Liz felt her back ache as she curled up more into a smaller ball in the back of Kai's dragon. Her wolf body taking a pretty good beating.

First day in Ninjago and I'm already riding dragons.

It had been longer than expected and Liz was starting to get restless and was wishing a little bit that she was in her Sunblood body. And all the boys did was talk. She didn't mind talking, but the way the boys talked about her was what made her mad. Liz's nerves grew as time grew on. She couldn't help but think about what would happen if the rebel Princess Phantom was up to something. Phantom died before Liz was born, she only knew about her through stories. Very long stories.

"So, what do you think about the new girl?" she heard Kai ask, interrupting her thoughts.

"Liz?" Cole queered. "She seems cool."

"Can we even trust her?" Jay added. "She seems like she could be bad news. Did you see her daggers?!"

Cole scoffed. "So she has daggers and she's a few years younger than us. We have weapons too when others suggest we shouldn't."

"She just gives me the heebie jeebies."

"That's no way to talk about our new sister," Zane said.

"She's not our sister, Zane," Jay snapped.

Damn right.

"Not yet anyways."

"Hey!" Kai exclaimed. "I see the village!"

Finally.

That's when it kinda sunk in. Being apart of this new family? No way. But the more she thought about it, it would be better than home would be if she was still there. But that all will change when she gets her power and is able to go back. Soon.

"Last one there cleans the stables!"

Uh oh.

"What?! No fair!"

Liz felt the force of Kai's dragon speed up and dive when it was too late and she could feel her stomach turn as the mighty dragon pushed itself down towards the ground.

Her head banged against the box and soon enough, Kai landed his dragon and it was over. Liz felt the ache of her head start to worsen as she settled in the box again.

Shit.

Liz rested her head against the side and used her ears to listen to the boys as they got off the dragons.

"I was first! Me! It was me!" Jay screamed.

"What do you mean? It was was clearly me!" Zane fought back.

Suddenly, the bickering was cut off by the sound of a distant scream from the village. Evil laughter of some kind was echoing through the village and the boys immediately ran towards the commotion.

When the coast was clear, Liz poked her head out of the box and shifted into her Sunblood body. When she was ready, she got prepared to jump but saw a scroll pointing out of Kai's bag just asking to be open. Out of curiosity, Liz rolled it open to read it. It was however in a language she'd never seen before but there were pictures of a red, blue, white, and black people on it. As well as green in the middle. Liz twitched an ear under her hat. Weird.

Liz put the scroll back and slid down the side of the red dragon and landed on her sore feet with a wince. Liz started to head towards the village when she heard a growl of disapproval.

The young assassin turned on her heal towards big, powerful yellow eyes looking into her soul. Liz swallowed nervously.

"You shouldn't have come here" growled the beast.

Liz flattened her ears.

"I'm sorry, but I have to. I need to reach my true potential." Liz scoffed. "You wouldn't understand."

The dragon huffed. "I do understand you. I feel your emotions as much as you feel mine. But it's too dangerous."

Liz flicked her tail. "I will stop at nothing to get my power."

"Somehow, that doesn't surprise me." The dragon lowered his head. "You remind me of Kai. You two would get along well."

Liz left the dragon's gaze.

"I wish you safe passage, little one. My name is Flame." the dragon said with a bow.

Liz bowed her head back. "I'm Lizabeth."

"Be safe, Lizabeth."

Liz paid her respects with another bow and turned to revert back into her wolf body and followed the lines of the shadows.

The young assassin always respected dragons, despite the fact that she'd never met one. Most Moonbloods are taught how to speak English, dragon, and wolf. She knew nothing about the dragon's cultures. Liz's mother had told her about dragons that knew how to speak English but that died a long time ago with Phantom.

Liz lifted her nose to the sky and tasted the air. Dirt. Candy. Dirt. Kai.

Liz brightened as she followed the strong sent from the boy's hair and padded down towards the smell.

She felt her blood pressure rise from her pelt as she stalked along the side of the houses. She made it to where the Ninja were gathered around a large fountain. That's when the shadow appeared.

"It's Garmadon!" Jay screamed.

An evil laugh echoed through the narrow village but as the shadow got smaller, the voice got weaker and higher. That's when a young boy, maybe her age, walked out from behind the deceiving fountain and addressed the crowd with a strange confidence. He was wearing a black hoodie with painted ribs over it and had a purple belt and he smelt... kinda good. For a boy.

This was Garmadon?

At least it's not Phantom. Not yet.

"It is I!" the boy proclaimed. "Lloyd Garmadon!"

"Lloyd Garmadon?" Jay questioned. "I thought we were facing Lord Garmadon!"

"It's his son," Kai answered for the blue Ninja. "He must have escaped his boarding school for bad boys again."

That's a thing? Liz thought. Interesting. Maybe this plan of Wu's will work after all.

"Give me all your candy or I'll release the Serpentine on you!"

Liz tensed. The Serpentine? What could those be? A new tribe of dragon?

Back before Liz's time, the dragons lived in a realm that was home to them and another creature Liz couldn't quite remember the name of. But after large disagreements, the dragons created their own territory called the Soul Lands and broke apart into 7 different clans, each one had a unique dragon kind. She knew what they were but nothing stopped the dragons from making more clans she guessed. Of course she'd heard of the "Serpentine War" but never who was in it.

"He can't be serious," Cole spat.

"Of course not," Kai said, annoyed, tapping his foot. "He's got to do a lot better than just using an old bed time story to scare us."

"The Serpentine are real Kai," Zane interjected. "They're not something to joke about."

"Please," Kai said. "I can't picture this kid doing anything like that."

I've seen worse.

Lloyd stood on top of the fountain and kept his hands above his head with pride. But instead of getting his request, the villagers threw their veggies at the boy. Liz stifled a laugh, she always found it amusing when people were put in their place. She assumed she got it from her mother.

"Wait. No!" Lloyd yelled. "Not vegetables! I hate vegetables!"

After a while, Liz felt the amusement fade. She didn't know why but Liz felt a little sadness for Lloyd. She could feel his anger and his frustration and ultimately, his sadness.

Liz was called an Empath. She could feel other people's emotions as if they were her own. It was both a blessing and a curse.

The Ninja sighed and they went up to the boy and picked him up from off the fountain with ease.

"Put me down!" Lloyd demanded.

Liz tracked the boys through the shadows and she followed them as they brought him through the village as they discussed, ignoring the yelling from Lloyd.

"What should we do with him?" Kai questioned. "Spank him?"

"Nah, he's too old for that," Cole said.

Liz watched as the Ninja hung him on a pole sitting on the side of the road as he continued yelling and trying to fight back but it was useless in the end, as Cole's strength out weighed the boy's.

Sure Lloyd was arogenate but there had to be a better way to deal with this than leaving him on a poll like that.

Jay and Zane walked off and paid for some candy and gave a few to the other two boys, taunting Lloyd as they ate it with smug looks on their faces.

"Next time," Jay began. "Pay for your candy."

The boys started to walk off as the villagers cheered while some continued to throw some last pieces of food at Lloyd.

Liz made a mental note to come back for him after the Ninja left and she padded to a place where she could hide and wait.

Liz watched as the Ninja mounted their dragons when Kai stepped on his bag. The scroll from earlier rolled out onto the ground and unfolded before the Ninja.

"Huh?" Kai dismounted and picked up the scroll, looking over the paper.

Liz could barley see if but she could make out the colored blobs on the paper. Red, blue, black, white, and green.

"I don't remember putting this in here," Kai said, confused.

"You must have grabbed Sensei's bag by mistake," Zane implied.

Good luck reading it, boys.

Liz would have been damned if she left her bag around the house or anywhere for that matter.

"What is it?" asked Jay.

"It's a scroll, dim bag," Cole said, taking the scroll.

"I know it's a scroll," Jay bristled. "But what does it say!"

"I can't read it. It's in chicken scratch!" Cole said.

"Not chicken scratch," Zane interjected. "It's the old language of Ninjago."

"Well can you read it?" Kai questioned.

"I can try," Zane responded.

"One ninja will rise above the others to become the green ninja." he read. "He will rise and be destined to defeat the dark lord."

"The dark lord?" Kai queried. "Lord Garmadon?"

"Ooo! A picture!" Jay exclaimed.

"Wait, is that us?" Cole asked. "Is anybody thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Like how good I'm going to look in green? Jay interjected.

"Pft," Kai spat. "It's obviously going to be me."

"What? The color obviously suits me!" Jay yelled back.

"Technically, I am the best." Zane chimed in.

Holy shit, that unfolded quickly.

"Enough!" Cole yelled. "We're a team. Have you forgotten that? You know damn well that we weren't supposed to see this and probably for good reason. Besides, isn't it obvious? Liz will probably end up being the green ninja."

Liz lowered her gaze. Could she be the one? Is that why Wu kept her alive? Agreed to let her stay? Because she was the one to defeat Garmadon?

"Come on," Cole continued. "We have training to do."

The boys quietly mounted their dragons.

Flame turned his gaze towards Liz once again and nodded before he took off behind the others as Kai whispered into the air, "Could I be the green ninja?".

Liz felt respect for the fire dragon and nodded back. No turning back now.

Liz's ears perked as she heard Lloyd's cry pierce through the village. Liz quickly shifted back to her Sunblood's body and let her hands and feet come back as she stood up. She let her legs carry her through the empty village streets and she reached the poll where the boy was.

Lloyd had gotten himself down and was laying on the ground on his back. As Liz approached, he sat himself up and brushed some of the food off of his hoodie.

Liz approached with caution. She had to be carful when approaching Sunbloods which was another reason for the hat and wearing baggy black clothes. You wouldn't be startled at first unless you really looked.

Plus, she always thought her ears looked weird.

Lloyd looked at Liz and had a small spark of hope that he might actually get out of here in one piece.

"Hi," Liz beamed. "I'm Liz. I saw what the villagers were doing to you and I thought I could come help you."

"Help me?" Lloyd scoffed. "I'm Lloyd Garmadon! I don't need help!"

Liz huffed. "Well I don't have anywhere else to go so either way, you're stuck with me."

Lloyd still wasn't convinced.

"I'm an outcast too." Liz said, flicking her tail.

Lloyd's eyes locked on her tail as he watched it swing softly back and forth.

Liz looked around before taking off her hat revealing her messy hair and her large black ears.

Lloyd gasped softly as she fixed her hair and put her hat back on.

"So? Mind if I tag along?" Liz asked, reaching her hand out.

Lloyd took it and Liz felt the spark it created. She could tell that Lloyd felt it too.

"Sure," he said.

Liz pulled Lloyd to his feet and Lloyd started leading Liz out of the village.

This won't be so bad.
