Chapter 4: A hunt through the night

It was now nightfall. The majority of guests inside the palace were asleep except one particular green dressed young man. He was cautiously sneaking around to explore his new surroundings even more. He was careful to not make any noise for he knows that the emperor and the empress wouldn't be too happy of that. Especially Hutchins who would verbally beat him up for it. There was one thing he noticed in particular, there were banners in the library. Not just any banner or else why would he pay attention to it? He recalled that while the ninja were following Hutchins in the palace's tour, he spotted green and light green banners. Ofcourse he couldn't suppress a little smile when seeing that the royal family was indeed tremendously interested in the prophecy.
Back to reality, he passed by Harumi's room. But he caught on that the doors were open and smoke came from inside of it. His eyes shot open as he realized that the princess could be in potential danger. He quietly ran inside the room and looked around for the princess. He also noticed that the room was mess, shreds of paper all scattered on the floor and the curtains were open. His heartbeat started accelerating. "Princess....Harumi?" he called out, almost in a whisper. The room was almost empty, if it weren't for the pieces of furniture. The princes was out of sight. He gasped and ran outside in the balcony to only spot a green hooded figure hopping along the roofs of the palace away with a large bag.
His instincts kicked in. "He kidnapped the princess!" He looked around for any safe way to land.
Beneath him were just more roofs. He stood up on the railing and jumped to the right. The roof there was exactly on his level. The culprit was getting away with the princess, he thought to himself as he ran after the unknown individual. Trying not to trip. He was struck with awe as the kidnapper was able to hop through every roof with ease, they didn't even stumble back once. "This kidnapper definitely has ninja skills." He shivered, thinking that the unknown individual would be able to match his. He continued to run after the kidnapper, at this point, the person already knows they're being followed. Lloyd found himself catching up to the kidnapper little by little. He felt happy that he could adapt to the massive obstacles in his way. That was until he lost all confidence when he found himself on the edge of a gap.
Ofcourse the kidnapper, successfully made their way through the gap by jumping on the laundry lines. But for the green ninja, he was scared and unsure of the idea. There was people up there, observing his every move. If he falls, he will not only earn bruises or cuts on his already clean gi, but rather, manage to embarrass himself in front of people that thought so highly of their beloved green ninja. "You can do this Lloyd...you've done some similar training before." He tries to encourage himself. He took a few steps back and sprinted, gaining a little bit more of air time. He leaped just as his feet were off the roof. His jump wasn't graceful but it wasn't the worst, his gloves hands instinctively grabbed the thin laundry line, praying to the first spinjitzu master, it doesn't break. To his surprise it didn't and he continued to jump and swing through the thin lines.
However, once he was about 5 centimetres away from the kidnapper, he noticed they took a ladder for some extra boost. The boy narrowed his eyebrows as he took a deep breath. Differently from the laundry lines, the ladder had more space to land on. He moved his figure to the back and the fourth, slowly causing him to swing himself back and fourth. His vision changed every time depending on how high he was going, but his one destination stayed fixed on own place. It didn't change. The metallic ladder itself. When he felt like he was high enough, his palms let go and landed on the ladder. Not exactly on the ladder, but more, his hands gripped tightly on the edge of the metallic object. "A-Ah!" His feet kicked, hopefully to give him an advantage to get back up. That only made the ladder move back and forth. It wasn't stable and just after, the green ninja realized a screw unscrewed. The green ninja's figure was soon suddenly pulled to the ground, as he realized he was falling.
But it refused. The green ninja was saved. He looked up at his saviour and saw they were holding on his wrist. Who was it though? His answer was soon answered as he was pulled up on the rooftop of an apartment. His eyes shot open as he realized that his saviour was the nodded figure from before. It was the so called kidnapper of the princess. He raised his hands in defence and also in sign that he wasn't afraid to hurt that person. "Who are you?" His eyebrows narrowed. The hooded figure removed their hood right away. Lloyd's eyes widened as he found a familiar person in front of him. "Princess?!" His jaw dropped in surprise. The princess stayed silent and gave off a cute smile. His sight turned to the bag. "Then who's in the bag?" he inquired, hoping that the princess wasn't actually a kidnapper.
"You mean what's in the bag." She paused to open the filled accessory. It revealed loads fruits and vegetables. "Food for the less fortune ones." she said kindly as she closed the bag again and placed it on her back. "I thought you were in there. I was trying to save you." Lloyd said ashamed. The princess giggled. "Oh so that's what it was?" She paused to lean a bit on her current posture. "Seems more to me that I was the one saving you." She said cutely. Lloyd looked away, his cheeks burning up. The princess grabbed a shirt from a nearby laundry line and passed it to Lloyd. "Here wear this, so that you won't be easily recognized." She says.

As they hop down to the calmest and less fortune waste lands of the city, Lloyd observes in awe as all children came running to Harumi. She has definitely been here before if almost everyone was familiar with her. She opened her bag and chuckled. "calm down my children, there's enough food for everyone." She passed about two fruits each. The hungry left satisfied. The green ninja followed her as she kept passing down the remaining food left in the bag. At one point, he even helped. For example, he gave the massive pineapple to two little girls who seem to be very glad of his grateful offerings.
When the bag was completely empty, the two headed towards a bridge. The sky was darkened, happy cheers from the kids were heard in the background, the water flows were calm and people enjoyed their tour on small canoe. Harumi stared out in the distance. "So I never meant to ask, why did you leave your room? I thought you got kidnapped due to the state of your room-" he was cut off by the princess giving him an embarrassed look. "Ah yes, i apologize, I tend to be rather disorganized even for me." She covered with a small chuckle of innocence. Lloyd shook his head. "Not just that, but there was smoke coming out from it? Like you burned something inside." He pointed out. The princess's lips stayed frozen together, like she didn't want to explain why she had to burn the drawings of Lloyd and the ninja.
"Oh that? Well Hutchins gave me scented candles not a long while ago. I only decided it was best to try them out." She lied. Even for a princess and having a total think time of seven seconds, she could think of excuses rather quickly. That's when the green ninja finally believed her. "Alright seems reasonable." he nodded, smiling. Harumi pulled the muscles in her lips to smile back at him however, she wasn't in the mood to smile at such a man. But being a good actress, she did pull it off. Lloyd felt his heart throb. "So do you still think I got kidnapped? " she smirked and grabbed on her hood.
"I am not only someone agile in roof jumping but I'm also an evil princess kidnapper! Mwahahaha!" She raised her hands up into a jokingly terrifying look. That made the green ninja chuckle a little. She was right, there's no such thing as princess kidnappers in his reality. That's just in fairytales. "I think we should head back...Princess-?" The blonde was interrupted by the princess taking her hood off.
"Please, call me Rumi."
~~~
"Alright Rumi." He offered to help her get down the bridge. So he extended his own hand towards her. Harumi's Eyes slightly widened before she blushed and placed her hand elegantly in his. Lloyd's heart fluttered as he secured her landing from the bridge. The two teens were about to make their way back to the palace until they heard a few rattling and screeches coming from the opposite direction of where they were supposed to go to head back. They couldn't deists not to see what was going on for the noise concerned them. The two teens both turned their heads and spotted three men around one teen and one kid. They seemed scared and intimidated by the three men who were later identified as members of the Sons of Garmadon. However, Harumi called them as the: SOG. not being bothered to waste her energy in pronouncing their gang name. The three SOG members seem to be beating up the kids.
Lloyd, being the green ninja, offered to help them. "We should help them. This isn't right." he took out his iron sword from his back-sword holder. But Harumi stopped him by pulling on his arm. Sending him back slightly, back close to her. "Don't. Our goal is to not at all cause attention plus, we don't want to get hurt in the process." Rumi explained, making sense in his head. Lloyd say there, with no action. It kinda bugged him but it was the princess of Ninjago. He felt like it was an order to not disobey. As they observed the scene, they heard a small somewhat fuse get fired. They didnt know where it came from until a huge mec in navy and white come from the skies and landed in front of the three bullies. It was Samurai X.
Whoever it was, they climbed out of their mec and was faced with three armless guards. Well one had a wrench but that wasn't really too menacing to someone who had two dual golden swords. With one blow, the three bullies were knocked out cold and the two victims cheered. Finally saved from the SOG members. Harumi growled under her breath. How dare Samurai X knock out her minions like that? If she didn't have to play this façecade of a princess, she would have defeated Samurai X all on her own as revenge. No one should mess with the SOG guards. "Who was that?" Harumi asked curiously. Lloyd shrugged. "It's the Samurai X. We still don't know who they really are though." He said honestly.
Rumi looked down. She needed to talk with her fellow generals about who this Samurai X person was. She tugged on his sleeve. "Lloyd, go back to the palace. You might get in trouble." She urged. Although it was true that he'd be in trouble, he would be in even bigger trouble if he was back without the princes. "No way, I'm not leaving without you! Please Rumi-" he was cut again by her placing her palm on his mouth, shutting his lips together. "Please Lloyd, Trust me." She begged. He sighed. He couldn't argue with a princess. "Be safe, please?" Was all he asked before he ran off.
She smiled and waved at him. His figure was slowly distancing itself from her the faster he ran off. Man these ninja were quick. "I know this place like the back of my finger Lloyd, don't you worry." She muttered before walking off the opposite direction and snuck under a subway. The hideout of the SOG.
