Grounded

Mia groaned as she hung upside down from her bed. " What am I supposed to doooooooooooooooooooo? It's sooooo boooooooooring."

" Pika pi."

You need to rest

" No I don't! I need to stay active!"

" Char!"

You can stay active by resting!

Mia let out a sigh. " Do one of you want to go in the garden, take hand in hand, and spin around?"

" Bulba bulba?"

Like in the fairy tales?

Mia smiled. " Yep."

Pikachu, Charmander, and Bulbasaur exchanged glances, trying to figure out if Mia was serious.

Pikachu crossed his arms and sighed. "Pika pika pi," he muttered.

You really should be resting, not spinning in the garden.

Mia groaned again, still hanging upside down. "I'm soooo restless though! I need to do something or I'm going to go crazy."

Charmander looked thoughtful for a second, then shrugged. "Char char," he said with a smirk.

If it'll help, why not?

Bulbasaur nodded eagerly. "Bulba bulba!"

We can try it, if it makes you happy!

Mia grinned, flipping off the bed and landing on her feet, surprising her Pokémon. "Great! Let's go, gang! A little spinning around won't hurt anyone!"

The Pokémon followed Mia out into the garden, where the sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a magical glow around the place. Mia grabbed Bulbasaur's vine with one hand and Charmander's claw with the other, while Pikachu hopped onto her shoulder.

"Ready?" Mia asked, excited.

"Bulba!"

"Char!"

With a burst of laughter, Mia spun around, her feet twirling in the grass as she swung her Pokémon companions in a circle. The wind picked up, and their laughter filled the garden.

After a few dizzying moments, they all collapsed onto the grass, Mia panting and giggling.

"That... was... amazing," she said between breaths.

Pikachu shook his head but smiled. "Pika pi," he whispered, cuddling against her cheek.

At least she was smiling.

"Bulba bulba!" Bulbasaur exclaimed as he rested on Mia's lap.

"Char char!" Charmander agreed, looking up at the clear sky.

Mia grinned. "See? Resting doesn't always have to be boring."

Just then, Jay had  walked through the Monastery gates.  Mia perked up, jumped, and came running up to him, practically bouncing with energy.

"So...?" Mia asked eagerly, her eyes wide with excitement.

Jay blinked, confused. "Uh, so... what?"

Mia crossed her arms, looking at him impatiently. "What did you do? Who did you fight? Did you win? Tell me everything!" She started firing off questions, barely giving him a chance to answer. "Was it an epic battle? Did you use your lightning powers? Did you take down a whole group of bad guys? Did Nya help? Did—"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Jay interrupted, holding up his hands, trying to slow her down. "What's with you?"

Mia stopped, tilting her head. "What do you mean?"

"You're acting all... hyper," Jay said with a raised eyebrow, noticing how Mia was buzzing with energy. "Weren't you supposed to be resting or something?"

Mia huffed. "Resting is boring! I needed to hear something exciting!" She gave him a hopeful look. "So, come on, Jay. Give me something good!"

Jay laughed, shaking his head. "You're unbelievable, Mia." He ruffled her hair playfully. "Alright, alright. If you really want to know, yeah, we had a mission. Nothing too crazy though."

Mia's eyes lit up. "But you won, right?"

"Of course!" Jay grinned. "When do we not win?"

Mia fist-pumped the air. "Knew it! You're the best, Jay!"

Jay chuckled, a little surprised at how pumped Mia was. "Seriously though, what's going on with you? You're way more hyper than usual."

Mia shrugged with a mischievous smile. "Just been cooped up too long. Gotta live vicariously through your battles!"

That night, when the whole monastery was quiet, and everyone was fast asleep, the faint sound of a bell rang softly in Mia's room. Without hesitation, Mia's eyes shot open. She quickly reached over, silenced the alarm, and slipped out of bed. Moving with practiced stealth, she grabbed her gear and headed for the window, careful not to wake anyone.

As she was about to jump out, a pair of glowing eyes from the corner of the room watched her every move—Charmander. He raised an eyebrow, watching Mia tiptoe out of the window like she had done many nights before.

"Char... char?" he whispered to himself, concerned but used to seeing her sneak off.

Mia shot him a quick, knowing look. "Shhh," she whispered, pressing a finger to her lips before jumping out the window. Charmander sighed softly, shaking his head, but he didn't alert anyone. He knew Mia was determined, even if it worried him.

Once outside, Mia landed silently on the ground and sprinted into the night, ready to take on whatever crime needed stopping. She grinned to herself, feeling the rush of excitement course through her. "Time to move," she whispered.

Little did she know, Charmander, though still inside, was pacing. He had a feeling tonight might not go as smoothly as Mia expected.

So he did the one thing he knew best- wake Pikachu.

With a determined flick of his tail, he nudged the sleeping animal awake.

"Pika... pika?" Pikachu mumbled, blinking sleep from his eyes. His expression quickly shifted to annoyance as he realized what time it was. "Pika pi!"

 This is getting ridiculous!

Without wasting another moment, the two Pokémon dashed toward the window, their little feet pattering on the floor. They jumped out, following the sound of distant commotion echoing through the night.

As they approached the scene, they could see Mia in the middle of a chaotic brawl with a group of villains. She was fighting fiercely, her kicks and punches flying with a precision that belied her fatigue. Charmander's eyes widened in alarm. "Char...!" he exclaimed, which translated to Oh god, this is bad!

Pikachu, his ears perked up, watched with disbelief. "Pika... pika!" he squeaked, signaling his concern for Mia.

This isn't how it should be!

Mia was throwing punches left and right, clearly fueled by adrenaline, her hair whipping around her face. "You think you can mess with my city? Not on my watch!" she shouted, delivering a roundhouse kick that sent one of the villains sprawling backward.

One of the thugs laughed mockingly. "Look at her! She's exhausted! What's she going to do, fall asleep on us?"

That only fueled Mia's fire. "You don't know who you're dealing with!" she retorted, launching herself at another thug. She dodged his swing and landed a solid hit to his gut, making him double over in pain.

Pikachu glanced at Charmander, who was nervously pacing back and forth. Pika pika!" Pikachu insisted, his cheeks sparking with electricity.

We have to help her!

"Charmander!" he replied firmly, his determination shining through his small stature. They needed to get Mia out of there before she overexerted herself.

With that, Pikachu launched himself into the fray, sparking electricity in his cheeks. "Pika pi!" he shouted as he zapped one of the villains, causing him to jump back in surprise.

Mia turned, momentarily distracted by the shock. "Pikachu! What are you doing here?" she yelled, a mix of annoyance and relief flooding her voice.

"Pika!" Pikachu responded, zapping another thug who had tried to sneak up on Mia.

I'm helping!

"Char!" Charmander chimed in, charging up and launching a small fireball at another group of thugs. You need to be careful!

Mia smiled, grateful for her friends' support. "Thanks, guys! But I can handle this!"

But as another thug lunged at her, Mia stumbled slightly, her fatigue catching up to her. Just then, Charmander dashed in front of her, growling protectively. "Char!" he shouted, signaling that he wouldn't let anyone hurt her.

"Alright! Let's finish this!" Mia shouted, feeling empowered by their presence.

The villains exchanged worried glances, realizing they were outmatched. "Let's get out of here!" one of them shouted, and they turned to flee.

Mia, panting but victorious, turned to her friends. "See? I told you I could handle it!"

Pikachu shook his head. "Pika... pi!" he scolded gently, reminding her to take care of herself.

"Yeah, yeah," Mia said, rolling her eyes but smiling. "Next time, I promise I'll rest more. Let's head home."

When Mia and her Pokémon finally returned home, they were met with an unexpected sight: Jay, Lloyd, Nya, Kai, Cole, Zane, and even Master Wu were waiting for her, arms crossed and expressions serious.

“Mia!” Jay exclaimed, his voice a mix of concern and frustration. “We need an explanation for what just happened out there!”

Mia slapped her forehead dramatically. “Okay, who was it?” she asked, a hint of annoyance creeping into her voice.

“Bulba bulba,” Bulbasaur chimed in, trying to communicate the urgency of the situation.

Mia’s eyes widened as she processed his words. “Wait, they put security cameras everywhere?!” she yelled, her frustration boiling over.

“Uh, yeah,” Zane confirmed, adjusting his glasses. “We were just trying to keep an eye on things, Mia.”

“you're not being reasonable, Mia!” Lloyd added, trying to keep his tone calm.

“Well, you’re becoming a selfish group!” Mia shot back, her voice rising. “You don’t think of me, ever! I can handle myself! So let me be!” With that, she stormed out of the room.

“Pika…” Pikachu said softly, looking concerned as he watched her leave.

“Mia!” Jay shouted after her, but she was already gone.

Lloyd sighed, running a hand through his hair. “This isn’t going to end well.”

“Someone needs to talk to her,” Nya said, her brow furrowing in worry.

“She’s just overwhelmed,” Kai noted. “We need to give her space but also let her know we’re here for her.”

Master Wu nodded thoughtfully. “It’s important she knows she’s not alone, even if she feels like she can handle everything on her own.”

Pikachu looked up at the group, his eyes filled with concern. “Pika… pika?” he murmured, wondering how they could reach Mia before she got too far.

“Let’s go after her,” Jay suggested, determination in his voice. “She needs us now more than ever.”

They found Mia hanging upside down from a tree, her legs wrapped around a branch while she sighed dramatically. Blackie sat beneath her, looking up with a disgruntled expression.

“Mia, I want my tuna,” Blackie said, his voice filled with impatience.

Mia rolled her eyes. “Blackie, I just gave you food!”

“That was an hour ago!” Blackie shot back, tail flicking in annoyance.

“You’re very spoiled, you know that?” Mia replied, shaking her head as she tried to keep her balance.

“Thank you,” Blackie said with a smirk, clearly pleased with himself.

Mia sighed again, letting herself swing gently. “What do you want me to do, Blackie? Cook a five-course meal?”

“I want food! I want food! I want food!” Blackie insisted, pacing in circles beneath her.

“Alright, alright! You win!” Mia said, finally flipping down from the tree with a thud. “Let’s get you something to eat.”

As she stood, she heard a rustling behind her. The others had finally caught up.

“Mia!” Jay called out, relief flooding his voice. “We were worried about you!”

Mia crossed her arms defiantly. “I’m fine! Just dealing with a very spoiled cat.”

“Yeah, I can see that,” Nya said, chuckling. “But maybe we should all head back together?”

Mia nodded, finally conceding. “Okay, but only if Blackie promises to stop whining.”

“Deal!” Blackie replied, his eyes shining with mischief.

As they walked, Blackie's voice pierced the air. “MIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I WANT FOOD!!!!”

Mia groaned, rubbing her temples. “I heard you the first time, Blackie!”

Jay couldn’t help but chuckle. “Looks like someone’s not getting their way.”

“Yeah, and it’s going to be a long walk if he keeps this up,” Kai added, smirking.

Blackie trotted beside them, dramatically flopping onto his back. “Mia, you’re cruel! I need sustenance!”

“Cruel? You just had food!” Mia retorted, trying to keep a straight face.

“An hour ago!” Blackie countered, rolling onto his paws. “A cat needs more than just one meal!”

Zane, trying to remain serious, suggested, “Perhaps we should stop and get him something. It might save us the headache.”

Mia sighed, conceding. “Fine! Let’s find a snack before he wakes the whole neighborhood.”

“Pika pi!” Pikachu exclaimed, nodding in agreement.

“Char!” Charmander added, bouncing in excitement.

After they finally found a snack for Blackie, Mia crossed her arms, staring down at her cat. “Are you happy now?”

Blackie licked his paws, a satisfied grin on his face. “Yes! But now I want a turkey.”

Mia blinked, incredulous. “WHAT?! A turkey? Where do you think we are, a restaurant?”

Blackie shrugged, nonchalantly. “Well, a cat can dream, can’t he?”

“Seriously?” Mia exclaimed, throwing her hands up. “You just had food! What’s next, a five-course meal?”

“Why not?” Blackie replied, his eyes sparkling mischievously. “I deserve it for putting up with you.”

“Ugh!” Mia groaned, rolling her eyes. “You’re impossible!”

“Pika pika!” Pikachu chimed in, trying to suppress a giggle.

“Char!” Charmander added, clearly amused.

Mia sighed, knowing deep down that she wouldn’t hear the end of this. “Alright, let’s get you a turkey. But you better not expect dessert!”
