"Marlon... Marlon.." Michael whispers his brother's name as they both sat on the opposite side of the room. Both were handcuffed to the wall. Michael's right eye swell with a bruise, his bottom lip bled due to a cut. His fractured wrist had a wrap around it to protect it but had minimum support.
Marlon avoid looking over at his brother and kept his eyes downward. "Please Marlon... please talk to me" Michael adds as Marlon shakes his head.
"Why didn't you fight back, Michael? Why did you just allow them to hit you...? I thought you would fight back. Normally, you would but this time, you didn't..." Marlon finally responds but continues to avoid looking at Michael.
Michael sighs heavily as he places two fingers against his temples as he could feel the pressure beginning to form from the amount of trauma by the beating hours prior.
"I... I did that to protect you, Marlon. It was either you or me. I couldn't let them hurt you because you didn't do anything wrong. I... I did. Joseph did and now I'm taking that responsibility instead of running and hiding." Michael says as he pulls his body upward. "There are things that I didn't tell you. Things that I kept from you. Things that I had to learn that Joseph had done in the past... Joseph lied to us... about how he became the Don. He murdered an entire family. Everything that our father built on our family was a lie. The necklace that I had given Evanora. It was from their family. He stolen everything from Al Capone and his family..." Michael whispers to Marlon. "He wants revenge from what our family had taken from his... that is all that he wants." Michael croaks out to his brother.
"The necklace that you had given to her..? Why did you gave it to her, she could get killed! I don't understand... when did you find out about this, Michael? About everything? So our entire family history is a fucking lie? How our own father built everything off of his back was a lie?" Marlon asks as Michael lowers his eyes.
"I've known about it for this entire time... I've made a vow with Samantha to not speak about it unless death is upon us... Marlon, please I beg of you to not say anything to anyone. We need to keep that necklace away from him especially, Evanora. If we are able to get out of this, we have to protect her."
"Why would you vow to something like that, Michael?" Marlon asks as he finally looks at his brother and could see the amount of bruising and dried blood on his face. Michael inhales.
"Because at the time, I thought it was necessary. To protect our family, our history. We had so much pride.... but the truth... was more important than to continue lying." Michael says. Michael inhales and exhales heavily before he laid his back against the cement wall. "If I am to die here ... and you are able to live, you will have to tell everyone the truth rather it, dying with me. I can't die as a liar or a cheater in life but I can die as a respected Don... I want you to also protect Evanora. She is all that matters to me. Please..."
"Michael.. you aren't going to die especially not here. We will get out of here. I know we will because I'll die trying too." Marlon replies. Michael smiles at him.
"I like the sound of that, Marlon. The determination should have been used at the warehouse and before then. I knew you had it in you, Marlon. I'm proud of you." Marlon smiles back at Michael before Michael felt a sharp pain at the side of his body causing Michael to jump in pain. "Fuck..." Michael whimpers. Marlon reaches out his hand to his brother, Michael takes his hand and squeezes it as he shut his eyes tightly as the pain became overwhelming. Dried blood stained the side of his lips as several bruises were around his body; his stomach, sides, legs and arms. His hair was layer with dust and messy along with his used to be white, suit.
"We will get out of here." Marlon says to Michael as Michael coughs heavily. "And you will be alive when we do." Marlon adds as Michael nods his head slowly as he closes his eyes slowly.
