Kai's p.o.v

A year has past since I was diagnosed with Glaucoma. My sight has deteriorated to half of what it was. Now, I have to ware shades whenever I leave the house.

I'm coming to the park, Nya is asleep and I see some of my friends. Going over, I come up behind Conner. "Hey Conner, sup." I say. None of them turn to me. I tap Conner on the shoulder. He turns "oh hey Kai, when did you get here." Conner says.

"I called for five minutes, I've been here for three." I tell hem. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you." The way he says it, it breaks my heart.

"Yeah, we did. We've decided to exclude you from the group." Dalton said. And I know why. "And incase you wondering why, we don't want to be friends with a blind person. So get, bey, see ya." I turn and run.

Tripping on the rised play area, I fall and face plant the dirt. Laughs sound as I get up. I run, tears falling and I bust through the door.

Mom and dad look at me as I run past and slam my bedroom door shut. Dad comes in and he combs my hair. "They...they rejected...me. Cause....I'm blind." I sob. Dad rubs my back.

He picks me up, we go to the shop. I look around as he goes to the back. He comes back with a pole. "Its almost done, what would you like edged into it." He says. "Our names." I tell dad.

Dad's hands lights on fire and I stare in amazement. He laughs, holding his hand out. I touch the fire and I purr at the warmth. "I'm the master of fire and you are my secsesscer. That just proved it. How'd it make you feel." Dad asks, starting the engraving.

"It was warm. Full of life and it made me feel safe. Like when I'm with y'all." Dad smiles, he dips the pole in water and hands it to me.

"It's foldable so you can take it anywhere." I hug dad and he returns it. Going back to the house, mom kisses my hair and we sit down to eat.

The next day, I'm in the park swinging on the swing. A shove from behind has me eatting sand. Conner jacks me up and pouches my eye. "This is our turf..." Conner is shoved.

"Leave hem alone."
