Fishy Situation.

As the air grew dense, I could feel some sense of guilt crawling up my spine. I don't know why but...............I just do. The way Undyne holds herself. The feeling of sorrow and anger filling the air. It was just........too much to bear. I know she thinks I stand between the monsters and the Surface but I'm not. I just know it. Craning my neck up the where she stands, I see her turn her head slight towards me. Danger looming in her bright eyes. Then she spoke, her voice hoarse and raw.

¨Seven. Seven human souls, and King Asgore will become god. Six. That's how many we have collected thus far.

Understand?¨she asked as she turned to face me.

I gulped and nodded, not wanting to upset her any further.

¨Through your seventh and final soul, this world will be transformed. First, as is customary for those who make it this far......... I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people. It all started, long ago.............. ¨

I waited for her to continue but she never did and this worried me. She looked down and turned away from me for a brief moment before taking off her helmet. Staring at the back of her head, I can identify Undyne as a fish-monster. Her scales a dark blue. Her long hair, put up in a high pony-tail, was a dark maroon. Her eyes a bright yellow with pupils almost snake-like. And her teeth, yellow like her eyes. She was frowning and looked down at me.

¨Look. Papyrus didn't come to his meeting today. Say what you want about him. He's weird, he's naive, he's self-absorbed..........But Papyrus has NEVER missed a meeting. And no matter what time you call him on the phone...............Night, day, afternoon, morning..........He ALWAYS answers within the first two rings...... But now he's gone. And his brother isn't around, either. ¨

My eyes widened when she said that. 'Papyrus can't be gone! He can't be! I didn't kill him or did anything to hurt him! Does she mean he's...............' I watched her as Undyne stared at me, angrily. Saying the one thing that tipped me over.

¨.....What did you do to him? What did you DO TO HIM? Papyrus, who I have trained everyday...............Even though I KNOW he's too goofy to ever hurt anyone.............¨ She, then, sighs and looks away. Almost defeated.

¨Go ahead. Prepare however you want. But when you step forward.............¨

She grinned with a vengeful smile. Her eyes showing no mercy on behalf of my soul. I gulped and watched in horror as she spoke, in a dreadfully slow pace.

¨I will KILL you.¨

My knees were shaking and would give out if it wasn't for my determination. This is probably what Flowey meant about meeting a relentless killer. I might die, for real! If not, I would die from the hands of Asgore. That is, if what Papyrus said was true and that he would show me mercy. But............he's dead. Papyrus is dead. I don't know how and why but he is. So, that would just make it look easy for the King to kill me.

I sighed.

'I can't give up now.

I have gone so far and I can't stop.

I.

NEED.

TO.

GET.

THROUGH.'

Taking a breath, I stepped towards her. Undyne's grin growing wider.

¨That's it then........! No more running away!¨

She jumped down and readied her spear to me.

¨HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!¨

I was able to dodge it but I was, immediately thrown into a fight. Her hair flew with the howling wind and her spear ready in one hand. She swiped her spear over me and my soul changed from its normal red to bright green. I freaked out, not understanding what green meant. She cackled and held her spear towards me.

¨En gardé!¨

I quickly checked her and saw what I was REALLY getting myself into. Her ATK is 50 while her defense is 20, which nearly made me doubt myself. She laughed and readied her spear.

¨As long as you're green YOU CAN'T ESCAPE! Unless you learn to face danger head-on........You won't last a SECOND against ME!¨ She conjured an army of spears and threw them at high speeds. I gasped in fear and moved myself away from them, barely. Undyne glared at me, impatiently, as I stood up from a previous dodge-roll I did.

¨Undyne, I don't want to fight you! I can help you get the other monsters out!!¨ I cried out, hoping she would reconsider what she was about to do. She seemed to ignore my pleas as she spoke.

¨When I said face towards danger.........I meant face towards the bullets! ¨ She threw more spears, each one aiming for me. I threw myself to the left and dodged all but one. The spear that hit me making me yelp in pain. I looked up at my HP bar and watch it decrease to 17. I hissed as I touched the cut and my blood bubbled from the nick. My crimson liquid soaking the side of my shirt. 'Great, I'm gonna need some more clothes after this.' I growled to myself as I stumbled to my feet.

This continued for some time. Me, pleading for my life like a hurt puppy. And, Undyne, showing no empathy and attacking me. I tried challenging, which just made the spear a lot faster. Not good for my personal well-being but I continued to challenge her to see if that will lead to anything.

Eventually, she yelled out and said it was time to stop warming up; attacking me without holding back. I dodged them and suddenly, my heart turned red and I dodged one last spear. I remember her saying that as long as I am GREEN, I can't escape. Testing my theory, despite risking my life, I ran around her and towards the entrance. I ran off at full speed.

I could hear the pounding of Undyne's metal feet as she drew near. Although pumping my legs harder, I was caught and put back into the fight, my soul green again. Knowing my theory worked, I continued to dodge her attacks and, if my heart is red, ran. I was apprehended a second time near a sign that said ¨Welcome To Hotland¨. I practiced the same routine and ran. Zooming past a sentry station, I ran across the bridge with Undyne hot on my tail!

I ran off the bridge and looked back when I heard desperate, heavy breathing drawing near. Undyne, slowly, made her way to me. Sweat pouring down her face as she took slow steps.

¨Armor......so.....hot.......But I can't......Give up.........¨ Taking one final step, she collapsed to the ground and laid there. I was a little concerned that I might be killing her so I spotted a nearby water source, a water cooler. I grabbed one of the plastic cups, filled it to the brim with water, and carefully walked towards her. Without hesitation, I poured the water into her mouth and stepped back; ready to run if necessary. She quickly got to her feet after a few seconds and stared down at me in disbelief. I don't understand why she was so shocked but I guess Undyne didn't expect me to do that.

After a few moments of staring, she walked out of Hotland and disappeared back to Waterfall. I felt stress start to lift off my shoulder and I started to walk forward. There was something fishy going on here. Pun not intended. If I didn't kill Papyrus, who did? Flowey would be an obvious answer but it doesn't make sense. Why would he kill Papyrus? What does he gain from doing such a deed?

¨There had to be a logical explanation for this.¨ I mumbled to myself.

I drank some of the Sea Tea and went on my way in Hotland. Suddenly, I encountered two knights standing in front of an entry way. Feeling that it might lead somewhere important, I approached them.

¨Hey, can I please get through?¨

¨Sorry.....Undyne, like, told us there was totally a human in the area. So, like, us Royal Guards are blocking off the elevators for now. Ngah! Even if the elevators aren't working anyway, we'll do our best, Ms. Undyne!¨

I sighed and walked off forward. Strangely, there was a strange building that says 'Lab' on it. Curiosity filling inside me, I walked towards the door, which opened willingly. As I entered, the room was dark and strangely quiet. The only sounds being my breathing and my footsteps. Walking cautiously, I continued forward and spot a screen with pictures of............me? It was weird but oddly......flattering? I shake my head and continue walking, leaving the creepy technological shrine behind.

As I continued, I see a desk with stacks upon stacks of papers and empty bowls of instant noodles. Next to it, lied a fridge and a gigantic bag of cat food. I cringed at the thought, making me think this person is a cat-person. Not that I hate cats, they're chill and a little amusing. I just don't like the thought of someone being surrounded with nothing but cats! I shuddered and continued onward until I hear the sound of beeping; which I stopped to listen to. Hearing a sliding door, I flinched and looked to see where the source of the sound came from. Focusing my ears on further sounds, I could hear the soft pitter-patter of feet and I see a small figure walk in front of me.

Lights, suddenly, turning on, I look to see a dinosaur in a lab coat staring at me. She, I am guessing, wore glasses and her scaly yellow body shook nervously.

¨Oh. My God. I didn't expect you to show up so soon!¨ she stuttered, pacing like crazy. I raised an eyebrow, unsure about my decision to come in here.

¨I haven't showered, I'm barely dressed, it's all messy, and...........¨ She stopped and looked towards me, her breathing a little rapid. I gave a small smile and waved.

¨Ummmm...........H-h-hiya! I'm Dr. Alphys. I'm Asgore's royal scientist!¨

Immediately, my eyes went wide and I could feel the dark force behind me, whispering in my ear.

¨Alphys...........Fractured.....Soul.......Help.....¨
