Chapter 26

"Midoriya? Are you okay? Midoriya?" Izuku snapped out of his his train of thought at the sound of Todoroki's voice.

"Hmm? What? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking." Izuku waved his hand and flashed Todoroki a quick smile.

Todoroki's head cocked to the side curiously. "May I ask what it was?"

"What what is?" Izuku frowned.

"What you were thinking about. What were you thinking about, Midoriya?"

"Oh, umm..." Izuku racked his brain for something to say, "Can I call you Shoto?"

Midoriya mentally screeched at himself. Really? Why would you even ask that?! That's so personal!

Izuku was surprised when Todoroki simply answered by simply saying, "Why?"

"I- I- I mean, uh, well, since we've been through so much together and I am technically living with you we basically know each other pretty well so I figured why not?" Izuku was fidgeting now, not expecting to be having this conversation with the person who used to be one of his most aloof classmates. He didn't even mean to bring it up, it was just the first thing to pop into his head! Izuku was so busy mentally screaming at himself that he didn't notice Todoroki had stood from the couch and was now standing in front of the green haired teen.

"Okay, makes sense to me." Izuku froze at Todoroki's calm reply.

"Wait, really?" Izuku was shocked.

Todoroki nodded. "I mean, yeah. I don't really care what people call me, and you have a good reason so if you want to call me Shoto then go ahead."

"Oh," Izuku said faintly, "alright then." This was not how he was expecting this conversation to go.

"Does this mean that I should call you Izuku? Or would that make you uncomfortable?" Todoroki said.

"Yeah, sure, it's fine," Izuku squeaked.

"Okay, Izuku," said Todoroki.

Todoroki turned around once he said that, which was lucky for Izuku, because it meant the hero didn't see the shade of red dusting over the young villain's freckles

••••••••••••••••••••

Izuku and Shoto completed their day as they normally would. They sat in silence for a bit, Todoroki completing his homework and Midoriya cleaning whatever it is that needed cleaning. Then they proceeded to make dinner and eat, exchanging conversation about topics that warrented discussing as well topics that had no relevance whatsoever. It was quiet domestic, in all honesty. Once they had completed dinner the two teens sat in front of the television, watching news about what was going on in the hero world and briefly discussing it before heading to bed.

As soon as Izuku was settled into his futon, he began to allow his brain to process the events of the day. First of all, Izuku had to consider the old man he was assisting. Izuku hadn't given up hope that he could make the man open up. He was sure that if he was kind enough, and just slightly pushy enough, maybe he could make the man happier than he appeared to be.

The next thing Izuku had to consider was All Might. What a strange place to run into his childhood hero and old mentor at. There wasn't much to consider there, in all actuality. It was just such a shock to Midoriya, and he still wasn't sure how to handle it. Which reminded him: now Izuku had to figure out what to do with the All Might themed notebook that was still tucked away in the grocery bag at the door of the Todoroki home. Eh, he'd figure that out later.

There was one event of the day that was weighing more heavily on Izuku's mind than the others. And being as smart as you are, my Dear Reader, maybe you can figure out what it is.

Izuku was still shocked at the demon's suggestion of Izuku having feelings for a certain red and white haired hero. It wasn't that the idea shocked Izuku, if he was being honest, the villain had entertained the idea of maybe having feelings for the hero one or two times before, and he felt no shame over that. Even if it did make his face turn all different shades of red.

No, what surprised Izuku was that the demon had picked up on his emotions and that the demon sounded so sure about it. This made Izuku start to think two separate questions:

Did he actually have romantic feelings for Shoto Todoroki?

And also:

Would being in a relationship with the young hero be worth it?

Something Inko would always tell Midoriya flashed into his mind.

Now remember, Izuku, she would say, relationships are about more than just liking or loving someone. You must be able to trust this person entirely, and you must be able to work well with this person.

Izuku had always kept that piece of advice lodged into the back of his mind. It was part of the reason why he had never actually been romantically involves with people, he had high standards. Of course, he was also always busy with his hero studies.

It was just, there was something about Todoroki that just seemed to click with Izuku. They worked together like two peas in a pod. Another metaphor that could be used to describe their teamwork is peanut butter an jelly, if you prefer that.

Their ability to work together extended beyond the battlefield. Izuku began to realize this the more he spent time with Todoroki. The hero was just easy to work with, and Izuku would trust the teen with his life. Izuku already has put his life in Shoto's hands a number of times already.

Izuku figured that if they were to be in a relationship, they would work rather well together. It was easy for Izuku to be able to think of things in this analytical way, it was how his mind worked, after all. However, if Izuku were to have spoken any of this out loud, there would be a fair chance that he might have spontaneously combusted.

The next thing for Izuku to figure out was, did he truly have romantic feelings for the hero?

Todoroki certainly was a unique individual. He was kind and generous, he had offered to spar with Midoriya when that had time off, and he was always blunt in the way he gave his criticisms but he also didn't hold back on acknowledging when there was something Izuku excelled at. Todoroki was easy to get along with, and at times he could be known to crack a joke here or there. Of course, it didn't hurt that Todoroki was also an insanely attractive person.

In the end, Izuku was unable to come to a conclusion about his feelings for Todoroki and drifted into a peaceful dreamless slumber.

After all, you can't force these kinds of things. To do so would be both reckless and potentially damaging.

The next morning, Izuku and Todoroki awoke and continued with their respective morning rituals. Shoto got ready for school that day, considering it was a Wednesday and that's what students do, while Izuku slept in for another hour or two. It's hard to keep track of time when you are dozing.

Eventually, Izuku got up and took care of his personal hygiene. That was when something strange happened.

In one moment, Izuku went to tidy his futon. However, in the next moment, Izuku saw nothing but black.

••••••••••••••••••••

He came to only to find the bedroom looking like it had been hit with a tornado.

Also, I'll say thanks to ThisRandomDudette for inspiring me to write my chapters more often! If you're curious as to why you've been getting content faster, they are why.

Question of the Day:

Q: When was the last time you ate Ramen noodles?
