The original name for the Nintendo company wasnt just Nintendo in the beginning...

The original mame was Nintendo Koppai! Founded on September 23 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi in Japan!

In the beginning, Nintendo Koppai was a small business that produced hanafuda cards. Which was a Japanese card game.

Fun fact: Nintendo still produces Hanafuda cards! Though they are Mario themed.

Nintendo Koppai remained strictly a card company from 1889 to 1965!

Fun Fact; in 1956, Nintendo struck a deal with Disney to use their characters on the cards!

Fun Fact: The name "Nintendo" is commonly assumed to mean "leave luck to heaven" but is not 100% accurate to some.

In, 1933, current leader of the company named Sekiryo Yamauchi renamed Nintendo Koppai to Yamauchi Nintendo & Co. It remained this until 1947, when it was again renamed In 1951, he renamed to Nintendo Playing Card Co. The final name change was in 1963 where the company received the final name, Nintendo!

From 1963 to 1968, Nintendo tried different businesses, such as:

A Taxi Company
A "love Hotel" (:3)
And
A Food Chain

All of these ideas failed. Except toymaking!
