#20 : Cheated
"Stop, Em."
Harry withdrew himself from the girl who was currently sitting on his lap. Emily, who initially seemed to be absorbed in enjoying every corner of Harry's face, stopped her activities and placed on a big smile on her face. Emily placed her arm around Harry's neck.
"What's wrong, Harry?" Emily asked, softly. Harry took a deep breath and slowly sighed.
"This. . . this is wrong. What you and I have been doing lately is really wrong." Harry shook his head. His eyes seemed to radiate fear. Emily moved her hand, cupping Harry's face.
Emily kissed Harry's lips briefly before saying, "Harry, you haven't refused at all since we first started doing this. What's wrong? Don't you and I both need it?"
Harry shook his head again. "Em, listen. You and the whole world know that I already have a wife. This is totally wrong." Harry had actually given gestures and signals for Emily to get off from his lap, but Emily shook her head and instead kept her arm around Harry's neck.
"This is not wrong, Harry. Listen to me. If she. . . your wife never barged and came into your life, you'll definitely end up with me. We'll be together. We love each other. We can live happily together, rememberer when we dreamt of this when we were little?"
Harry closed his eyes briefly. "Em, listen to me. We love each other. Yes, that's true. But that was the past, and now–" Before Harry could continue his words, Emily had already crashed her lips against Harry's lips. Harry just kept silent and didn't budge, but over time, he was consumed and clouded by Emily's game, which made him kiss her back hungrily.
Harry rose to his feet with Emily's legs wrapped around his waist and Emily's arms curled around his neck. They pulled away from their kiss for a few moments before returning back to kiss each other's lips again.
Harry had just placed Emily on the sofa and landed his lips on Emily's lips, they were about to continue their ever so passionate make out session when the door to their office room suddenly opened, making Harry and Emily pull away from each other, although it was very obvious that anyone could guess what they were doing.
"Gr-Grandma. . . Taylor. . ."
Harry was at a loss for words when he saw Grandma glaring at him intently and Taylor just lowered her head, hiding the look on her face that was certainly very disappointed.
Harry left Emily on the couch and quickly walked over towards them.
"I. . . I–" Harry was just about to reach for Taylor's hand, but Grandma's hand quickly dispelled and swatted Harry's hand away from her before he could touch Taylor.
With a hardened and clenched jaw, Grandma said sharply, "Don't you ever touch my granddaughter, you motherfucking cheater."
Hearing his own Grandmother's words, Harry froze from his spot. He had never seen Grandma so angry before.
Grandma placed her arm around Taylor, and pulled her fragile body closer to her, allowing Taylor to bury her face in her grandmother's shoulder before taking Taylor away from Harry's office room.
Leaving Harry who's completely frozen there.
━━
Arriving at their home, Taylor locked herself up in a room. Taylor locked herself in her room as she sat on the floor with tears continuously flowing and escaping from her eyes. Grandma had repeatedly knocked on the door of the room, asking Taylor to come out and not lock herself up, she was trying to comfort Taylor, whom she had already considered her own granddaughter.
Grandma strongly condemned on what was Harry's doing. What the hell? After only a few minutes the employees there talked about Harry, and Grandma tried desperately to make Taylor not believe what the employees gossiped about Harry, but the rumors turned out to be true instead.
The employee's words were true. Harry was having an affair with Emily, his childhood best friend and also his personal assistant at the moment.
"Taylor, I don't think it's worth trying to persuade you right now. If you need anything, come to my room. I'll do anything for you. You're the best I've ever gotten. " Grandma said softly as she turned around in front of Taylor and Harry's door.
Just when Grandma turned around, Grandma already saw Harry who looked very chaotic and disheveled. Grandma returned a sharp look to Harry. Harry paused for a moment before suddenly he rushed towards Grandma, Harry knelt to the ground and hugged his grandmother's knees.
"Grandma. . .please, I'm sorry. I-I know what I did was wrong. Please, I'm so sorry." Harry begged. Tears were flowing from his eyes.
Grandma gritted her teeth together before walking backwards, trying to push Harry away from her. Harry was quite surprised at his grandmother's attitude, who had always spoiled Harry with so much love and affection.
"Grandma. . ."
"That's enough, Harry. That's enough!" Grandma closed her eyes, and took a deep breath and slowed her breath down. Grandma shook her head.
"I thought you were supposed to be the grandchild I could always be proud of. Among Gemma, you and Adam, you were the only one who'd always make me proud of whatever you do. But today, I saw it with my own two eyes, and I've realized that you aren't supposed to be proud of, instead you're the kind of person who everyone should be ashamed of."
"Grandma. . ." Harry walked closer but, Grandma deftly said, "Don't come close to me. I don't want to be near you."
"Grandma. . . I–"
"Taylor is a good girl, Harry. She's the kindest girl you've ever introduced me to." Grandma's eyes glittered. Harry pulled at his own hair and nodded.
"Yes, I know that! Please give me time to explain everything! To you and to Taylor!" Harry shouted in frustration.
Grandma shook her head. "No, not now. Give me time. Taylor needs time, too. Plus, we don't need your explanation anyways, what we saw was enough." Grandma turned and walked away.
Harry walked listlessly towards the door of their bedroom. Harry knocked softly on the bedroom door.
"Taylor, please let me in and explain everything." Harry asked, with a very resigned and chaotic face.
Harry knocked on the door. "Taylor. . ."
After several minutes, there was no reply from Taylor. Harry finally gave up. With a face that looked very frustrated, Harry walked down the stairs, and he walked towards the pool, and sat on the edge, trying to calm himself down who was also devastated by his own actions.
━━
"I don't know, Harry." Anne said resignedly, as she heard the long explanation coming out from Harry's own mouth. Harry looked expectantly at his mother.
"Please, Mum. Help me explain everything. Help me so that Taylor and Grandma will forgive me."
Anne shook her head. "I don't know, Harry. I don't know. I mean, you're acting and being too much already. This is the dumbest and stupidest thing you've ever done." Anne sighed, looking very distraught hearing Harry's story. Harry took his mother's hand and held it tightly.
"Mum, please, I'll do anything. Help me talk to Taylor. Help me talk to Grandma. I'm sure I can fix this."
"I don't know what was going on your mind when you decided it was a good idea to have an affair. I'm stressed, Harry. Gemma doesn't get better and now, you're also making me more stressed and depressed than I already am. Why don't you two just kill me?" Hearing his mother's words, Harry bowed his head.
"I'm sorry, Mum." Harry is very sorry at this time. Anne rose from her chair.
"All right. I'll try and talk to Mom and Taylor. But I can't guarantee anything." A faint smile appeared on Harry's lips as Harry got to his feet, and faced Anne.
"If I were Taylor, maybe I wouldn't forgive you. So just pray that Taylor isn't like me," Anne turned and walked away from Harry, who went back to sit on his chair. His face looks very tired and his eyes are swollen. As sappy and weird this might sound, but Harry really couldn't stop crying earlier.
━━
Anne stopped her steps right in front of the door to her daughter-in-law's room, Taylor. Anne paused for a moment before deciding to knock on the door of the room while calling her name.
"Taylor, open the door, sweetheart. There's something I want to talk to you about." Anne pleaded, constantly knocking on the door of the room.
But there was no reply at all from the other room. Anne did not give up. She kept on knocking on the door while calling the name her name repeatedly.
"Taylor, please, open the door. I want to talk to you. This is important."
After constantly knocking on the door and calling Taylor for a few minutes, the door finally opened. Anne held her breath at the sight of her daughter-in-law's appearance. Her hair is disheveled, her face was pale and her eyes were red and puffy. Taylor looks even worse than Harry.
"What's wrong, Mom?" Taylor asked, her voice being very lethargic. Her lips drew a very thin curved line.
Anne was sad to see it. She had never seen Taylor this much. The Taylor that she knew was the Taylor who was always very cheerful and always had a smile on her lips and always radiates her positivity to anyone. She wasn't used to see Taylor like this.
Without being permitted, Anne walked inside the room. And her eyes widened when she saw the suitcase on the bed, with a pile of clothes stacked on in it.
"What are you doing?" Anne asked, squinting at Taylor. Taylor smiled thinly again.
"I tidied my things." Taylor answered, her voice trembling slightly.
Anne shook her head. "No, you don't need to tidy up your things in a suitcase. Put your clothes back in the closet, Taylor. This room, closet, and everything here is yours." Anne said firmly. Taylor shook her head.
"Thank you in advance, Mom, but I can't. I've already booked a flight to Nashville for tomorrow morning." Anne closed her eyes.
"Are you crazy? You're going to Nashville? Jeez, Taylor! Don't make a sudden move and decision! You can't just leave! I know Harry made a big mistake! I know he hurt you! But you can't just leave before you resolve your problem with him!"
"This is how I solve problems. I've made a deal with Harry before." Taylor's voice sounded very lethargic. She walked to the closet and grabbed a few more of her clothes and put them in her an open suitcase. Anne just stared at her.
"What stupid deal did you two made?!"
"From the beginning when Harry and I were together, we made a deal. We had a deal that whatever mistakes we made, we'll try to forgive each other. But we never said betrayal counts in that matter."
