Chapter 16: THE BATTLE IS TIME TO BEGIN!
Lloyd, already rested, got out of bed, stretching his muscles. The boy yawned and looked at the alarm clock, which was on the nightstand next to the bed. 10.30 p.m.
Lloyd took a slow step into the living room, which was connected to the kitchen. Everyone was sitting in the living room, explaining the last steps of the plan.
- Oh look, who is awake!- laughed Kai, noticing Lloyd standing in the door frame.
- Good evening.- he said quietly with a weak smile. Everyone greeted the boy and sat down on the couch or poufs.
- So, what's the plan.
- The plan is simple. The knights will surround the hospital, so that no one can escape. We, meanwhile, will move in and take cover. We will set off half an hour early to arrive and take up positions. Once the council moves in and this encounter with the traders happens, we will strike. If there are problems, we'll call in the knights, for support. - Cole, as deputy team leader, explained.
- It will be a piece of cake. - Jay said.
- Still, don't underestimate them. There's no telling how powerful they are, carrying the Golden Weapons. They also have (T/N) and her abilities on their side. - informed Wu in a serious tone.
- And we, as usual, have to do the worst job. - muttered Aaron angrily. He didn't know, Lloyd had heard him.
- Sorry, guys. Unfortunately, but you guys...
- Yeah, yeah! We have no power! We're useless, I get it. - Aaron growled at him.
- 'Clay's coming with you, while you wait. - ordered Cole.
- Of course. As usual. - hissed Aaron and left the living room with a quick step. He left the flat and rushed on his hovershield through the city streets, which were empty.
- 'Is he okay?- asked Kai, looking out the window at the leaving knight.
- 'Yeah. It's just, he's missing the action and the adrenaline. - replied Lance.
- 'All right, let's get moving. There's no time to waste. - ordered Lloyd.
- Good luck, ninja. - said Wu.
- Wait! Aren't you coming with us?- asked Jay.
- No. This is your fight, go ahead. - replied the Master with a sigh.
They all reluctantly nodded their heads and left the flat. They summoned their elemental dragons and flew towards the hospital with knights. Aaron also arrived at the site and lay on his stomach and watched the abandoned building from the hill.
The elemental dragons landed in front of the building and their riders jumped off their backs and quickly stepped through the door, which was open inside. The knights scattered and waited for action.
Inside, the ninjas walked through the empty, dingy corridors, looking around. The hospital no doubt inspired fear and discomfort in the hearts of the ninjas.
Suddenly, plaster fell from the ceiling and hit the tiled floor with a bang. The ninjas jumped out of their skin and squealed.... Mainly Jay.
- AAAA!!! - he screamed in fright. Kai quickly closed his mouth with his hand and hissed at him to be quiet.
- This place is scary. How am I not supposed to be scared!!!?- shouted Jay to him in a harsh whisper.
- Quiet. We need to move on. The meeting will most likely be on the second floor, let's go. - ordered Lloyd, climbing the staircase to the second floor.
Corridors, corridors and more corridors. This building was like a veritable labyrinth, just in time for some kind of horror movie set starring ghosts.
The building was as dark as a tomb and as cold as a morgue. The power had been out for a long time, so it was hard to find your way around. Kai, Cole and Lloyd took out special torches and looked around at their surroundings. Zane scanned the structure of the building with his eyes for some other living thing.
- Jesus... I'm scared to be here. - admitted with fear in his voice Cole.
- Yeah, I second that! Something will probably jump out at us soon. Don't the bad guys have a better place to have business meetings than creepy abandoned hospitals! - said a frightened Jay.
- 'There's nothing to fear. My sensors have not detected any, other human life in this building. - stated Zane, completing his analysis.
- 'So, we're alone here?- said Kai.
- Yes. I just said that. - Zane replied.
All five ninjas fell silent, still looking around at their surroundings. Suddenly the silence was broken by a shrill screech, coming from the communicators. The ninjas jumped up in fear, gasping.
- Guys. We see our target, they are entering the building. - Clay's voice rang out, waiting for their entrance.
- How many are there?
- Six. Including two snakes and... some kind of humanoid dragon? - spoke up a confused Aaron, looking at the dragon from a distance.
- Peacebreaker. - replied Lloyd anxiously.
- Hey! They're after us! Take cover! - cried Kai in realisation, quickly looking around for hide.
- Here. Into the ventilation shaft. - said Cole, pulling out the grating and entering the tunnel.
The rest of the ninja followed him, and Zane, who entered last, put the grating back in. Moments later, the council of the Crystal King entered the second floor, shining torches as they looked around at their surroundings.
- 'Woah, this place is creepy. - admitted the Mechanic with a shudder.
- Not only, is it as dark as a tomb, it's as cold as in a fridge. - growled Vangelis.
- Yes. I feel like I'm in that ghastly tomb again. - hissed Pythorem in agreement.
- Shut your mouth. - hissed Peacebreaker, looking around irritated at his surroundings.
- Annoyed, Peacebreaker? - mocked Harumi.
- 'No, not at all, let's get this over with. - she growled in response, still looking around nervously.
The humanoid dragon began sniffing the air for clues of the ninja. After a while, she smelled the scent of cologne and cookies... with chocolate. Peacebreaker felt a sadistic smile creep onto her face and she laughed under her breath.
- Let's go this way. - she said, walking down the left corridor. The rest followed her without hesitation. The ninjas from the ceiling watched the council and through the shaft began to follow them.
They reached a large room that was most likely a waiting room. There was nothing here, only chairs banged around the room. The windows were broken or boarded up. The door to some room was closed.
Through a grille in the ceiling ventilation shaft, the ninjas looked at the council. They quietly drew their weapons and looked at each other with a determined gaze.
Peacebreaker heard the rasp of a sword and glanced up at the ceiling, seeing the shadow of five heads.
- Lights...camera and... - she mumbled to herself, as her hand reached for the handle of the blade.
Suddenly, the flap of the ventilation shaft fell to the floor with a clang, sending up a mass of dust. The council began coughing and reached for the Golden Weapons.
The ninjas jumped down and faced the enemy with their weapons drawn.
- Ninja!!!? - cried out the shocked council.
- It's over, Harumi. The end of your antics!- shouted Lloyd, directing his hostile gaze at the girl.
- We'll see about that yet, Lloyd. - she growled at him with a smile on her face.
LIGHTS... CAMERA... ACTION!!!
