Best Friends!!!!

¨Undyne!!! I'll help you fight!!!¨ I heard a child's voice exclaim.

In front of me, the monster child stood between me and Undyne. He looked between me and her, realization hitting him.

¨YO!!!!!! You did it!!! Undyne is RIGHT in front of you!!!¨ Or so I thought. I face palmed and I am sure Undyne probably did, mentally.

¨You've got front row seats to her fight!!! ¨ he yelled, looking between us happily. I raised an eyebrow at the kid, unsure if he is joking or he really was clueless. Then, his face fell and he started to frown, a little confusion mixed with his expression. He looked towards me.

¨........wait. Who's she fighting???¨

Suddenly, Undyne grabs him by the side of his face and pulled him away. The aura around her burning with anger as she dragged him along. His feet dragging along the floor and frequent 'ow's coming out of the child.

¨H-hey! You aren't gonna tell my parents about this, are you?¨ he asked, nervously before he and the lady disappeared from view. I stood there, listening to the ever-fading footsteps of the monster woman. After a few seconds of careful listening, I let myself breathe huge amounts of air. I didn't even realize that I was literally holding my breath! I sighed and brushed myself off, still shaken up by the encounter with Undyne.

'What did she mean by a chance at redemption? I've done nothing wrong to deserve being killed.' I started to walk in the direction they went while I thought back to what she said. The outside noises blocked out by my thoughts. My legs walking blindly as I meditated on the eventful moment. Well.........sort of blindly.

But, everything Undyne said.

Asgore becoming a god.

Giving the same pain to humans after breaking the barrier.

It just seems......................

Useless.

What would monsters gain if they make the same mistakes humans did? Revenge? It wouldn't satisfy them. Respect? Not a chance. The mourning of their deceased kind? Makes sense but how many humans died during the war? There was just no accurate explanation for what would cause monsters to develop this hatred for humankind. Although, a lot of them seem pretty nice to me. Like Papyrus. He could have easily delivered me to the Capital, but he didn't! There was no hatred in his heart for humanity. Then, again.....................

Papyrus doesn't know a lot about humans and Sans did say he's never seen one before. Speaking of the pun-loving bro. He could have sent me to the King as well. However.............he would probably be BONE-tired by the time we get there. I started to giggle at my pun; happiness filling my soul temporarily. Sadly, though, it didn't last long. I frowned at the thought of Sans. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and sighed, my eyes glossy.

I do miss him.

And Papyrus, too.

I felt like I belonged when I was with them.

I started to tear up, a small lump coming in my throat. I leaned my back up against the mossy, damp wall. Little sparks of cyan floating around, making the atmosphere depressing. The environment being orchestrated by crickets and trickling water; creating a sorrowful tune. By the time I hear the music, tears were pouring down my face and I was on the floor; cradling my body. I sobbed and didn't care because no one was around to comfort me.

I was alone.

I have never felt so lonely. It was new to me. When I was an orphan, I had Naomi to comfort me. Telling me it was going to be okay. After she died, I only had temporary loneliness until Ethan came along and helped me live my life. When leaving the Surface, I met so many friends. Toriel. Sans. Papyrus. Napstablook. But.....now.

Before I could cry some more, I see a familiar shining orange light come to view. It was the orange flame from before! I sniffled and sat up, wiping my tears with my hand. It nudged me gently. Like it was trying to comfort me. It continued to nudge me until I started to smile and laugh; my past worries drifting away. The orb shone brightly in glee and darted around me. Well, at least I have this weird orb with me. I stretched my hand out and petted it, warmth making contact with my cold hands.

¨Thank you. I really needed that.¨

It rubbed against my hand and lightly pushed my hand into a direction. I picked myself up and, without hesitation, ran after the bright flaming sphere. We ran across a river with Echo Flowers and golden dust sprinkling through the air. I came across another sign; only reading it quickly because of the impatient orb:

However......There is a prophecy. The Angel........The One Who Has Seen The Surface...........They will return. And the underground will go empty.

That was the same thing that old turtle told me. It could be me.....On the other hand.......maybe not. The orb disappeared and left me in front of another bridge. I gulped and, taking one final breath, walked across the creaky wooden planks. Stalagmites and stalactites decorated the dark cave around me. A distant ravine gushing out gallons and gallons of crystal water. And, a dark abyss going down. As I was about to get off, I hear a distant yet identifiable shout.

¨Yo!¨

I turned around and came face to face with the excitable child that saved my bacon. I smiled and waved.

¨Hey! Thanks for saving me back there!¨ I shouted happily, my voice echoing through the cave walls. He walked towards me until we are only a foot apart. He looked at me, nervously. I frowned and waited as he responded.

¨Yo. I wanna ask you something. ........ Man, I never had to ask anyone this before.......... Umm.........Yo.......You're human, right?¨ he asked, concern in his brownish-yellow eyes. I bit my lip and nodded, looking down at the boy. He let out a nervous laugh.

¨Man! I knew it! .......well, I know it now, I mean.............¨ he sighed, ¨Undyne told me, um, 'stay away from that human'. So, like, ummm............I guess that makes us enemies or something. But, I kind of stink at that.¨ He let out another nervous laugh. Then, something flickered in his eyes like he had an idea.

¨Yo, say something mean so I can hate you? Please?¨ he asked.

I looked at him, uncertainly, and shook my head. I couldn't say something mean to that little spike ball! I wouldn't live with myself if I did that! He looked up at me, shock clearly showing.

¨Yo, what? So I have to do it?¨ He exhaled, sharply. ¨Here goes nothing............Yo, I.....I hate your guts............Man, I'm such a turd. I'm......I'm gonna go home now.¨ I nodded sadly and watched him run off. Suddenly, he slipped and was hanging off the rock ledge.

¨KID!!!¨ I screamed, about to run towards him. However, Undyne came in and looked beyond angry. Her clanking armor reflecting the sparkling starry ceiling above us. I froze and stared nervously at the child and her. Not sure what to do. Suddenly, like I was looking for a death wish, I ran to him and grabbed his torso before he could fall to his doom. He sighed in relief and I was able to put him down; brushing off the dirt from his sweater.

¨Y-You o-okay?¨ I asked, a scared look in my face. He nodded and I let out a breath of relief. Then, on que, the clanking of Undyne's footsteps grew slightly nearer but stopped when he stood in front of me. Protecting like a monster shield.

¨Y-Yo.....dude.......If......If y-you wanna hurt my friend.............You're gonna have to go through me, first. ¨ the child announced, courageously.

I looked at him, my mouth agape and eyes bulging out. Undyne looked stunned and slowly, backed away; running off. I heard him gasp in shock and he turned towards me, a look of disbelief on his face.

¨She's gone...........Yo, you really saved my skin. Guess being enemies was just a nice thought.¨ he laughed. If he had arms, he would be scratching the back of his head. He looked extremely flustered and I wouldn't blame him. He did just stand up to one of the most powerful monsters in the Underground. I patted him on the head and smiled at him.

¨You did great, dude. I'm proud.¨ I replied. He looked up at me and gave me a giant grin, a genuine laugh coming out of his mouth. Then, he sighed and smiled.

¨We'll just have to be friends instead.¨

¨You know what. Let's be best friends.¨ I suggested, extending my hand out for a handshake.

¨R-Really?!?¨ he asked, loudly. His eyes full of hope and mouth agape. I grinned and nodded. He stretched his tail towards me and I shook it instead. ¨We'll be the BEST of friends!!!¨

I giggled at his excitement and he looked back, sighing unhappily.

¨man, I should REALLY go home..............I bet my parents are worried sick about me! Later, dude!¨ he shouted and skipped away. I stifled a laugh, finding it adorable. I continued walking across the bridge and made it to a giant doorway. Then, looking up where the tops are pointed, I see a dark figure looking away from me. I knew who it is and she looks furious!
