PoV: Sonic

Wham!

"Ahh!" I fell out of my seat as something attacked.

"Sonic the Hedgehog!" It was the teacher. She hit my desk with a ruler, "There is no sleeping in my classroom. You are to either pay attention or leave."

"S-sorry, I'll pay attention," I got up and sat down in my seat, I was up all night looking for work. Great... I need to sleep during lunch, but I can't not see Tails. I'm dying in so tired.

"Sonic you seriously need to learn o sleep," Shadow put a thermos on my desk, "drink that, it's coffee."

"Thanks," I took a sip, "Wow...," I pushed the cup away, "That's... that's bitter."

"I'm not a fan of sweeteners," he said.

I sighed and forced myself to wake up and focused in class. After this was math with Scourge, if I don't wake up by then I'm gonna wind up tied up somewhere aren't I...

"Sonic, let's go," Scourge grabbed me me.

"Hold on I'll meet you there," I stopped by the vending machine. There wasn't anything to help me stay awake aside from a pack of him.

I bought it and started chewing. It was keeping me awake for now. Scourge forced me into his lap again. Why don't they get that I hate being carried.

I ran over to Tails like I always did for lunch. I snuck into the building.

"Sonic you can't be here today," Tails said as soon as I got to him, "Get out of here."

"What why?" I was so confused.

"Some seniors found out you've been sneaking in. It's dangerous for you to stay here. You have to go," he pushed me towards the door I came from.

"When I find that stow away I'm gonna throw him out of here."

"Hey, we haven't found him yet. Remain in proper behavior."

"Is that them?" I asked.

"Go hide!" He pulled me back in and opened an cabnit door.

"Ow. Tails wait," I curled into a ball and he hid me under the sink.

"Enjoying your lunch hour freshmen?" I could hear them.

"Yes I am. Are you her to use the lab too?" That was Tails.

"No we're just looking for someone. Have you seen one of the less intellegant students around here?"

"No, sorry. I haven't see him anywhere," Tails didn't even sound nervous.

"Him? I never mentioned their gender," oh crap.

"Oh is it not a him? Then I haven't seen her anywhere," Tails was nervous now. Once the seniors caught onto something they never let it go.

"Check the room."

  I uncurled and looked for anyway to escape. -ping- That one sound... that was my death warrant. The keys to the apartment tapped the sink faucet.

"Check the sinks," I knew it was no use now.

"Wait wait!" I leapt out of my hiding spot just before one of them opened the door, "I didn't come here to cause trouble. I just wanted wanted to visit a friend of mine. I don't want to destroy the school."

"You can't be here. We have security for a reason," the otter cracked his knuckles, "since you turned yourself in we won't give you to the teachers. Instead. We'll do this."

  He gave my left cheek a hard punch, the other hit me in the stomach. They left after that.

"Sonic are you okay?!" Tails helped me up.

"... I'll... I'll be fine..." I stood up on my own.

"Maybe we should just hang out on weekends. It'll be worse if the teachers find out you're sneaking in."

"Tails don't worry, I'll be way more careful from now on," I answered.

"No," he backed away from me, "We can't be friends without you getting hurt anymore. We can see each other in secret, but I think you should leave."

"Tails-"

"Go!"

"...okay... I'll... I'll see you around buddy," I hugged him and left.

  I hid during lunch. I sat alone on the roof of the shed. I didn't want to be around Silver, Shadow, Scourge, or Mephilies. Gym class was outside no matter what. Rain or shine. I didn't eat. My stomach still hurt from that punch. I tried using a spoon to see how bad the strike to my cheek was. I gave up on looking.

"Okay, okay, now do a heart," a group of girls were taking pictures on their phones.

"Maybe I should- No, I can't afford it anyway," I sighed and just waited for the bell to ring.

  Gym class was the most peace if mind I had. Couch had us lined up. Then we were picked for teams in dodgeball.

"Whoa!" I tripped and fell back, "ow!" A ball hit me in the nose, "Oh this day sucks..."

"Sonic, bench!" The couch shouted.

  I sat out the rest of the game. There was a threat to me having a concussion.
                                                                        
                                                                        
  --- Mom and Dad ---

"Hi mom... hi dad... I finally got a chance to come alone today," I placed two chocolates on each grave, "I know my face looks bad, but we were playing dodgeball in the gym so its expected."

"I miss you guys. I'm sorry I still can't find a job. I'll find one soon, I just need to send out more applications."

"Even if... even if I'm stuck at some maid cafe or a waiter in a failing restaurant, it's better than starving."

"I'm sorry for skipping sixth period to see you. I just need someone to talk right now. I'll make up the work tomorrow. I promise."

"There you are," I knew that voice it was Shadow.

"Sonic, oh chaos what happened to you?!" Silver ran up to me and started moving me so each bruise was in his sight.

"Relax. It was dodgeball in gym today. I just didn't dodge," I didn't want them here. I didn't want Mom or Dad to know what was happening with them.

"I know the hit on your cheek is not from a ball," Mephilies pulled me up.

"I'm fine. Can you guys just go home? I want to be alone," I backed away from them.

"Guys, back down," Shadow sent them out, "they were worried about you. We all were."

"I didn't want them to know," I pushed him away.

"They don't. I just told them where you were," he pulled me into a hug.

"... I wanna go home," I hugged him. I felt like crying... today was awful.

"Okay, I'll take you home," he picked me up, but I didn't care this time.

  Shadow made sure no one asked me questions. When we got home I laid on the couch with Scourge and Mephilies. I didn't want to deal with anything anymore. I just wanted it to be quiet and calm. Silver put on a random show in the background. Shadow gave me an ice pack, Mephilies started the shower for me and Scourge ordered Chinese food. It would never be as quiet as a morning alone, but it was the best I was gonna get. It was nice... maybe even a little homey. But only a little.
