Kai's p.o.v ( 3 years old)

Mom and dad have a surprise for me. I'm playing with some of my friends, mom and dad are at the doctors. I stop as my eyes begin hurting again, Mr.Blake comes over as I wrip my eyes. "What the matter, little man." I shake my head, he picks me up and sets me on a bench.

"Got sand in your eyes, buddy." I nod. Mr.Blake tilts my head back and pours some water on my face. I shake my head as Mr.Blake picks me up. "Let's get you home buddy." I bury my head in his neck.

We get home, mom and dad are there and dad takes me. My eyes are flushed out and mom walks over. She holds a bundle in her arms and she lays it in mine. It's a baby girl.

"Say hi to Nya son." I hold my baby sister close. The weeks that follow, my head and eyes grow in pain. Nya starts crying and I go to get her. Coming to her room, I start getting dizzy. Stumbling, I trip on the rug and slam into the book shelf.

Footsteps come, dad's blurry image in my vision As he kneels beside me. He picks me up, mom Nya and we head for the doctors.

I have shades on to help with the light. Mom holds my shoulder as I hold Nya. Dad stands as the doctor comes in the room.

"We ran the tests and I wish I had better news. The hardest part of my job is right now. Kai here has Glaucoma. It's a disease of the eyes.

"There's many why's this can come about. dilating eye, dropsblocked or restricted drainage in your eye, medications, such as corticosteroids, poor or reduced blood flow to your optic nerve, high or elevated blood pressure.

"Kai here has reduced blood flow to his eyes." Miles said. "Meaning what. Can it be treated." Dad asks. "Glaucoma is untreatable. Kai will lose all his sight. All I can recommend is living it like the day was your last." Miles said.

We get up and leave. That night, I hold Nya to me and ponder the future. I'll never see my sister grow up. Dad comes and gets us, laying us in their bed.

I close my eyes, but don't go to sleep right away.
