¨Hello, friend?¨ i smiled when I heard the old lady's voice.

¨hey, lady. how's it goin'?¨ i asked, leaning my back up against the door. i've always come here to talk to the old lady, even if that means dealing with pap. i just had to talk to her today. i need to tell her something.

¨Everything is fine, friend. But, I should ask the same for you. I am worried about your health.¨ i sighed at her comment, looking up at the ceiling of snowdin. there were rocks on top that looked like stars so that monsters could at least feel a little bit at home. you know, those who remember what it's like to be on the surface. i feel jealous about those lucky monsters. i don't even remember anything about life before the war, that includes during as well. but, i think about what she said and looked down to the snow covered ground. i have been a little under the weather lately, but it's not because of health reasons.

¨nah, i'm fine. just..............had a rough day at work, that's all.¨ i could tell from the silence that she doesn't believe me, but who could blame her. i wasn't really hidin' it. she sighed.

¨Sans............I know it is none of my business, but............I want to understand what's going on.¨ i felt my soul clench at her words and grabbed a fistful of my jacket, gritting my teeth in pain. i looked under my shirt and watched as the crack in my soul deepen. i took a deep breath and hit the ground in frustration. before i knew it, i was throwing random hits at the powdery ground as snow flied away from the impact.

¨Sans?........Sans?!¨ i continued to throw more punches and tears came down, which is when i stopped and tried to contain my sobs.

¨i........i-i have no h-hope..........i-i.........¨ i stopped speaking, knowing full well that the old lady won't understand what i was about to say. how could she? somehow, nobody knows about the other resets other than me. nobody has felt the pain of seeing the people you love die. die from the hands of a child, over, and over, and over again. having to fight the same kid, reset after reset..............and even if the same kid changed, they would just reset again to find more outcomes to this journey. angry tears fell down to the fluffy snow. being able to go back to the Surface, but the kid throwing that all away for their personal game!

¨Sans?........Are you alright?¨ i sighed and got up, wiping the tears away and leaning back onto the door to the Ruins.

¨yea, i'm.....fine.¨ i reassured her, ¨lady?¨

¨Yes?¨

¨what makes this human different than the others? how do you know everything's going to be ok?¨

¨I trust her, Sans. Lily is sweet and kind, despite what has happened to her. Unlike the others, I could feel her soul is of pure intentions.¨

¨b-but.............everybody would. i'm just.........tired.¨ i took a deep breath before continuing, ¨i am tired of giving my hopes up just to find out that we'll never make it back. what if the kid dies? your ex will take their soul and open the barrier, destroying humanity in the process.¨

there was a moment of silence before she spoke again.

¨This child will change Asgore's mind. She has something that the other humans don't have much of. I KNOW she will free us.................... She reminds me of an old friend that I used to talk to up on the Surface.¨ i perked up and looked back at the door.

¨who?¨

¨Her name was Adela. When we met, she was merely a queen-to-become of humanity. Somehow, she stumbled upon the Underground and I found her. After that, we became very close friends, almost inseparable! But.............when the war was proclaimed through the Underground and the Surface, she refused to go to war with us. This was because of her kind soul and perseverance to stand her ground. Sadly, though, Queen Adela was executed by means of a noose and word, somehow, spread to the Underground. Despite her efforts to stop the war, it still went on and humans were victorious.¨

my eye sockets are probably the size of dinner plates after hearing this. 'a human queen......cares about us?' i didn't know how this could happen and how this relates to the girl, but it makes sense in a weird way. i remember my dad talking about a human queen that came down to the Underground and became friends with her as well. but, who cares what he knows. his knowledge was the the main reason my life is a disaster! but, if what he said IS true............if what the old lady says is true................... i sighed as i took out the packet of ketchup Lily threw at me.
