

¨If you haven't figured it out yet, I had an.........'accident'. My own creation pulled me into the Void and I was shattered throughout time and space. At first, it was thrilling. As a scientist, the mere thought of being everywhere at once was enticing. But, as years go by, I couldn't find any pleasure in watching the suffering of others.¨

¨Watching my sons get older.

Not being to anything.

All I can do is watch.

When they both died?

Watched.

When they came up to the Surface?

Watched.

When they were stuck in the Underground, with no hope of seeing the stars?............¨

He paused and let out a sigh. His distress caused our halt in place. I didn't understand what he meant but I felt bad for him. Despite what he did to Sans and Papyrus, Gaster still loved them. They are his children. The only thing that kept him going and probably the same for them. But...............

¨Heh. They don't even know I exist.¨ he laughed, a frown plastered on his face. Looking at this broken man, I feel something that no one else has given me in a long time: Sympathy. I understood how it felt to have no one there for you. To have no hope. But, then I met Naomi. And these wonderful monsters, and...................

I grab his hand and squeeze it. I could feel him stiffen as I looked up at him. He started to tear up and cover his other hand, ashamed about me seeing him in such a weak state.

¨You know. It may sound cheesy and clicheé, but........I know how you feel. Sure, I may not have had kids or been shattered across space and time. However, feeling hopeless; I know a thing or two about that.¨ I comforted, blocking out everything except for the sound of our voices. He didn't seem to get better so I gestured to where it started getting slightly brighter.

¨So, is that our destination?¨ He wiped the, surprisingly, black tears from his eyes and moved his hand back to my wrist in a death grip. I didn't care though, as long as we get out of this dark part of the Void. However, what I see, stuns me.

Instead of lights, I am surrounded by bright white pixels illuminating the area. I look towards Gaster and took in his form. He, indeed, was floating an inch off the ground and I could, barely, see his feet. His skull is turned from a white to a light gray and the cracks on his head were more defined with a source of light. They were jagged instead of a smooth stroke of a scar. He let go of my hand and went up to a desk, where papers beneath papers were placed. He raised his hand and a purple aura surrounded a binder and floated towards the doctor, its pages flipping through quickly.

I sneak towards the preoccupied skeleton and looked at the papers on the desk. Sadly, I couldn't make out what it said since it was in that strange font again. Then, a question came to mind.

¨What language is this?¨ I ask, holding up a piece of notebook paper.

¨That is not a language. It is a font. Wing-Dings to be precise. A mixture of bold symbols and out-of-place hand signs.¨ he responded, scanning through the pages while speaking. I hummed and picked through some more notes. I find similar sketches that I saw in Alphys' lab and pull out the piece of paper from my bag. I put the paper down next to the other one and observed them. Seeing them in front of me, I could see that they didn't look the same. Almost like they were about the same topic but different pages.

¨Aw! Here it is!¨ Gaster says, pushing away the other papers including the page from Alphys' lab. Luckily, I was able to snatch it before it could be disappeared with the countless other notes. He pulled up his sleeves; his pale bones appearing from the depths of his soft black cloak. And, somehow, I could faintly see the neck of his ivory turtleneck.

¨Now, let us start...........¨
