Hello people

" Awwww, wook at the whittle ferret wewwet." Emma cooed. " She's sooooo cuuuuute!"

Mia laughed. " I knew you were going to say that! Too bad Ann's not here."

" She had stuff to do. I mean you can't really blame her, can you?"

" No. You can't." Mia agreed. " But still. She would have loved this cutie."

The ferret let out a soft coo, one which made Emma give the ferret the cutest look ever. " Let's name her!"

" Name her.... What?"

" Something really cute!"

" Like?"

" Uh.. How about.... Eevee?"

" Eevee, huh?"

The ferret looked interested.

Emma grinned. " Your cousin gave me the idea."

Mia sighed. " Okay, okay, fine. Eevee it is."

" Yeaaaaah!"

Mia shook her head and sighed as she looked out the window on their rescue center island.

Emma had named it ' Rescue Center Island'.

No, seriously.

I'm not joking.

The other option was " Klinkclangalangalang."

Try saying that out loud five times fast.

Just then, Blackie strolled in, yawning. " What's going on in here?"

Emma giggled. " We have a ferret!"

Blackie curled on the counter. " How charming."

Mia laughed as she scratched his chin. " Don't worry. Bee. You're not forgotten."

" And I expect I don't."

The ferret let out a curious sound, and Blackie opened his eye.

" Not really. Humans are actually pretty stupid people."

Mia blinked. " What?!"

Blackie stretched lazily, his tail flicking with nonchalant sass as he fixed Mia with a smug look. "You heard me," he purred. "Humans are stupid. You stumble over yourselves, you fall for adorable eyes"—he gestured to the ferret—"and, let's face it, you have terrible naming skills. Eevee? Really?"

Emma gasped, clutching the ferret closer. "Eevee is a perfect name!"

Blackie yawned dramatically, his fangs glinting in the light. "Perfectly unoriginal. But go ahead, revel in your mediocrity."

"Blackie!" Mia crossed her arms, glaring at her sassy cat. "Why do you always have to ruin the moment?"

"Ruin? I'm simply elevating it. You're welcome," Blackie replied, curling into a ball but keeping one eye on the ferret. "Besides, the little fur noodle will probably grow bored of you in a week."

Emma huffed. "She will not! Look at her—she loves us already." She held Eevee up triumphantly, as if the ferret were Simba being presented to the Pride Lands.

Eevee let out a high-pitched squeak, clearly enjoying the attention, and wriggled in Emma's hands.

Blackie flicked his tail dismissively. "Adoration doesn't equate to intelligence. But fine, enjoy your little rodent. Just don't blame me when it chews through the couch."

"She's not a rodent; she's a ferret," Emma corrected, stroking Eevee's soft fur. "And she's going to be a part of this team!"

"Oh, joy. Another team member to get fur all over the furniture," Blackie muttered.

Mia chuckled, leaning against the counter. "You're just jealous."

"Jealous? Of a creature with the brain capacity of a walnut?" Blackie scoffed. "I'm insulted you'd even suggest that."

Emma narrowed her eyes at Blackie. "You know, for someone so smart, you sure act like a grump."

Blackie smirked. "Grump or genius? The line blurs when you're this superior."

Before Emma could retort, the door burst open, and Annie rushed in, holding a clipboard. "Guys, we've got a situation—"

She froze mid-sentence, her gaze landing on Eevee. "Uh... Why is there a ferret in here?"

Mia grinned. "Meet Eevee. Our newest team member!"

"Eevee?" Annie blinked, then glanced at Blackie. "You okay with this?"

Blackie lifted his head dramatically. "I'm not okay with it, but since when has anyone cared about my opinion?"

Annie sighed. "Right. Of course." She turned back to Emma and Mia. "Anyway, the situation—there's a stray dog causing a commotion near the docks. Some tourists are freaking out."

Mia perked up. "A rescue mission?"

Emma gently placed Eevee in a cozy corner with a blanket. "Let's go! Eevee can stay here and get used to her new home."

As they all started heading out, Blackie stretched and called after them. "Don't forget! When you fail miserably, I'll be here to say 'I told you so.'"

Mia shook her head, laughing. "You're impossible, Blackie."

"And yet, you adore me," Blackie replied with a sly grin, curling back into his spot.

Eevee squeaked softly, curling into her blanket. For now, the ferret was content, unaware of the chaos this team always seemed to attract.

As Mia, Emma, and Annie made their way to the docks, the island's peaceful atmosphere was replaced with the sounds of chaos. Shouting voices, the whimpering of a dog, and the clanging of metal greeted them as they neared the scene.

"Looks like a full-blown panic," Mia muttered, her eyes scanning the area. "Tourists, huh?"

Emma tightened her grip on her bag, looking determined. "I've got this. Let's keep things calm."

Annie nodded, flipping her clipboard open and scanning the notes. "The dog's spooked. It's probably been abandoned or lost. We need to get him calm before we can help him."

Mia raised an eyebrow. "Aren't we the ones that are supposed to be freaking out here? Shouldn't they be dealing with it?"

Annie gave her a sideways look. "You don't exactly do well with situations that aren't under your control."

"Hey!" Mia protested, but she smiled. "I'm fine when things go my way."

Emma stepped forward, her voice soothing as she approached the frightened dog. It was a medium-sized mutt, with a scruffy coat and wide, nervous eyes. "Hey there, buddy," she cooed softly. "You're okay, we're here to help."

The dog's ears flicked nervously, and it backed away a few steps, still unsure of the new humans approaching.

Mia sighed. "Great, another shy one. I'd rather take on a hundred ferrets than deal with this."

Annie shot her a glare but then turned her attention back to the dog. "We need to approach slowly. Just give him time to trust us."

As Emma crouched down, reaching out with one hand, the tourists around them finally quieted down, realizing they weren't in immediate danger. The dog hesitated but took a cautious step forward. Emma held her breath, praying the dog wouldn't bolt.

It took a few tense seconds, but then the dog sniffed her hand and allowed Emma to gently stroke his fur. "Good boy," she whispered, continuing to calm him.

Mia crossed her arms, looking over the scene. "See? No big deal. Told you guys I had this."

"You mean we had this," Annie muttered under her breath, still keeping a wary eye on the dog.

The dog finally relaxed, his tail giving a slow wag as he licked Emma's hand. "Look at that," she said, smiling brightly. "He's coming around."

Mia couldn't help but grin. "Alright, alright, I'll admit it. You guys know what you're doing."

Annie shook her head, chuckling. "It's teamwork, Mia. You should try it sometime."

Before Mia could respond, the sound of a voice echoed from behind them.

"Is it over yet? Can we go home now?" Blackie called, having sauntered up to the group with an air of supreme indifference. "Honestly, I was expecting some real drama. I'm disappointed."

"Not now, Blackie," Mia groaned, her patience wearing thin. "Just... let us do our thing, okay?"

Blackie smirked, his tail flicking lazily as he approached the dog, his eyes narrowing. "What's the deal with this mutt? You guys sure you know what you're doing?"

The dog, still nervous, whimpered and tried to back away again. Blackie smirked again, his eyes glinting mischievously. "See? Not impressed."

Emma, who had been trying to reassure the dog, shot Blackie a look. "Don't scare him, Blackie."

Blackie shrugged, unbothered. "I'm not scaring anyone, except maybe you guys. But I'm sure you'll be fine." He eyed the dog again, adding, "If he freaks out again, don't blame me."

"Just stay out of the way, Bee," Mia said with a sigh, rolling her eyes.

But Emma, surprisingly, spoke up. "Maybe Blackie's right. This is taking a lot longer than it should. Maybe if we—"

Before Emma could finish, the dog, seemingly exhausted by the whole ordeal, finally stepped forward, resting his head on Emma's lap in a sign of trust.

Mia raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Looks like you were right after all."

"Well, it's not like I didn't predict it," Blackie added, flicking his tail dramatically.

Emma smiled, stroking the dog's head gently. "I think we've made a friend here."

Mia glanced at Annie. "Alright, guess this one's a success. What now?"

"We take him back to the rescue center," Annie said, marking something on her clipboard. "Get him some food and water, check him for any injuries, and find out if he's chipped. If not, he's going to need a new home."

The tourists, now calm, started to disperse, relieved that the situation was under control. Mia looked back at Emma and nodded toward the dog. "Looks like Eevee's gonna have some competition, huh?"

Emma laughed, adjusting the ferret in her arms. "We'll see. But I think this dog's gonna fit right in."

As they started back toward the rescue center, Blackie trailed behind them, still in a sulk. "Fine. Just don't say I didn't warn you."

And so, as the team headed back, the newest addition to their little crew was already starting to settle in. Emma, Mia, and Annie couldn't help but smile, knowing that this mission had been a success, despite Blackie's endless sass.

"Look at that," Mia said, "we saved the day... again."

Emma chuckled, "You know, Mia, maybe you do have a heart somewhere in there."

Mia shot her a smirk. "Maybe. But I don't need to show it to anyone."

And with that, they continued onward, ready for whatever would come next.
