Howdy!
It was dark but somehow I was awake. Probably sleep paralysis, but that doesn't explain why it was completely dark. That was until I realized that I fell face first into the ground. If I could, I would face palm myself for my idiocy. Instead, I sighed and pulled myself off the ground to take a look at my surroundings. As I looked around, I could only see the ground which was covered in beautiful golden flowers. They reminded me of the flowers I saw in the photograph of the goat child and human child.
'Hmm. This must be where all the other humans fell.' I thought to myself, as I carefully picked a flower and placed it in my hair.
I shield my eyes from the sunlight beaming from the the hole above me. It really helped a lot since now I could see beautifully crafted white pillars surrounding the circle of golden flowers. I brushed the leaves and dirt off my clothes; making sure that I look presentable if I meet a monster. Hopefully they won't kill me. Well, I will have to keep moving if I am to find anybody down here. I grabbed my bag, checked to see if everything was intact, and headed to a tunnel that I spotted right away. As I walked past the flower bed and towering pillars, everything started to grow quiet except for my shoes clicking on the stone floor.
As I got closer to the tunnels entrance, my heart started thumping from how nervous I was. My footsteps seemed to get louder than before and my breathing heavier than it should be. My pace slowing to a cautious tip-toe as I neared as I caught sight a ominous doorway. I raised my head to the door's frame where the monster's symbol appeared, graciously. I looked through my bag and grabbed a robe with the same symbol on it. I held the robe up so that it looks like it was next to its identical. To be honest, I was pretty excited to actually be down here. I was about to start dancing when I remembered my mission. I shook my head in frustration, furiously. 'Ugh! What am I doing?! Quit procrastinating!' I criticized myself. I stuffed the robe back into my bag and walked super fast under the doorway. Everything seemed a little dark except for a single beam of light shining down on patch of grass. On the grass is another golden flower with............ a face on it?!
¨What?¨ I whispered to myself; creeped out by a flower smiling at me. I, cautiously, got closer to the flower. ¨H-Hi?¨ I greet the flower, acting a little shy around the living plant. His smile was bright and friendly, almost like he practiced smiling at himself in the mirror everyday. It was weird but made me a tad bit better until he spoke.
¨Howdy! I'm Flowey. Flowey the Flower!¨ the flower chirped happily. I grew nervous once again. His voice sounded very creepy. 'It may be my paranoia that's making me judge so harshly on this harmless flower. But he might have some information I need. Might as well have a conversation with him.¨ I shrugged to myself.
¨Hi, I'm Lily.¨ I replied, a small smile forming on my face.
He hummed at my reply before saying something else.
¨You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha?¨ Flowey questioned, still smiling up at me. I nodded.
¨Golly, you must be so confused.¨ he said, almost worried but still smiling at me. I am starting get a little skeptical on Flowey's intentions. I mean, he obviously knows that I am a human and that I am most likely confused. What is he playing at? But I couldn't help but smile at the flower's Southern slang. It was just too adorable!
¨Someone ought to teach you how things work around here!¨ Flowey responded, almost like he had a sudden idea. 'Yep, he is going to trick me. Might as well play along.' I sighed, mentally.
¨I guess little old me will have to do¨ he sighed.
¨Ready?¨ Flowey asked, eagerly waiting for my response.
I thought for a little about whether I should have him 'help' me or just leave him. I needed to know what to do down here, even if there is a possibility of me dying. It's worth the shot! I nodded hesitantly, not wanting to leave him waiting.
¨Here we go!¨ he exclaimed, happily.
At that moment, a heart appeared out of nowhere in between me and Flowey. My eyes widened at the sight of this heart. Then, I looked right in front of me to see a little yellow bar that was labeled 'HP'. I guessed it was how much health I had since the bar is '20/20'. I looked to the left of me and stared at the box labeled 'LV 1'. Something about it just gave me a chill up my spine. So, to escape that feeling, I focused my attention on the 'friendly' flower.
¨See that heart? That is your SOUL, the very culmination of your being!¨ Flowey said, happily. ¨Your SOUL starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV.¨
I looked at the heart in front of me. 'Wait! That's my soul?!' I yelled mentally. I saw arrow keys around my soul and started to move it around. It felt weird to see my soul move so gracefully and quickly. 'Wow, I have one quick heart!' I joked to myself.
¨What's LV stand for?¨ he proceeded to explain, ¨Why, LOVE, of course!¨
Alright, I know for a matter of fact that LV is not going to mean 'Love'! It must mean something bad due to the flower's eagerness to teach me.
He smiled even brighter and continued to talk. ¨You want some LOVE, don't you?¨
I wanted to shake my head furiously and run away, that is how creepy it sounded! Why would I want 'Love' from him?! He is probably playing some sick joke because I am 'supposedly' a dumb human. I am going to prove him wrong!
¨Don't worry, I'll share some with you!¨ Flowey offered, winking happily like he is some kind of anime.
Suddenly, little white objects that looked like bullets appeared above Flowey. The way it towered over him made him look ominous. How they hovered over his body made me feel small, no matter if he was only a few inches tall. I hunched my shoulders at how threatening it looks.
¨Down here, LOVE is shared through....Little white.....'friendliness pellets'.¨ he continued to explain. But, it was the way that he looked to the left that got me worried. From what I see on the Surface, some people always look to the left or right when they are lying. It's simple psychology, really. Then, something hit me. The more I looked at Flowey, the more nervous he looked and the more I can see through him. He was obviously planning to kill me. I wouldn't judge him; after all, humans did trap monsters in this dark abyss.
Thinking about it makes me feel sad about their lives down here. Who knows how many monster children have believed that someday, monsters will peacefully return to the Surface. This takes me back to the promise I made to Naomi. That last time I would speak to my deceased friend. ¨Do you swear to me you'll never hurt a monster? No matter how mean and scary they are?¨ her words echoed through my mind. I fought back the tears as I thought of that promise. 'Don't worry, Naomi. I didn't forget our promise.' I told her mentally. I stopped thinking and watched Flowey continue his explanation.
¨Are you ready?¨ he asked, his eagerness increasing by the second. I nodded, without a moment to think. 'I know what I need to do.'
Then, the bullets when towards me at very low speeds. ¨Move around! Get as many as you can!¨ Flowey cheered.
Without a moment to lose, I quickly dodged 4 of the bullets; but, sadly, the 5th bullet caught me in surprise. Surprisingly, the bullet left me with only one HP! ¨Hey! How did that work?! It was just a single bullet!¨ I yelled at Flowey. Suddenly, his face turned sinister as his grin widened to a frightening smile. His eyes darkened into insane pools of white.
¨You idiot.¨ he insulted, his voice shrill yet intimidating.
¨In this world, it's kill or BE killed.¨ Flowey smirked. ¨Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this?!¨
I was beginning to wonder if playing along was really a good idea. My thoughts were supported as white bullets surrounded my now weak soul. Flowey's evil grin faded into a ferocious smile.
¨DIE.¨ he said, as the bullets started to surround me in a tight squeeze. I tried to find a way out; frantically moving around for an escape. There was no escape. Flowey cackled as the circle grew smaller. I was about to give up when my HP was maxed out all of a sudden and the bullets disappeared. Flowey stopped laughing and looked at my heart annoyed.
Then, out of nowhere, a fire ball came and knocked Flowey out of the ground. He let out a shriek as the fire ball plucked him out of the ground where he laid.
¨Are you alright, my child?!¨ I heard a woman ask, before blacking out from exhaustion.
