REMIEL CHEN ISN'T a hero. She's the furthest thing from it. The adopted daughter of Seraphina al Ghul, Remiel grew up as Mei, a deadly piece of the puzzle that completed the League of Assassins. With her innate ability to manipulate qi, she's a force to be reckoned with. Being an assassin was all she was. Her past was a complete mystery—neither Remiel nor Chen were even her real name, and her heritage was a big question mark with no answer. A question she didn't want answers to.

Once upon a time, she'd been allowed to be something else. She'd had the opportunity right in front of her, dangling like a carrot on a stick, but instead of grabbing it and making something of her life, she'd buried her knife in Dick Grayson's guts, turned her back to his cries of betrayal even though her heart bled the same way his did, and returned to what was easy. What was familiar.

Six years later, she finds herself back in Gotham.

The League of Assassins is in trouble. Ra's is dead, Talia and Seraphina are missing, and the last thing she's told is that Damian's been sent off to his biological father, and her once-upon mentor, Bruce Wayne. The Batman. And though she'd rather not see the betrayal and hurt in their eyes, she has no choice. Deathstroke has a list and her name was next, so she flees back to the manor she once turned her back on.

They welcome her. With suspicion, wariness and hurt. It was never quite nice looking at the people you once harmed so irreparably. Especially not when one of them was your first love. But she didn't have another option. It was this, or death.

She could deal with Dick Grayson and his cocktail mix of feelings towards her. And she was certain, absolutely certain, that she would not fall again for the boy with too-pretty blue eyes and devilish charm.

Never again.

hi!!!! welcome to the rewrite of no celestial. to those of you who read the last version, this story will be quite different. for example valentina is now remiel, and seraphina is an al ghul. the plot will thus change as well, and the story will no longer follow the structure of the old version (multiple short stories over a span of many years) and instead have a more conventional structure. i've also changed the faceclaim of valentina/remiel to lu yuxiao rather than yeh shuhua. one way for those of you who have read this to think of this story is like. imagine if valentina/remiel had been with the batfamily for a few years, went back to the league, and now she's back again!

i rarely write fanfiction. but at the same time i'm so in love with dick grayson soooooo. here we go again!!!!! this fic will be loosely based off the plot of "son of batman", set right around the time bruce first meets damian, but most of the other details and plotline will be changed. 

i was heavily inspired by the chinese show "my journey to you" (云之羽) and various factors may be lifted from the show and used here (most esp the ranks and stuff of wufeng, which i might lowkey just directly adopt for parts of the league of assasins)! since most of lu yuxiao's (faceclaim's) gifs and like are from the show... yeah. you get the idea.

(small update now that i'm writing part ii: a wuxia like clan plotline is prominent in pt ii!! remiel's powers are based off qi in wuxia as well!)

the google doc to the old version is on my message board somewhere. i think the perms are a bit fucked so i'll have to give perms??? i'll see if i can fix that. but keep in mind it is unfinished at only twenty-two chapters, however.
