(Y/n) huffed a little to herself, her breath showed in the frosty air as she trudged through the snow. Hot tears ran down her cheeks, her eyes slightly puffy.
She approaches a certain tree, tracing some of the markings with her finger, more tears forming inside her eyes.
(Y/n) had just lost pretty much everything. Her home, destroyed, along with a majority of her belongings.
(Y/n) had no family, at least not anymore.
So, she was all alone, just like she had started out.
She slid down to the ground, back against the tree as sobs began to engulf her.

A few month prior-
(Y/n) pulled a shivering little Lloyd closer to her body, offering some comfort to the small child.
The two were currently in a room, locked and guarded by the serpentine. (Y/n) had already scouted for any ways out, but upon seeing none the best thing they could do was wait together.
(Y/n) and Lloyd had been captured, Lloyd snuck in and accidentally got discovered, (Y/n) being an innocent bystander that had happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
When the two were thrown in together, (Y/n) managed to befriend the young boy. She had tried to distract him with games of rock paper scissors, eye spy, and questioned him about the comics he reads.
Even with (Y/n)'s attempts to distract him, she could tell he was still scared. So, she tried her best to comfort him. The dark, cold room made it a little bit harder to do that though.
The faint muffling of the serpentine generals arguing could be heard, but not enough to completely disturb the quiet atmosphere.
Lloyd gave a small whimper as he cuddled into (Y/n)'s arms. He was obviously not enjoying this one bit. He gave a small yawn, probably exhausted from the day's events.
(Y/n) felt bad for the little boy, "Maybe you should try to get some sleep while you can" She told him as he yawned again.
"I can't sleep" He mumbles, burying his small face into her side. (Y/n) sighs and puts a hand on his head, rubbing it a bit and ruffling some of the hair.
"Can you tell me a story? It might help" He asked, looking up at her with big, hopeful eyes.
(Y/n) smiled "Alright, if it'll help you sleep."

Zane could hardly believe it.
'I'm a robot?' The question kept swirling in his head as he examined the blueprints. He already confirmed it by opening up his chest panel, and seeing all the wires, switches, and gears.
It was still hard to believe, after all he'd lived a good while thinking he was human, functioning like a human, and feeling like a human too.
Sure, he had his differences, but he still felt a majority of what his brothers had felt.
"Uh, a memory switch?" He says softly to himself, looking down and seeing the switch. Curiosity got the better of him. He flipped it, and instantly a rush of memories flooded his mind.
~~~
"Once there was a brilliant inventor, who made the most interesting of machines. He lived alone in the birchwood forest, which made him very lonely.
So, he built himself a robot son. But this robot was different from others, because the man had made it to where the boy could feel, emotions, just like you and me."
"Whoa, how'd he do that?"
"Well, I'm not exactly sure. We'll just say it's magic, alright? Now, on with the story.
He raised his son, and gave him a pet falcon so he wouldn't be alone. But even with the pet, he noticed his boy still grew lonely.
You see, people need other people, whether or not they know it. Everyone needs a friend."
"But he was a robot"
"He felt human emotions, remember? Now hush or I'll never finish the story"
"Fine, fine, I'll stop asking questions."
"Good. Anyways, he knew his son would be better off with some friends, but the problem was that he lived so far from other towns and villages that no one ever came near.
So, the inventor just had to sadly watch his son grow up without a friend. Or, so he thought.
One day, while the inventor and his boy were out looking for firewood, it had begun to snow rather heavily.
He called out for his son to go home, but heard no response. His son was distracted, because he had spotted a young girl and decided to talk to her.
"Hello, my name is Zane" His son greeted as he spoke to her.
The girl looked up, and timidly replied "H-hello."
The two began to converse-"
"Converse?"
"Talk, the two bagan to talk. The young girl slowly started to relax as she saw Zane was no threat.
The inventor walks over to his son, seeing the little girl who looked up at him, shivering a bit in the cold.
The man was worried for the girl, he thought he was lost. "Goodness, you'll catch a cold out here" He exclaimed, "Where are your parents?"
The girl looked away sadly with a frown. His son hesitantly reached out a hand and patted her back comfortingly.
She smiles at him, before in a small hesitant voice replying "I-I don't have parents.. I'm an orphan... I ran away from the orphanage"
The inventor felt sorry for the girl. "Please don't take me back there" The girl pleaded to him, not wanting to return.
The inventor kneeled down and put a hand on her shoulder "Don't worry, I won't take you back to the orphanage" He said to her.
She let out a sigh of relief, before shivering against the cold again. "How would you like to have a new family?" The inventor asks the little girl.
"I'd love to" She replied.
The inventor smiled, then took her in as one of his own. He brought her home, where he raised her along with his son.
All three of them were happy, living in the woodland homes together.
But unfortunately, the man had grown old, and soon enough he died when the young girl had turned 10.
His son, which had been a brother to the girl, had his memory switch turned off by the inventor.
Both the girl and the son left the house when he died, the girl looking sadly at the boy's blank face.
She saw some skeletons, and frightened she ran away, thinking her brother was right behind her.
He wasn't, and soon, the girl was to have no home, no family. But, it was ok, she ended up finding a place to stay, where she would stay for a long while"
(Y/n) sighed, and looked down. Lloyd had fallen asleep a little bit before she finished, (Y/n) had just been too deep in telling the story to notice.
She let out a yawn, feeling pretty tired herself. Soon enough, she found her droopy eyelids closing, and (Y/n) dozed off to sleep.
A few days after the great devourer had been destroyed, Zane had visited his old home. In what little time he had to spare, he wanted to revisit the old memories, and go through the home more thoroughly.
He spent at least 3 hours in that home. He looked through the plans, he flipped through some books, he dusted off a few of the old pictures.
One frame in particular caught his eye, though. It was of him, his father, and a young (H/c) haired girl with cute (E/c) eyes.
He picks it up, remembering how his father had adopted the girl, and how many fond memories he had of him and her playing together, laughing together, and just being siblings in general.
"I wonder what she's up to now" Zane hums, putting the picture back where he had found it.
He hoped she had found a good place to stay, maybe even a nice family to be with.
The falcon let out a loud screech, interrupting Zane's thoughts. "What is it my little friend?" He asks with a smile.
The falcon screeched and flew over to the door. "Oh? Is there something outside?" He asked curiously.
The falcon let out another screech in reply, flapping its wings. "Alright, I'll go check it out" Zane says, grabbing at his ninja stars just in case.
He opened the door quietly, peeking his head out. There, he saw a (H/c) haired girl, knees up to her chest as tears silently fell from her eyes.
He steps out, catching her attention. Her (E/c) eyes felt so familiar to him, but he wasn't quite sure.
"Umm, excuse me, are you alright?" Zane asked, tilting his head at the girl. She wipes some of the tears from her eyes, nodding.
"If I may, why are you crying?"He asked, sliding down the trunk of the tree to sit down next to her.
"I- uh, ahem. Sorry, I'm just in a bad spot right now" She says with an embarrassed chuckle, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Ah, I see. What are you doing out here then? Surely there are warmer places you could stay" Zane asks.
"Well, this was kind of my childhood home, as weird as it sounds.. I guess I came here because I don't know where else to turn too" She admits, looking down.
Zane studied her carefully with widened eyes, everything clicking in his head. "Are you, perhaps... (Y/n)? (Y/n) Julien?"
The girl looked up, her eyes met his with a perplexed yet curious gaze. "Yes... W- You aren't Zane.. Are you?" She whispered.
Zane nodded, and the (Y/n) covered her mouth. Zane saw more tears form in her eyes, but before he could say anything she pulled him into a hug.
"I- I thought I'd never see you again" She exclaims, hugging him tighter. Zane hesitates for a moment, before hugging back gently.
"I thought the same," He admits. The girl pulled away, sniffling softly. "How did you recognize me? I thought dad turned off your memory switch" She asks.
"I found it again, and flipped it on. Do you have a home?" Zane asked, eager to catch up with his sister.
She shook her head. Zane smiled at her, gently. "Come then, I have a place for you to stay. We have much to catch up on, sister"
