I stood there, distraught by how Papyrus changed so quickly. He was my friend! At least, I thought he was. I felt like I've been betrayed and loneliness clouded by aura, once again. I needed a friend. I yearned for a friend. But, nobody liked me at the Surface. The only friend I had died years ago and I was left with nothing but my mind to keep me company. I would imagine all the monsters Naomi met. Toriel. King Asgore............... the king's son. There were others but I have no memory of their names. I would pretend they were with me and Naomi; eating pie and tending to the failure-of-a-garden in the backyard.

I didn't notice tears falling down my cheeks and my soul started to vibrate slowly; as if it's in pain. Papyrus flinched slightly but regained his intimidating, bold posture. I, reluctantly, hit the CHECK icon. His attack is 20 and his defense is 20; the sight of such high performance scaring me. He laughed and sent slow-moving bones towards me. With my soul, I jumped up; away from the bones and almost doing a front-flip in the air due to the lack of gravity. After regaining my stance, I decided, because of his personality, to flirt with Papyrus. He seemed taken back by my approach and stuttered as he talked.

¨WHAT!? FL-FLIRTING!?¨ then, as quickly as possible, went back to his normal upbeat tone. ¨SO YOU FINALLY REVEAL YOUR ULTIMATE FEELINGS! W-WELL! I AM A SKELETON WITH VERY HIGH STANDARDS!!!¨ I giggled at Papyrus' meltdown and looked at the options before me; choosing the best approach.

¨I can make spaghetti.¨ I stated, a small smile plastered on my once sad face. That got him into a frenzy!

¨OH NO!!! YOU'RE MEETING ALL MY STANDARDS!!! I GUESS THIS MEANS I HAVE TO GO ON A DATE WITH YOU.........?¨ But, he shook his skull and looked straight at me. ¨LET'S DATE L-LATER! AFTER I CAPTURE YOU!¨ I sighed in defeat and prepared to get attacked by more bones. I dodged them with ease like before. This went on for some time.

Me, flirting with Papyrus and, he, using his bone attacks against me. During the fight, he turned my heart blue; although the small crack from earlier still shows. I was nervous that he would see it, but he didn't seem to notice and continues to attack me. Anyways, now I have to really dodge his attacks with gravity pulling on my being. The attacks became harder and harder. So, I got hurt each time the level of attacks increase.

I was at 9 HP so I dug through my bag for the Bisicle and ate it. Papyrus looked at me, a frown on his face.

¨WILL ANYONE LIKE ME AS SINCERELY AS YOU?¨ he asked, launching another bone attack. It was a lot slower so I was able to dodge them; keeping my HP maxed out. I tried to spare him but Papyrus didn't seem to back down.

¨SOMEONE LIKE YOU IS REALLY RARE.............¨ he complimented, throwing more bones at me, which I easily dodged. I spared him again.

¨AND DATING MIGHT BE KIND OF HARD................¨

¨Papyrus, you don't need to do this. Being popular is not going to give you the best friends. Only those who have always been there for you will continue to be your friends. No matter what.¨ I assured him while dodging more of his attacks. He started to rattle his bones and looked down, sadly.

¨AFTER YOU'RE CAPTURED AND SENT AWAY.................URGH......WHO CARES! GIVE UP!¨ Papyrus yelled, attacking me again.

¨Look, it doesn't have to be this way-¨ I was about to continue after dodging his attacks until he interrupted me.

¨GIVE UP OR FACE MY......SPECIAL ATTACK!!!¨ Once again, I escaped the projectiles and try to spare him.

¨YEAH!!! VERY SOON I WILL USE MY SPECIAL ATTACK!¨ More bone attacks. More dodges from those attacks. More sparing. Papyrus warned me one final time that he will use his special attack; encouraging me to stand down. But, these monsters need to go up to the Surface. Without shedding more blood like they did to the previous children. I spared him and craned my neck up to his face; a determined look on my face. He sighed and held his gloved hand out.

¨BEHOLD.......! MY SPECIAL ATTACK!¨ I looked to where the bone is, but it is not what I expected. Right in front of me, a little white dog was chewing on a bone; enjoying the grinding of bone against its teeth. He widened his eyes and looked angrily at the dog.

¨WHAT THE.....! THAT'S MY SPECIAL ATTACK! HEY, YOU STUPID DOG!¨ Papyrus yelled, attracting a fearful stare from the puppy. ¨DO YOU HEAR ME!? STOP MUNCHING ON THAT BONE!!!¨ The dog smiled, mischievously, and walked away with the 'special attack' in his mouth.

¨HEY!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!! COME BACK HERE WITH MY SPECIAL ATTACK!!!¨ After yelling at the dog, he stood there in nerving silence for a little while. He shrugged his shoulders.

¨OH WELL. I'LL JUST USE A REALLY COOL REGULAR ATTACK.¨ I spared him but he sighed getting himself ready. ¨HERE'S AN ABSOLUTELY NORMAL ATTACK.¨ Even though he said it was normal, I prepared myself for the worst case scenario. The bone attacks got faster and more unpredictable; hitting me a couple of times. Then, the dog came back with the bone in its mouth and tried to attack me. Luckily, I stepped away from the small pup's way and focused more on the other attacks. I had to jump over a bunch of bones that spelled 'Cool Dude' and a bone with sunglasses riding on a skateboard. I was panting from the 'normal' attack from Papyrus. How is THIS normal?!

Then, a sea of bones just came at me and I jumped; going higher and higher until I hit the biggest bone that was at the end. I fell on the cold, snow floor and groaned in pain. I couldn't believe I ignored such excruciating pain before. It could've been because of my focus being directly on the next move. Suddenly, a slow-moving bone came at me and I jumped with ease over it. Papyrus was huffing and was bending over to catch his breath.

¨WELL........! IT'S CLEAR....... YOU CAN'T............ DEFEAT ME!!! YEAH!!! I CAN SEE YOU SHAKING IN YOUR BOOTS.¨

¨Nah, that's the amount of pain from your 'normal' attack.¨ I huffed out, wiping a dribble of blood from my mouth. My breathing was heavy. Large amounts of blood stained my shirt and continued to drip down my legs. My face probably pale because of the amount of blood I am losing. My legs felt like jello as I continued to stand.

¨THEREFORE I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, ELECT TO GRANT YOU PITY!!! I WILL SPARE YOU, HUMAN!!! NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO ACCEPT MY MERCY.¨ Without hesitation, I spared him and, strangely, the fog started to clear up. I stared at my soul coming to me and it is back to its original color. The crack, though, as much as I want it to disappear; it was still there. He cried loudly and turned his back against me.

¨I CAN'T EVEN STOP SOMEONE AS WEAK AS YOU......... UNDYNE'S GOING TO BE DISAPPOINTED IN ME. I'LL NEVER JOIN THE ROYAL GUARD......... AND...... MY FRIEND QUANTITY WILL REMAIN STAGNANT!¨ He continued to mop to himself and I stood there, feeling extremely bad for winning. 'Ugh, what a loser!' I frowned at Chara's comment and walked towards him, hugging him from behind. He stiffened at the hug; he's probably not used to being hugged by a human.

¨Let's be friends!¨

¨REALLY!?¨ I nodded, smiling and letting go of him; Papyrus turns around excitedly to face me. ¨YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS, WITH ME??? WELL THEN............ I GUESS........ I GUESS I CAN MAKE AN ALLOWANCE FOR YOU!¨ I rolled my eyes playfully at how self-confident he is. ¨WOWIE! WE HAVEN'T EVEN HAS OUR FIRST DATE.........AND I'VE ALREADY MANAGED TO HIT THE FRIEND ZONE!!!¨ I burst out laughing at what he said. You would think he would know being 'friend zoned' is bad. But, whatever floats his boat.

¨WHO KNEW ALL I NEEDED TO MAKE PALS........... WAS TO GIVE PEOPLE AWFUL PUZZLES AND THEN FIGHT THEM?? YOU TAUGHT ME A LOT, HUMAN. I HEREBY GRANT YOU PERMISSION TO PASS THROUGH! AND I'LL GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS TO THE SURFACE.¨ At that, I squealed happily and pulled him into another hug. He laughed, whole-heartedly, and hugged back. I let go and Papyrus told me to go forward until I reach the end of the Caverns. Then, he said when I reached the Capital to cross the barrier. 'Okay, so far so good.' He continued to explain that the barrier is the magical seal trapping monsters underground. I already knew that because of all Naomi's stories.

¨ANYTHING CAN ENTER THROUGH IT, BUT NOTHING CAN EXIT........... EXCEPT SOMEONE WITH A POWERFUL SOUL. .......... LIKE YOU!!! THAT'S WHY THE KING WANTS TO ACQUIRE A HUMAN. HE WANTS TO OPEN THE BARRIER WITH SOUL POWER. THEN US MONSTERS CAN RETURN TO THE SURFACE!¨ I smiled and thanked him for telling me more. I was going to walk away when Papyrus spoke again.

¨OH, I ALMOST FORGOT TO TELL YOU........... TO REACH THE EXIT, YOU WILL HAVE TO PASS.......... THROUGH THE KING'S CASTLE. THE KING OF ALL MONSTERS........ HE IS............. WELL........¨ I grew nervous when he hesitated. ¨HE'S A BIG FUZZY PUSHOVER!!! EVERYONE LOVES THE GUY! I AM CERTAIN IF YOU JUST SAY, 'EXCUSE ME, MR. DREEMURR........ CAN I PLEASE GO HOME?' HE'LL GUIDE YOU RIGHT TO THE BARRIER HIMSELF! ANYWAY!!! THAT'S ENOUGH TALKING!!! I'LL BE AT HOME BEING A COOL FRIEND!!! FEEL FREE TO COME BY AND HAVE THAT DATE!¨ He laughed his signature laugh and started to run away, going over trees along the way.

I raised an eyebrow and laughed at how goofy Papyrus is. But, I stopped when I thought about how easy he made it sound. To release all of the monsters. I'm sure if I let King Asgore use some of my soul power to break the Barrier, I won't have to fight him. 'Right, Chara?' No response. I frowned and continued walking along the winter wonderland around me. Where does Chara go?
