Tiger rescue

" You take Emma! I'll get Mia!" Jay called to Kai, who grinned and nodded. Jay ran close to his sister leaped for her, enveloping her in a hug as they rolled on the ground.
" Hey!" Mia laughed as she clutched onto his gi. " That's cheating!"
Jay shook his head, holding her close to his chest. " No, it's called catching your sister who has a hint of lightning in her."
Mia laughed. " You know you're also fast because you're the lightning elemental!"
Jay chucked as he picked her up in his arms. " Yeah, I know."
Annie came in, twirling her bag with a serious expression. " So.... I just heard there's an animal."
Mia's ears perked up, and Jay set her down. " What?!"
Emma, who was going to be caught by Kai, froze. " Where?"
Rose came running in, breathless. " Forest Avenue!"
Emma's eyebrows shot up. " That's the street name! What animal could need help on the street?!"
The girls shot her a look.
" A scared tiger cub trying to get to it's mother." Rose replied.
Emma squealed. " Big kitty!"
Mia's eyes widened with excitement, her previous laughter now replaced with a sense of urgency. "We have to help!" she exclaimed, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
Jay, still holding onto her arm, looked at her with a raised brow. "A tiger cub? Forest Avenue? Are you sure this isn't one of those pranks again?"
Rose shook her head. "No prank this time, Jay. I heard it on the news, and people are calling in for help!"
Kai walked up next to Emma, who was still grinning at the thought of a "big kitty." He sighed and crossed his arms. "Alright, I guess we're going on an animal rescue mission now, huh?"
Mia gave him a determined look. "Of course we are! That cub needs us!"
Jay chuckled. "Well, count me in. I've always wanted to see a tiger up close. But we should be careful—it's not exactly a house cat."
Annie, who was still twirling her bag, nodded. "We need a plan. It's a tiger cub, which means the mother is probably nearby. We can't risk getting caught in a dangerous situation."
"Good point," Kai agreed. "Let's figure out how we're going to do this without ending up as tiger snacks."
Emma, still in her own world, suddenly gasped. "Can we name it?!"
Mia groaned and rolled her eyes. "Let's focus on saving it first, then we can talk about names."
With the group now on board, they quickly gathered what they needed and headed out to Forest Avenue. As they approached, they could hear the distant growls and whimpers of the tiger cub, and the group slowed down.
"There it is," Rose whispered, pointing to a small, trembling cub huddled behind a bush.
Mia's heart melted as she saw the little tiger. "Aww, it's scared."
Jay nodded. "Let's get this cub back to its mom before things get worse."
Mia looked at the others. " Emma, you're with me. Kai, Annie, when we rescue the cub, make sure it's not injured. Rose, Jay, lookout duty."
They nodded, and set off to work.
Mia slowly inched her way to the cub, talking soothingly to the cub. " It's okay," she whispered. " Come to Mia."
She kissed a few times, but it only scared the cub more. She turned to backup.
" You're up." She said, and Emma squealed.
Annie, watching Emma, looked at Kai. " Think she'll get it?"
" I know so." Mia replied as she approached them. " If there's anyone who loves cats more than me, it's Emma. She literally goes into the forest every week and talks to the cats and stuff."
" Doesn't she get hurt?" Kai asked, concern creeping in his voice.
" No. Not really. They see her as a friendly person." Annie comforted the fire ninja.
" I got Lilac!" Emma called, and everyone turned to see the cub in her arms, snuggled close.
" She's the cub of a tiger I know well. We have to return her!"
" But first, we examine her." Kai said as he took his black gloves off and picked a tool from the van. " Em, could you hold her up here?"
Emma nodded and with Mia's hands help as a step, sat down on the examination bed with the cub in her arms.
As Kai carefully examined the cub, Mia tilted her head, curious. "How do you know her name is Lilac?" she asked, watching as Kai listened to the cub's heartbeat with his stethoscope.
Emma smiled, stroking the cub's soft fur. "I see her every week when I visit the forest. She and her mom are always nearby. I've gotten to know them pretty well."
Kai glanced up briefly while checking the cub's eyes. "Sounds like you've made some interesting friends out there," he commented, focusing back on the cub. "Heartbeat's steady, eyes are clear. She seems fine, just a little shaken up."
Rose, who had been on lookout duty, walked over and crossed her arms. "So, Emma should be the one to return Lilac to her mom, right?"
"That makes sense," Annie added. "If the cub trusts anyone, it's her."
As Kai examined Lilac's paws to check for any injuries, Emma continued, "Her mom's name is Winter. She's a beautiful white tiger. Lilac's been staying close to her since birth, but sometimes she wanders a little too far, like today."
Mia smiled at the story, but her worry for the cub remained. "So, Winter's not far, right? We should get Lilac back to her before she starts freaking out."
Kai nodded, satisfied with his examination. "No injuries. She's good to go."
Emma gently picked Lilac up and looked around. "I'll take her. Winter's probably already looking for her."
"Need backup?" Jay asked, stepping closer, still on high alert.
Emma shook her head confidently. "Nah, I've got this. Winter knows me. She'll recognize that I'm helping."
"Be careful, okay?" Mia added, giving her a nod of encouragement.
Emma grinned. "Always!"
With that, she cradled the cub and set off down the trail, the others watching as she disappeared into the forest, off to reunite Lilac with her mother.
Emma ventured deeper into the forest, Lilac nestled securely in her arms. The cub's soft purrs of contentment contrasted with the tension of the moment. Emma took a deep breath and prepared to use a special call she had learned from her frequent visits.
She closed her eyes, channeling all her affection and respect for the tigers into the call. With a deep breath, she let out a sound that was a mixture of a roar and a melodic, inviting tone. It reverberated through the trees, a familiar and comforting signal to the tiger family.
Lilac's ears perked up at the sound, and she licked Emma's face affectionately, as if sensing the reunion was near. Emma smiled, feeling the warmth of Lilac's tiny tongue against her skin.
Moments later, a rustling in the underbrush signaled the approach of Winter. The large, elegant white tiger emerged from the shadows, her keen eyes scanning the area. When she spotted Lilac, her expression shifted from concern to relief.
Winter let out a low, rumbling growl—part greeting, part gratitude. She padded forward quickly, and Lilac wriggled with excitement as she was gently placed on the ground. The cub darted towards her mother, who nuzzled her tenderly.
Emma watched with a heart full of joy, her own smile widening as she saw the reunion. "See you in two days, Lilac!" she called out, waving. "Be careful!"
Winter looked at Emma with a gaze that seemed to convey a silent thanks, then turned her attention back to her cub. The family shared a few more affectionate nuzzles before Winter led Lilac deeper into the forest.
Emma watched them disappear into the greenery before turning to head back to her friends. The forest felt quieter now, the danger having passed, and she knew she'd made a difference.
Mia approached Emma with a proud smile, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Good job with the big kitties," she said, her voice warm with appreciation.
Emma chuckled, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "They're tigers, silly."
Annie, who had been standing nearby, couldn't help but add with a teasing tone, "Says the one who called tigers big kitties back at the monastery."
Mia shot a playful hiss in Annie's direction, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Loosen up, girl. You know I was just trying to be cute!"
Annie rolled her eyes but grinned nonetheless. "Sure, sure. Just don't let the tigers hear you calling them that."
Emma laughed, shaking her head. "At least they're safe now, right?"
"Yep," Mia agreed, giving Emma a friendly nudge. "And we helped them. That's what matters."
