Welcome Baby Lily
" Lloyd, I got a gift for you. Merry Christmas!" Mia exclaimed, handing Lloyd a nicely wrapped gift.
Lloyd looked at it with a raised brow. " Uh .... It's not Christmas."
" Yeah, but I just wanted to give you something. Anyway, it's also rumi's. So don't fight. Anyway, gotta go! Byeeee!* She disappeared promptly.
Rumi came from the next room. " What is this I hear about a gift?" She asked, walking in and kissing Lloyd on the cheek.
Lloyd blushed. " Mia gave us an early Christmas gift. But knowing her it might be a prank.
" Prank or not pretty wrapping." She opened the box, and peeked in.
A blanket.
" How cuuute." She cooed, handing it to Lloyd.
Then she took out a.....
" Binkie?!"
She threw the other stuff out- bottles, a stuffed teddy, and onesies.
" This is all baby stuff " she muttered, confused. Lloyd hesitantly took off the last blanket.
Under all that stuff was a baby
A real life baby
" AIEEEEE!" Rumi yelled, jumping into Lloyds arms and wrapping her arms around his neck.
Lloyd held her bridal style. " Well that's just great. You're fifteen, I'm sixteen. We have a kid. A baby "
" Maybe it's not ours?" Rumi asked as she took out a birth certificate.
Lloyd scanned it. " Looks like she's ours. See?"
Name- Lily Montgomery Garmadon
Time- 5:03 AM
Date-
Parents - Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon and Rumi Jade
Lloyd and Rumi stared at the birth certificate in disbelief, their faces a mix of shock and confusion. The baby, swaddled in a soft blanket, cooed and waved her tiny hands, seemingly oblivious to the chaos she had caused.
Lloyd gently set Rumi down, his expression turning serious. "Okay, this is definitely a surprise. But we need to figure out what to do next."
Rumi, still clutching Lloyd’s arm, nodded in agreement. "How did Mia even get a baby to us? And why did she think this was a good idea?"
Lloyd sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Mia’s always full of surprises. I guess she thought this was a fun prank, or maybe she just wanted to give us a taste of parenthood. Either way, we need to take care of this."
Rumi took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Alright, let’s start by getting the baby settled. We should probably find out where she came from and if there’s someone looking for her."
Lloyd nodded and carefully picked up the baby, holding her gently. "Let’s check if there’s any information with her or if there’s someone who can help us understand this."
As they looked through the remaining items in the box, they found a note addressed to them. Rumi unfolded it with trembling hands and began to read aloud:
“Dear Lloyd and Rumi,
Surprise! I thought you might enjoy an early Christmas present. This is Lily, a little bundle of joy who’s here to add some excitement to your lives. I know you might be a bit shocked, but don’t worry—she’s in good hands. Take care of her, and she’ll bring you lots of happiness.
Love, Mia.”
Rumi’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Mia knew about this all along? She planned this entire thing?”
Lloyd shook his head in amazement. “Looks like it. But we need to focus on Lily right now.”
Rumi nodded and took the baby from Lloyd, cradling her gently. “Alright, let’s get her settled. We should also find out more about her and see if there’s a way to contact whoever sent her.”
Lloyd glanced around, still trying to process the situation. “We’ll need to get some supplies and maybe call for help. This is definitely not something we can handle alone.”
Lloyd and Rumi, still adjusting to their new reality, made their way to the dojo where Kai was diligently training. The rhythmic clashing of Kai’s fists against the training dummies echoed through the room as Lloyd and Rumi approached.
Kai, sweat glistening on his forehead and lips but, paused when he saw them. "Hey, Lloyd, Rumi. What’s up?"
Lloyd cleared his throat, trying to sound casual despite the gravity of their situation. “Kai, we need your help. It’s kind of an emergency.”
Kai, concerned, lowered his guard and wiped his brow with a towel. “What’s wrong? You both look a bit frazzled.”
Rumi, clutching the baby tightly to her chest, took a deep breath. “We received an unexpected gift from Mia. It’s a baby. We’re not sure what to do or where she came from, but we need you to give her a check-up.”
Kai’s eyes widened in surprise. “A baby? You’re serious?”
Lloyd nodded, his expression serious. “We found her in a box with some baby clothes and a birth certificate. We’re a bit overwhelmed and thought you might be able to help, given your medical skills.”
Kai, ever the professional, nodded and approached them. “Alright, let’s have a look.”
As Kai gently took the baby from Rumi’s arms, he examined her with practiced care. He checked her vitals, listened to her heartbeat, and made sure she was healthy. The baby cooed softly, seemingly content.
While Kai was busy, Jay, who had been training nearby, spotted the commotion and walked over. His eyes widened as he saw the tiny bundle in Kai’s arms. “Whoa, is that a baby? What’s going on?”
Lloyd turned to Jay, trying to maintain his composure. “Jay, meet Lily. Mia somehow decided we needed a baby, and now we’re trying to figure out what to do.”
Jay’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion and concern. “Isn’t Rumi a bit young to be taking care of a baby? I mean, she’s fifteen, right?”
Rumi’s face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and frustration. “Jay, it’s not like I planned this. We’re just trying to do the best we can under the circumstances.”
Lloyd stepped in, trying to diffuse the situation. “Jay, if you want to know about age and responsibility, you should ask Mia. She’s the one who thought this was a good idea.”
Jay frowned but nodded. “I guess you’re right. But still, it’s a lot to handle.”
Kai, having finished his check-up, looked up with a reassuring smile. “The baby seems to be perfectly healthy. Just needs some care and attention. You’re doing fine, Rumi.”
Rumi sighed in relief and took Lily back from Kai. “Thank you, Kai. That helps a lot.”
Lloyd patted Rumi on the back. “We’ll manage. We just need to get some supplies and figure out our next steps.”
Jay, still looking concerned, offered a sympathetic smile. “Alright, if you need any help or advice, just let me know. I can try to help you figure things out.”
Rumi nodded gratefully. “Thanks, Jay. We really appreciate it.”
As the group made their way out of the room, Lloyd turned to Rumi. “Let’s get some supplies and maybe find out more about where Lily came from. We need to make sure she’s well taken care of.”
Rumi agreed, still holding Lily carefully. “Yes, let’s do that. And hopefully, we can get in touch with Mia soon to get some answers.”
Lloyd and Rumi, now equipped with a list of baby essentials and a sense of cautious optimism, decided to call Mia for some answers. They found a quiet corner in the dojo and dialed her number. The phone rang a few times before Mia’s familiar voice answered.
“Hello? Mia speaking.”
“Hey, Mia,” Lloyd said, trying to keep his tone steady. “We need to talk.”
Mia’s voice was cheerful but curious. “Oh, hi Lloyd! What’s up?”
“We found your gift,” Rumi began, her voice tinged with both confusion and annoyance. “And we need to know why you gave us a baby.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Mia responded. “Well, I thought you two wanted to start a family.”
Lloyd’s eyes widened in surprise. “How did you know that?”
Mia’s response was nonchalant. “Oh, come on, Lloyd. You two have been talking about it for a while. I just wanted to help you get started.”
Rumi blinked, clearly stunned. “You knew?”
Mia chuckled. “Of course! I might not be all-knowing, but I do listen. Besides, I figured if I could give you a push, it might be a fun way to help.”
Lloyd shook his head in disbelief. “But this is a bit... extreme, don’t you think?”
“Maybe,” Mia admitted with a light laugh. “But I thought it would be a memorable way to get things rolling. Plus, she’s a lovely little girl. I’m sure you’ll do great.”
Rumi took a deep breath, trying to process Mia’s nonchalant attitude. “So you’re saying this was all part of your plan?”
Mia’s tone was playful. “Kind of. I wanted to give you something meaningful. And what better way to start a family than with a surprise baby?”
Lloyd and Rumi exchanged bewildered glances. “Well,” Lloyd said, trying to wrap his head around the situation, “we appreciate the gesture, but we’re still trying to figure out how to handle this.”
Mia’s voice softened. “I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Just remember, you’ve got each other and the support of your friends. If you need anything else or have questions, just let me know.”
“Alright, Mia,” Rumi said, trying to sound calm despite the whirlwind of emotions. “Thanks for the call and the... unique gift.”
Mia laughed again. “Anytime! Good luck with Lily. I’m sure you’ll be great parents.”
With that, the call ended, leaving Lloyd and Rumi to process Mia’s unexpected but well-meaning gesture. They looked at each other, a mix of amusement and apprehension in their eyes.
“Well,” Lloyd said, trying to lighten the mood, “looks like we have a new adventure ahead of us.”
Rumi nodded, holding Lily close. “Yeah. And I guess we’ll take it one step at a time.”
" First step - introduce her to the others." Lloyd chuckled. " Boy, are they gonna be surprised."
" Especially your dad. He was in your case to start a family, wasn't he?"
Lloyd nodded. " Yep. We should tell the new grandparents first."
Rumi giggles. " Your dad is gonna be so happy "
" And emotional." Lloyd mumbled.
