" Hey, Emma?*

" Yeah?*

" Uhhhh.... Just a question."

" Ask away."

" Is it only me or is there a skull in the sky?"

Emma looked up from her canvas and blinked. " Wait what?!*

Annie, who had been peacefully reading, frowned at Mia. “Mia, what are you talking about?”

Mia, still staring wide-eyed out the window, pointed dramatically. “THAT!”

Emma and Annie rushed over, pressing their faces against the glass. Sure enough, hovering ominously in the sky, was the faint outline of a massive skull, swirling in the clouds like some kind of creepy ghostly warning.

Emma's eyes widened. “Okay. That’s definitely a skull.”

Annie squinted. “Maybe it’s just… a weird cloud?”

Mia scoffed. “Annie, do normal clouds have glowing red eyes?”

Annie blinked. “...I mean, I’d hope not.”

Blackie yawned from his spot on the bed. “Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was your fault, Mia.”

Mia gasped, scandalized. “EXCUSE ME?!”

Emma, still staring out the window, slowly reached for her sketchpad. “I dunno, guys. Should we be worried? Or is this, like… normal ninja stuff?”

Mia huffed. “I dunno, Emma. I may be a ninja, but even I don’t wake up expecting a floating doom skull outside my window.”

Annie bit her lip. “Maybe we should tell the others…”

Before Mia could agree, the door suddenly BURST open, and Kai stormed in, looking half-panicked, half-annoyed. “Okay, who messed with the weather?!”

Mia pointed at the window. “Look at it, Kai! That is NOT natural!”

Kai groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Great. Just great. Floating skulls. That’s exactly what we needed today.”

Blackie flicked his tail. “I repeat: this is probably Mia’s fault.”

Mia threw her hands in the air. “WHY DO YOU KEEP BLAMING ME?!”

Emma leaned toward Annie. “Should we get popcorn?”

Annie nodded. “Oh, definitely.”

Emma popped a handful of popcorn into her mouth, watching the chaos unfold with wide eyes. “This is better than a movie,” she muttered to Annie.

Annie, casually sipping a juice box, nodded. “Right? I mean, look at them. Kai’s about two seconds away from lighting something on fire.”

Indeed, Kai was pacing angrily, gesturing wildly at the window while Jay, Cole, and Lloyd debated whether this was a real threat or just some weird weather anomaly.

“I’m telling you,” Jay insisted, “skulls don’t just appear in the sky for no reason!”

Cole crossed his arms. “And I’m telling you, maybe it’s just a coincidence.”

Lloyd facepalmed. “Since when has anything in Ninjago been a coincidence?”

Meanwhile, Zane was calmly analyzing the situation. “The probability of a skull-shaped weather formation appearing naturally is less than 0.02%.”

Kai groaned. “THANK YOU, ZANE! SEE? IT’S NOT NORMAL!”

Mia, standing with her arms crossed, finally had enough. She turned sharply toward Emma and Annie. “If you’re gonna stand there, at least help out!”

Emma blinked, mid-chew. “Help? With what?”

Mia gestured wildly. “I dunno! Maybe figure out what’s causing the creepy floating doom skull?!”

Annie, still sipping her juice, shrugged. “We could, but honestly, this is way too entertaining.”

Emma nodded. “Yeah, I mean… look at Jay. He’s stress-eating. That’s peak drama right there.”

Sure enough, Jay was shoving a granola bar into his mouth, muttering about how he didn’t sign up for floating evil sky signs.

Mia groaned. “Ugh, you two are useless!”

Blackie, from his perch on the bed, flicked his tail. “Now that’s something we can all agree on.”

Suddenly Emma's eyes widened. " Wait."

Annie screeched. " NO!"

Mia turned to her friends. " Oh no."

And with that they took off.

Emma skidded to a stop in the doorway of her house, panting. “Morro!”

Mia and Annie crashed into her from behind, nearly sending all three of them tumbling over.

Morro, sitting calmly at the kitchen table, slowly lowered his glass of tomato juice. He arched a brow at them, completely unfazed. “Yes?”

Mia pointed an accusing finger at him. “Did you put a giant skull in the sky?!”

Morro took another slow sip of his juice, smacking his lips before answering. “Maybe.”

Emma’s eye twitched. “Morro.”

Morro shrugged. “Okay, yes, but hear me out—”

Mia threw her hands up. “Oh my gosh! You knew we were freaking out, didn’t you?!”

Annie crossed her arms. “Let me guess. This is some ghost thing you forgot to mention?”

Morro leaned back in his chair, smirking. “I wouldn’t say I forgot. More like… didn’t think it was important.”

Emma groaned. “Morro, a giant skull appeared in the sky! That’s important!”

Morro waved a hand dismissively. “It’s just a harmless omen.”

Mia squawked. “Harmless?! Do you know how long it took to calm Kai down?! He was about to set the base on fire!”

Morro blinked. “Huh. Sounds like a him problem.”

Emma grabbed his tomato juice and dramatically placed it on the counter. “No more juice until you explain.”

Morro gasped, clutching his chest. “Emma! That’s just cruel.”

Mia rolled her eyes. “Oh, boo-hoo, ghost boy. Spill it.”

Morro sighed. “Fine, fine. It’s a warning, okay? Some big-shot spirit from the Cursed Realm is trying to send a message. No big deal.”

Annie tilted her head. “What kind of message?”

Morro took a deep breath, then said casually, “Oh, you know. The typical ‘I’m-coming-to-destroy-you-all’ kind.”

The room fell silent.

Mia pinched the bridge of her nose. “Of course it is."
