#16 : Hospital

Taylor walked quickly with Grandma as they passed by the several hospital visitors, until finally they could see Harry and Anne sitting on the chairs in front of the emergency room. Taylor slowed down when they got there.

Harry sat with his eyes fixed on the floor. His gaze was empty and blank. He wore a white shirt and the white shirt he was wearing was soaked and splattered with Gemma's blood. Harry looked very chaotic, and so was Anne.

Slowly but surely, Taylor approached Harry. Taylor sat beside Harry, taking Harry's hand which was on placed his thigh. Taylor holds Harry's hand tightly, making Harry turn to look at her.

"Gemma will definitely be fine. She's a very strong girl. God is going to protect her." Taylor said, smiling faintly. Harry smiled faintly and grasped Taylor's hand tightly.

Harry pulled Taylor closer to him, and he leaned his chin on her shoulder as he said, "I'm afraid, Tay. I'm afraid something might happen to her. Gemma is the only sister I have, and I can't bare to lose her."

"Harry, nothing bad will happen to her. Believe me. Gemma is strong. All we have to do now is pray for the best for her." Taylor's words silenced Harry for a moment.

"I'm her younger brother, Tay. In the past, I promised Dad that whatever will happen, my job was besides continuing Dad's company was to look after Mum and Gemma. And now, I've failed. I couldn't keep Gemma safe and I made Mum sad. " Taylor could hear Harry's voice breaking at the end. Harry must've keep refraining himself from crying.

"Are you going to cry? If Gemma finds out, she'll laugh at you." Taylor chuckled, trying to break the icy and heavy atmosphere between them. Harry let go of his arms and chuckled as he rubbed his teary eyes.

"I'm not crying! How could I even cry?" Harry said as Taylor chuckled. Harry smiles. Only Taylor can calm his heart at hard times like this. Harry is very lucky to have Taylor.

"Harry, Taylor,"

Harry and Taylor turned to hear Grandma calling out their names. Grandma smiled faintly.

"Go home and get some rest. You two have just arrived in Cheshire recently and you haven't had enough rest."

Harry shook his head. "I'm fine, Grandma. I'll wait until Gemma wakes up." Harry insisted. Grandma narrowed her eyes.

"No, you must go home and rest. Come back tonight. Let me and Anne stay here instead while we also wait for Adam to come." Harry's eyes widened when he heard Adam's name that was mentioned by his grandmother.

"Adam? Seriously?! How could I leave you with that young man!" Harry's tone rose, Taylor grabbed Harry's arm, stroking it slowly while saying, "Calm down, Harry."

Grandma closed her eyes briefly before staring hard at Harry. "Harry, listen. I believe in Adam. I raised him to this day. So you don't no need to worry. Just because of your dispute with Adam doesn't mean you've involved the whole family in this matter."

"But, Grandma–"

"No buts, Harry. Now, go home and rest. Aren't you sorry for your wife? She must be very tired and she'd want to rest after a long and tiring day." Grandma stared at Taylor softly, Taylor lowered her head.

Harry sighed and nodded resignedly. Harry got to his feet and took Taylor's hand, who also stood up. "All right. We'll get going. Don't forget to call me when the doctor finishes examining Gemma." Harry said. Grandma nodded her head.

Meanwhile, Anne still looked devastated and chose to remain in the arms of her mother-in-law. Harry took Taylor's hand and led them away from the room.

When the two arrived in front of the elevator, they met someone who Harry really didn't want to see right now.

Adam.

Adam smiled at Taylor as he said, "Hey, Taylor. Nice to see you again." Adam greeted as he seemed to ignore Harry's presence.

Taylor glanced at Harry hesitantly before replying to Adam, "Um, nice to meet you too, Adam. Grandma and Anne are waiting in the emergency room. Just take a left turn and you'll see them." Taylor immediately pointed out the directions, so that Adam wouldn't ask other questions so that they could leave sooner.

"All right. Thank you and well, you look paler than usual, Taylor. I hope you're doing well." Adam waved before walking away from Harry and Taylor, heading to the emergency room. The elevator doors opened again as Harry and Taylor entered. Harry, who had been silent the whole time when Adam was talking with Taylor, finally spoke up in the elevator.

"I don't like him."

"If you like him, then you aren't normal." Taylor chuckled, trying to lift the tension between her and Harry because of Adam earlier. Harry turned to Taylor, staring closely at his wife. Harry took a deep breath and slowly sighed.

"But, he's right. You're pale. How could I not realize that?" Harry's hand covers Taylor's face, watching her in more detail.

"Did you have lunch?" Harry asked, worry covering on his face.

"Aren't we going to have lunch together?" Taylor asked back. Harry pulled Taylor's body towards him.

"Taylor, you can't go on like this. Don't wait for me just for lunch. You have your lunch first. Your health is the most important. Especially now, that you're carrying our child in your stomach." Harry's advised.

Taylor shook her head. "I wouldn't eat well without you, and I want you to have lunch with us, with me and your child."

Harry smiled, it was more like of a grin rather. Harry rested his forehead on Taylor's so that there foreheads were touching and Harry rubbed the tip of his nose against Taylor's nose as he said, "You always find a way to get what you want."

━━

Harry and Taylor rested for several hours at the Styles residence. After showering and changing clothes, they returned to the hospital. Anne called Harry when Gemma wakes up and she will let Harry know what happened to Gemma.

When they got there, Harry ignored Adam's presence. Harry, who had been holding Taylor's hand tightly, approached his mother, who was leaning back against the wall beside Gemma's door.

"How's Gemma, Mum?" Harry asked straightforwardly.

"She's inside. She was was hysterical, so the doctor came back and handled her." Anne replied resignedly.

Shortly thereafter, the doctor with two nurses came out of the room. Anne and Harry stepped closer.

The doctor smiled faintly, before saying, "Can one of the patient's relatives come into the room? We'll talk about the patient's condition." Anne looked at Harry and nodded her head firmly. Harry nodded. The doctor walked ahead, followed by the two nurses.

Harry let go of Taylor's hand and said, "I'll be right back." Before stepping and walking away to follow the doctor.

Anne immediately entered the room where Gemma was confined, while Taylor glanced at Adam and Grandma who sat side by side. Taylor sighed before stepping closer and sitting on an empty seat beside Grandma.

"Earlier, Gemma had regained consciousness and spoke normally. However, Anne said something that made her hysterical, so she needed the help of a doctor to handle it." Grandma said, explaining to Taylor. Taylor nodded slightly.

"I feel bad for Gemma. She doesn't deserve what's happening to her."

"I warned Gemma before, about Sam." After all this time, Adam finally spoke up. His eyes were looking straight ahead as  his arms were folded in front of his chest. Taylor glanced at the tall young man.

"I've also told Grandma many times about Sam, but Grandma doesn't want to listen. And now, this is the outcome. Just because you can't trust my parents, it doesn't mean that you can't trust me either." Adam said in a tone of resignation. Taylor lowered her head.

Adam is right too. During this time, the problem were his parents. But Adam seemed to be dragged along with his parents' filthy actions. In fact, in Taylor's opinion, Adam was a good young man, even though Taylor didn't know his past story.

"Forget about it, Adam. Regrets always comes in the end, right? Besides, in the past, your words weren't accompanied by clear evidence at all. Sam looks like a nice guy." Grandma defended herself. Adam sighed before rising to his feet.

"I'll buy some coffee. Do you want one, Tay?" Adam asked, staring at Taylor. Taylor nodded.

"I'd like a Frappuccino, please." Taylor said. Adam nodded his head.

"Do you want something, Grandma?" This time, Adam turned to look at his grandmother who quickly shook her head.

"My tea isn't even finished yet." Grandma said. Adam chuckled.

"All right. I'll be right back." Adam turned and walked away.

Taylor looked at Adam's back, which was getting further away as he kept on walking, as Adam was walking away, many questions formed inside Taylor's mind.
