Molly meets Annie

" Jay, calm down.*

" Calm down? CALM DOWN?! MY BEST ARM IS BROKEN INTO PIECES AND YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN?!

Kai winced. " Jay you just dislodged it."

" B... But.... This is my right arm! My best arm! The arm I use for everything!"

He gasped. " If this arm is gone, I'm gonna be dead! How will I be able to eat and write and draw and put clothes on an-"

" Buddy would you please trust me?!*

Kai sighed deeply, rubbing his temple as he watched Jay spiral into a full-blown panic. Jay's face was flushed, his eyes wide with exaggerated fear, clutching his right arm as if it had already fallen off. Kai had seen this level of drama from Jay before, but it never ceased to amaze him how quickly his brother-in-law could jump to the worst conclusions.

"Jay, listen to me," Kai said calmly, though his patience was wearing thin. "Your arm is not broken into pieces. You just dislodged it. It's a simple fix."

But Jay wasn’t listening. He was already pacing, one hand cradling his supposedly ruined arm. "No, no, no! You don’t get it! This is my right arm, Kai! My best arm! The arm I use for everything!" His voice wavered with panic as he rambled on. "How will I be able to eat? How will I be able to draw, or write? Oh no, oh no! How am I supposed to dress myself?!"

Kai winced as Jay’s voice rose another octave. "Jay, please—"

"Wait!" Jay gasped dramatically, eyes widening even further. "How am I supposed to fight bad guys if my best arm is broken?! What if we’re ambushed and I can’t throw punches because I’m down one arm?! What if I can’t fire off any lightning? I’ll be useless, Kai! Useless!"

Kai groaned, knowing that letting Jay continue on like this wasn’t going to help the situation. Jay was spiraling fast, and his anxiety was building like a tidal wave. Before Jay could launch into another string of frantic what-ifs, Kai stepped forward, grabbing Jay gently by the shoulders.

"Buddy, would you please trust me?!" Kai’s voice was firm but not harsh, trying to break through the whirlwind of thoughts in Jay’s mind. "I’m telling you, your arm is fine. You dislocated it, that’s all. I can fix it in just a few minutes if you’d stop freaking out and let me help."

Jay blinked rapidly, his breath coming in short bursts. "But—"

"No 'buts,' Jay," Kai interrupted, keeping his hands steady on Jay's shoulders. "I’m a trained ninja, and I know what I’m doing. I’ve dealt with dislocated joints before. This isn’t the end of the world, okay?"

Jay swallowed hard, still looking unconvinced. His eyes darted to his arm, which he was holding as if it were made of glass. "But... what if it is broken? What if something worse happens when you try to fix it?"

Kai let out a slow breath, meeting Jay’s gaze. "It’s not broken. And nothing worse is going to happen, I promise you." He released Jay’s shoulders and knelt down beside him, gently taking hold of his injured arm. "I just need you to trust me. Can you do that?"

Jay hesitated, biting his lip as he watched Kai carefully assess the injury. His mind was still racing, but something in Kai’s calm voice made him pause. "I... I guess. But it still hurts."

"It’ll feel better once I put it back in place," Kai assured him. "Now, take a deep breath for me. In and out."

Jay did as he was told, his breath shaky but at least somewhat steadier than before. He kept his eyes squeezed shut, clearly bracing for the worst.

"Alright," Kai said softly, positioning Jay’s arm. "On the count of three, okay?"

Jay’s eyes shot open. "Wait! You’re not gonna—"

"One... two..." Before Jay could finish protesting, Kai expertly popped the dislocated joint back into place with a quick, fluid motion. There was a soft pop and a brief moment of discomfort.

"Three," Kai finished with a small grin, releasing Jay’s arm as gently as possible. "All done."

Jay’s eyes widened in shock. He blinked, flexing his arm cautiously. "Wait... that’s it?!"

Kai nodded. " That's it."

Jay stared for a second before jumping into Kai's arms. " You did it!"

Kai caught him and pat his back. " Yeah, buddy. I did."

" Molly, this is Annie. Annie, Molly.*

Annie nodded politely. " Good afternoon, Miss Molly. How do you do. It is a pleasure to meet you.*

Mia had to bite her lip to keep from laughing out loud.

Molly smiled. " It's also a pleasure meeting you, Annie. I've heard great things about you."

Annie's cheeks reddened. * Oh?" She squeaked as she glared at Mia

Molly noticed. " Oh, don't worry. She said good things, like how you love to plan ahead ten months and love everything to be detailed but not too detailed like Mia."

Annie nodded. " Yeah, because HER detailed is perfection and overdressing and embarrassing her brothers."

Molly chuckled. " We should talk more inside."

Mia nodded and took her shoes off and wiped her feet on the map before entering. Annie mimicee, trying to land a good first impression.

As soon as they stepped into her house, they realized her favorite color was green.

Green walls, green doors. Even green furniture.

" If your nephew were here he would have gone crazy." Annie muttered.

Mia giggled.

Molly led them to the living room, where tea and biscuits were set up

The living room, like the rest of the house, was a tribute to Molly's love for green. The soft hue of the walls contrasted nicely with the darker shades of the furniture, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The tea set on the coffee table gleamed, the polished silver reflecting the afternoon sunlight streaming in through the window.

Mia immediately noticed the biscuits, her eyes lighting up. She nudged Annie playfully. "I hope you like tea," she whispered with a grin.

Annie, still trying her best to make a good impression, gave a small smile and nodded. "Of course. I love tea."

Molly gestured for them to sit down on the plush green sofa. "Please, make yourselves comfortable. I thought we'd have a little snack before we get started." Her voice was warm, and her smile felt genuine, putting both Mia and Annie at ease.

As they settled into their seats, Mia couldn’t help but look around. She had always known Molly had a taste for a specific aesthetic, but seeing it in full force was something else. "You really love green, don’t you?" she said with a chuckle.

Molly laughed softly, pouring tea into the delicate cups. "You could say that. I’ve always found it calming. Plus, it reminds me of nature."

Annie, still feeling slightly out of her element, politely sipped her tea. "It’s lovely. Very... cohesive," she offered, trying to sound complimentary. Mia bit her lip to hold back another giggle.

Molly smiled at Annie’s attempt. "Thank you, dear. I know it’s a bit much for some, but it makes me happy."

Annie nodded, more at ease now. "Well, I can definitely see that. It feels very... you."

Mia, who had already taken a biscuit, leaned forward mischievously. "Annie here is a pro at making spaces cozy, too. But she’s much more of a ‘neutral tones and minimal clutter’ type."

Annie shot Mia a quick glare but quickly recovered, giving Molly a small smile. "I just like things... clean and organized," she said quietly, trying not to offend.

Molly laughed again, waving a hand. "Oh, don't worry! Everyone has their own style. That’s what makes it fun."

Mia, clearly enjoying the back-and-forth, leaned back into the sofa. "I think we should combine both your styles one day. Green overload with perfect minimalism. It could be revolutionary."

Annie rolled her eyes. "Or disastrous."

Molly chuckled as she sipped her tea. "Either way, it sounds like an interesting challenge."

They continued chatting, with Mia playfully teasing Annie, and Molly chiming in with stories of her own adventures in decor. Soon, the tension from the earlier introductions faded away, and the atmosphere became light and comfortable.

After a while, Molly set her cup down, her eyes twinkling. "Now, shall we talk about what brought you here today? I’m quite curious."

Mia sat up, glancing at Annie with a sly smile. "Well, Annie here has some plans she’s been working on. Really detailed plans, of course."

Annie blushed slightly, but she nodded, sitting up straighter. "Yes, I’ve been organizing an event, and Mia thought you might be interested in helping us with some of the... finer details."

Molly raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? What kind of event?"

Mia smirked. "Think big. Like... wedding big."

Annie blushed furiously, shooting Mia another glare. "It's... not a wedding. But it’s an important celebration, and we could really use your help."

Molly’s eyes sparkled with excitement. "Well, now you’ve got my attention. I love a good celebration. Tell me everything!"

Annie hesitated for a moment before launching into an explanation of the event. Molly listened intently, occasionally offering ideas and suggestions. Soon, the three of them were deep in conversation, bouncing ideas back and forth as they planned and plotted.

By the time the tea had gone cold and the biscuits were nearly gone, they had a full outline in place. Molly, clearly excited to be involved, clapped her hands together. "This is going to be wonderful! I can already picture it."

Annie, though still a bit flustered, couldn’t help but smile. "Thank you for your help, Miss Molly. I think this is really going to be special."

Molly waved a hand, smiling warmly. "Oh, don’t mention it. I’m just glad I could be part of it. And please, call me Molly."

Mia grinned, looking between Annie and Molly. "Well, I think we’ve officially found our dream team."

" Just one question." Molly asked.

Annie looked. " Hit me."

" Where and when is this all going to happen?"

Mia and Annie grinned. " Tomorrow." They said simultaneously.
