Rivalry- Erwin x England

A/N: Thanks _Fem_Germany_ and -AphWhale-Sama- for the suggestion!

*England's POV*

"ARTHUR!! WAKE UP!! TODAY's THE BIG GAME!!"

I groaned angrily, "Alfred...That's what you say every first Friday of the month. As much as I hate being tardy, I'd say this would be the first day I would like to be... A little late..."

"But Arthur! We're going against the team who calls themselves 'we're more awesome than you', Gilbert's gonna panic if we don't get there in time, he wants to crush his enemies." He replied... annoyingly...

"Then I'll slap him later. Let's see who's more awesome then..." I laughed, turning around.

"But...this is an important game, we need to be super super early." Alfred panicked like bloody hell.

"Oh yeah? more important than slumber?" I sneered.

He nodded, "Yes. Code...red."

My eyes went wide open. I immediately got up from my bed and rushed to the bathroom to take a shower, I dressed up on my soccer uniform and ran downstairs before Alfred even left the room.

I ate three scones and a small cup of tea while shouting repeatedly, "ALFRED F JONES AND WANG YAO YOU TWO COME DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW YOU TWATS!!"

"WAIT IM STILL CHANGING ARU!!" Yao screamed back, rushing downstairs while putting his pants on. I asked,

"Where's that twat, Alfred?"

All of a sudden I heard a foolish cheer coming from upstairs, and...it was Alfred. He raised both his fists in the air and slid his hellish butt down the handle.

He jumped down and screeched, "the hero has entered the building!"

"This is a house, idiot. It's only three floors high, not technically a building. And you're just a sick person with a blanket on your back. 'Haven't done anything right to amuse this house..."

I replied sarcastically as Francis laughed his stupid French laugh at the table,

"Honhonhonhon, Alfie. You just got burnt by the one and only..." He cackled some more while I...disappointingly facepalm.

"Shut up, we have a serious game today. Code red is in the building-"

"It's a field, Arthur. Not a building. Who's sick now, huh?"

My eyes shrunk, I threw my hand into Alfred's face while Francis began laughing.

"You two never get old, do you?"

I raised my shoulders, "Who knows? Besides, you look pretty old already..."

He laughed harder, "Oh that's a good one, Honhon..."

I finished my breakfast. I stood up and instructed, "Alright, come on, you idiots. The game starts at ten, we can't be late."

"But it's only six, Iggy. If we get there, we're still three and a half hours early." Alfred complained while disgustingly munching on his bacon.

"That'll give us enough time to prepare."

"But we haven't even finished our breakfast Aru-" I grabbed both of their collars and dragged them away, saying,

"I have two burnt cookies in my pocket. Have you called the rest of the team yet?"

Alfred nodded, "Yup. Gil, Ton-Ton, Lovino, Elizabeta, Michelle, Belgium, Netherlands, 2p Matthew, Romania, Denmark, Ludwig, Feli, Kiku, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, and the rest. Yeah, everyone."

"Okay, but are those burnt cookies all the food you have on your pocket Aru?" Yao complained.

"That, or those leftover scones at the back of the car seats." I snickered with Francis walking past me with the car keys.

"Oh...gosh..." Alfred sighed in deep desperation. Yao just groaned loudly. Ivan wasn't home, he's with his sisters at their house.

Francis started the car, I threw the two at the front seat, then went in the front seat right next to Francis (believe me I didn't want this either but the backseat's full.)

On our way to school, Francis asked me, "I forgot, what does code red stand for again?"

I gritted my teeth furiously, "It's stands for that thick-eyebrowed idiot, Erwin Smith. The soccer leader of our school rival..."

Francis nodded slowly, "Remind me, why do you hate this guy so much?"

"Why do you not remember? Are hot chicks taking over your mind again?"

"Not that. I just joined your little soccer team. I'm a 'newbie', Iggy." He laughed.

"Oh..." I sighed, "Well...because...he's my ex."

"Woah, you're gay?" Francis sneered in shock.

My eyes shrunk, "Used to. Don't worry, I got over him a long time ago..."

*Erwin's POV*

I was tying my shoes in the locker room. Today was the day I was gonna go against my former lover, Arthur Kirkland. This is gonna be tasteful...

One of my teammates, Eren, asked, "Sir, who are we going up against again?"

"Country high." I replied.

Eren had this worried look in his eye, "sh*t, I just hope we don't lose again.they keep beating us."

He walked away and joined his friends. I remembered Arthur, the last game I had against him, he was angry as hell. His face was burning and he was a cold-talker in front of me.

I guess he wouldn't forget what I've done to him in the past. I didn't go with him on his important trip to England just because I didn't want to. He got pissed off at my laziness.

Then I made continuous lies on why I didn't go, which...of course, made him angrier. And then...my roommate was a girl, and when he found out, he thought I was cheating on him and called it off.

I moved on, of course. I got news that he turned straight and began living with four of his friends. And he moved on quicker than I did.

Every game I had with him, I flirted a little bit. He gets angry, which I think is cute. But he hates me, and I still do it, don't I?

I stopped my thoughts when the game was about to start. Shingeki no high versus Country high. Arthur let a cold glare at me, I just smiled. He got angrier, and I laughed.

I ran for the soccer ball. All of a sudden, Arthur had it before I had the chance to reach it. He led the ball to his goal, I followed him and started a small conversation,

"Hey, Arthur."

He let out another glare then turned away, "Get out of my way, Commander crap-face..."

"Aww...you're using the same nickname you gave me three weeks before our breakup..." I cooed maniacally.

"That was because your mouth had nothing but sh*tty lies and the worst breath in the universe. Makes sense now, huh?"

"Hey, you're Arthur Kirkland, not Lovino Vargas..." I snickered.

"HEY!! SH*T FACES LIKE YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO USE MY F*CKING NAME, YOU F*CKING BASTARDO!!" I heard Lovino screaming in the distance.

I laughed, "Your friends seem nice..." I said sarcastically.

Arthur sighed, "Just get out of my way. You had enough. It's over, face facts..." He ran off to score their last goal. They won...for the eleventh time...

~time skip~

I was at my house, resting on my bed. Suddenly my phone got a text. I took it from my pocket and replied. It was a friend of mine, Levi Ackerman...

Levi: I heard you and your brats lost the game against Country high again...

I sighed in disappointment for myself while slowly replying to this text.

Erwin: Yeah, seems like they're too good for us, huh?

I began growing frustration in my mind when I saw his reply,

Levi: No... It's cause you guys suck. I observed in the field that...your competitors are just decent. And mostly your fault, because you keep flirting with your ex.

Erwin: what does that have to do with this?

Levi: Look, I know it's hard to move on from a loss, but you have to stop letting people down because of it. Now if you'll excuse me...

He went offline after that. He was right. I had to face facts. It was over, I can't do anything about it. I should just focus on my game. It'll make life easier if I parted ways with what I thought.

And then my phone beeped again. It was a message from...Arthur? Even though I never had his messages deleted, I can't believe he'd still text me.

Here's what it said:

Hello, Erwin

I'd like to apologize for what happened earlier, I was just really depressed on what happened in the past, I just realized in the present that it was all a misunderstanding.

I also would like to say sorry for Lovino's 'breakdown' earlier this morning. He has... Anger issues. Don't worry about him, he'll be fine in a few days.

To make it up for what I said in the past, how about a walk at the bridge we used to stay before? I just like living in good memories...

It's okay if you don't want to go, it's fine with me. I just want to make it up for being so cruel.

I turned my phone off and pressed my lips, just when I was about to move on...but it's okay, it's just for one night...

*England's POV*

I was sitting on the bridge handles, waiting for Erwin to come. I was nervous, I mean...this is really really awkward because he's my rival, and because he's my ex, it's hard for me.

Then I heard a voice, but it wasn't who I expected...in fact, wasn't what I wanted either (believe me it's far from what I wanted...)

"You're waiting for someone?"

I almost fell off the bridge handle, it turned out to be...

"Francis, what're you doing here?"

"Just wanted to check on you gu-"

I covered his mouth with my palm when I saw Erwin walking in the distance. I pushed Francis off the bridge before Erwin saw me, there was a loud splash of water on the river.

Erwin called my attention, "Arthur!"

I waved, "hey, Erwin."

He put his hands in his pockets for the cold weather, "So,where should we do?"

"You guys should go to that place where I met my first girl." Someone said. I looked down and got irritated to see Francis, in the river.

I took a burnt scone from my pocket and hit his head with it. He fake cried and swam away. I laughed and turned to Erwin, who smiled at me as we began walking around.

~another time skip~

"Remember we used to come here and make people insult us for our eyebrow-game..." I laughed while staring at the middle of the bridge.

"Yeah and then we beat those people up for doing so. And that one time when we pushed three guys off a bridge just for trying to pluck the eyebrows." He replied

I laughed harder, sighing in joy, "I don't know why. But I just keep thinking of how much you suck in my life, I never got to realize how fun you are."

He smiled wider and turned away, "Would it be wrong if we went back together?"

I paused. It took a moment for me to think. He caused me the worst pain, but the best experience. I grinned and nodded slowly,

"Fine. Just promise me, we stay rivals at the field, okay?"

"Okay."
