It's said that if your soulmate starts to sing, you have to sing that song too, or get into a perfect duet with them, whether or not you want to.

Kai was feeling bored, training was over with and everyone was out doing their own thing, and with the previous knowledge acquired, he decided it was time to screw with his soulmate.

He scrolled through some songs, before deciding on one. 'The Fighter doesn't seem too bad, let's go with that' he thought, putting on the song.

Of all the time in the day (Y/n)'s soulmate could have chosen to sing a duet... It just had to be in the middle of a school presentation.

'I know he hurt you. Made you scared of love, too scared to love' his voice rang in her head, signaling the start of a duet.

(Y/n) stifled a groan, hoping he'd stop before he messed up the presentation. Still, she continued carrying out the presentation.

"And this leads to.." She spoke, hoping she could wrap this presentation up quickly and not make a fool of herself.

'Cause your precious heart is a precious heart. He didn't know what he had and I thank God, oh, oh, oh. And it's gonna take just a little time. But you're gonna see that I was born to love you' The voice continued, finally stopping.

" And that means..." (Y/n) drifts off, dread filled her as words that she couldn't control came tumbling out of her mouth.

"What if I fall?" (Y/n) sang, beginning to sweat as the class chuckled. 'I won't let you fall'

"What if I cry?" She continued, feeling herself getting lost into the song already. 'I'll never make you cry'

(Y/n) began to move forward, in a bit of a dancing motion. "And if I get scared?" She sang, beginning to dance along to the song. 'I'll hold you tighter, when they're tryna get to you baby I'll be the fighter'

"What if I fall" She sang again, now losing sense of all audience and enveloped in the song 'I won't let you fall'

"What if I cry?" 'I promise I'll never make you cry'

"And if I get scared" 'I'll hold you tighter, when they're tryna get to you baby I'll be the fighter'

'Look in the mirror. You're beautiful, so beautiful. I'm here to remind you. You're my only one, let me be the one. To heal all the pain that he put you through. It's a love like you never knew. Just let me show you'

"When they're tryna get to you baby I'll be the fighter' They both finish at the same time, (Y/n) strikes a dramatic pose, feeling all giddy inside.

That is, until she comes to her senses and realizes that she's in the middle of class... at the front of the room... supposed to do a presentation...

(Y/n) slowly looks up, cheeks burning in embarrassment as she stopped posing and gazed upon the class. "Sorry, soulmate.." She mumbled.

The teacher just looks at her amusedly, before clapping. "Wonderful performance, too bad your soulmate wasn't here to make it better" The teacher comments. 

"Thanks" (Y/n) says, before clearing her throat and awkwardly wrapping up the presentation before going back to her desk. She sinks into the seat, wanting to hide from the burning embarrassment.

'When I meet my soulmate, we're going to have a serious talk about these random duets'

It was after school, late at night, (Y/n) figured her soulmate was probably going to bed by now. 'Well then' She thought, 'Now would be the perfect time for some revenge'

Kai was getting ready for bed, when in his mind some music started playing. All too familiar music, music that no one wants to hear. The words entered his mind as he began to unwillingly sing along "We're no strangers to love~"

'Seriously?!'  Kai thought to himself, as if his soulmate could actually hear him. "You know the rules and so do I. A full commitment's what I'm thinking of; You wouldn't get this from any other guy. I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling, gotta make you understand~"

Kai groaned and laid in bed, hoping his soulmate would shut up and let him sleep. Instead, she just got louder, which in turn made him sing louder. "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN! NEVER GONNA RUN AROUND AND DESERT YOU!"

"Dude, we're trying to sleep here!" Jay shouts from the other room, "Yea, quit singing so loudly" Cole said from afar, both of them trying to sleep.

Kai let out a heavy sigh, he knew the singing wouldn't cease. "NEVER GONNA MAKE YOU CRY! NEVER GONNA SAY GOODBYE! NEVER GONNA TELL A LIE AND HURT YOU" 

Kai sighed, 'I swear I'm going to kill my soulmate'

(Y/n) was taking a test, the whole class was silent. She was concentrating, hoping she gets the answer right, and trying not to second guess herself on her answers.

'In the light that falls at moonrise; In the rhythm of the rain; In the miracle of ordinary days. In the hush of night I will be in the whisper of lovers, everywhere, you will find me there~' A voice sings in (Y/n)'s head.

'Not now, I'm trying to concentrate' (Y/n) thinks, trying to continue the test and not letting the song distract her.

'In the rustle of a curtain. In the bustle of the world. In a thousand little unexpected ways. When you lift your gaze I will be like the shimmer of one small star; Out there, shining everywhere' (Y/n) huffs silently, frustrated.

'I will be there, beside you through the lonely nights that fall; So close your eyes, remember my embrace! I will be there, like mercy, I will find you through it all. This do I swear, I will be there~' the voice fades away, leaving (Y/n) in relief.

That is, until realization hits. 'I wasn't singing along... this must be a duet' She thought, her stomach doing flips as words began to tumble out of her mouth, beyond her control.

"In a language never spoken. Live the promises we've made. In the endless love that owned me heart and soul. In the certainty, I will always be true, and as near as my next prayer, you will find me there" She sang, face flushing red as she continued against her will.

"In the echo of the ocean; In the hunting of the wind; In mysterious extraordinary ways. Through the darkest sky I will be like the shimmer of one small star! Out there, shining everywhere" She stood, embarrassment flooded through her.

"I will be there beside you through the lonely nights that fall. So close your eyes, remember my embrace. I will be there, like freedom, I will find you through it all. This do I swear, I will be there" She began to move, thought she willed her body to return to the seat and stop singing.

"In the harbor quarter" She starts, 'In the stone and mortar'

''in the star that we both share!' They sang together, in sync though they were quite far apart.

"In the sound of laughter" She sang, forgetting about her surroundings and melting into the song 'Now and ever after'

"Look for me, I will be there!' They both paused, before in perfect sync continuing

"I will be there beside you through the lonely nights that fall, So close your eyes' They started.

'Remember my embrace,' "Remember my embrace!" They sang in perfect harmony.

'I will be there' "Will be there!" They both had gotten lost in the song, "Like justness; I will find you through it all'

'This do I swear,' The song began to wrap up, voices softened as they continued. "This do I swear"

'I will be there' The voice in her head sang, "This do I swear; I will be there"

"This do I swear, I will be there~' Both finished off the song, drifting off into silence. (Y/n) opened her eyes, and suddenly realized.

'Oh, right, I'm taking a freaking TEST'

She looked down in embarrassment and slumped into her seat, continuing her test. She was SO going to get her soulmate back later.

This song war had gone on for too long, Kai decided, he was going to find his soulmate today, he swore on it.

How was he going to do this? By singing loud random duets everywhere until someone sings in a perfect sync with him of course.

(Y/n) hums a little to herself as she looks at her treat, it was the weekend and she had decided to go out and get her favorite snack.

She opened her mouth to take, she paused when she heard a guy humming something. "Ohh, I do I do I do I Dooo! Hey! Ohh, I do I do I do I Dooo!" He seemed to sing to himself.

"Dang, his voice sounds familiar" (Y/n) mumbles to herself, quiet enough to where the stranger couldn't hear her.

She took quick note of his brunette spiky hair and his bright expression, smiling a bit to herself as she looked.

"Boy, you got me helpless! Look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit I'm- Helpless! Down for the count, and I'm drownin' in 'em" He sang, nodding his head a little as he sang.

For some reason, this boy peaked (Y/n)'s interest, but she shrugged and went for a bite of her treat until she started singing.

"I have never been the type to try and grab the spotlight. We were at a revel with some rebels on a hot night. Laughin' at my sister as she's dazzling the room. Then you walked in and my heart went: Boom!"

(Y/n) was very confused, 'This isn't supposed to be a duet song .... is it? She thinks as she looked at the amused and happy expression of the guy.

'.... WAIT MORE IMPORTANTLY IS THIS GUY MY SOULMATE?! THE ONE WHO'S BEEN SINGING DUETS IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING CLASS?!' She thinks, eyes wide as she watched him continue.

"Tryin' to catch your eye from the side of the ballroom. Everybody's dancin' and the band's top volume" He sang, walking up next to (Y/n).

"Grind to the rhythm as we wine and dine. Grab my sister, and whisper: Yo, this one's mine." (Y/n) knew then that he was her soulmate.

"My sister made her way across the room to you And I got nervous, thinking "What's she gonna do?" She grabs you by the arm, I'm thinkin' "I'm through" Then you look back at me and suddenly I'm Helpless!"  (Y/n) continued.

"Look into your eyes; And the sky's the limit, I'm helpless, Down for the count, And I'm drownin' in 'em" He sang, an excited glint shone in his eyes.

"I'm helpless! Look into your eyes, And the sky's the limit. I'm helpless! I'm down for the count. And I'm drownin' in 'em" She continued, unable to break the gaze he held. 'Gee, what a fitting song'

"Where are you taking me?" She starts, "I'm about to change your life~" He finished, as they sang the rest of the song together

'No kidding about that..'

The song war didn't cease since they found each other, but now Kai doesn't sing duets while she's in the middle of class, and (Y/n) doesn't sing after he sleeps, most of the time at least.

Yes, they enjoyed messing with each other by singing at times when it's really not the time, but they did love each other and never meant any real harm.

Kai and (Y/n) were one heck of a dynamic duet
