Dislocated Leg
Annie do you like how you look?
And The_Sage_Ninja_Morro you like how Emma looks?
... Yeah DumbassWriter17 sorry about your face
It just conveyed how stressed you were because you have to
Plan a birthday party for your husband
Plan another birthday party for yourself
Take Snowball to the vet
Make sure to get the groceries
And a bunch of other stuff
Anyway
Also whatever happened I'm Jay my mom's Kai
Because this has happened
When I was four or something
And I'm telling you I have a bunch of random fears
Like the vacuum in the pool
And the drain
And snakes
And spiders
And falling from a tree
And getting in trouble
And getting kicked in the head
And presenting in front of a bunch of people
And failing
And dying
And getting my room taken from me
And getting forgotten
And getting kicked out of my house
And getting metal limbs ( no offense to those who have it. I don't WANT one of those
But I had a person on one of my classes with those so I'm fine with being with them
Having one is the problem
That also happened to me when I sprained my arm in flag football
I thought I would need an amputation
Ok that's a lot of things I'm afraid of
And that's just the start
But I should stop before I bore you guys
" Easy Jay. Easy." Kai softly said as he took a band aid out of its wrapper and putting it on his glove. " You'll be fine."
Jay, who was crying, shook his head. " Kai it cracked! My leg snapped in half!" He exclaimed.
Kai shook his head. " You dislocated your leg, Jay. That's it."
Jay shook his head. " No it's broken! Now I'm gonna need an operation to put it together and I'm gonna need a metal bone and... And... And...."
Kai chuckled softly and placed a reassuring hand on Jay’s shoulder. "Jay, listen to me. It’s not broken, alright? You just dislocated your leg. It’ll hurt for a bit, but no surgeries, no metal bones."
Jay was still sniffling, clearly unconvinced. "But it felt like it snapped! What if something’s wrong and you missed it, and then my leg gets all twisted and—"
"Jay," Kai interrupted gently, trying not to laugh at his friend's spiraling imagination, "I’m the one with the doctor experience here, remember? I’ve already checked it thoroughly. You’re going to be fine."
Jay wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, still looking uncertain. "You promise?"
Kai gave him a soft smile. "I promise. Just a little rest and you'll be back to running around in no time."
Jay sniffled again but nodded. "Okay… but if my leg turns into metal, I’m blaming you."
Kai laughed, securing the bandage on Jay’s leg. "Deal. But trust me, no metal legs are happening today."
" Okay, I need you to hold your breath and count to three."
Jay scooted away. " You're gonna put amnesia in me won't you?"
Kai's brows furrowed at what his in law said. " Pardon?"
Jay was still scooting away.
Kai looked at Jay, thoroughly confused. "Amnesia? What are you talking about?"
Jay kept scooting away, eyes wide with suspicion. "You know, like in the movies! You're gonna knock me out, and then I'll wake up and forget everything, and next thing I know, I’ll have no memory of my entire life!"
Kai blinked, then sighed, rubbing his temples. "Jay, I’m just asking you to hold your breath so I can fix your leg. No amnesia, no memory loss, nothing like that."
Jay narrowed his eyes, still not fully convinced. "You promise? No funny business?"
Kai gave him a flat look. "Jay, the only thing I'm trying to fix is your leg, not erase your memories."
Jay hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "Alright… but I’m watching you."
Kai shook his head, amused. "Sure, Jay. Whatever helps you sleep at night."
" Now, just take a deep breath. And told it in."
Jay gulped. " One last thing."
Kai raised a brow. " Hit me with it."
" You're not gonna pull a needle out last second and tell " tricked you!" And put it in me will you?"
Kai sighed deeply, clearly trying to keep his patience intact. He knelt next to Jay, who was sprawled on the examination table, his leg awkwardly twisted, his face flushed with panic. Jay's eyes darted nervously from Kai's hands to his own leg and back again, convinced that Kai was about to spring some terrible surprise on him.
"Jay," Kai said softly, trying to maintain his calm, "there is no needle. No surprises. I'm not gonna trick you. I just need you to breathe, okay? Focus on your breathing."
Jay didn’t look convinced. He squirmed on the table, still clutching his leg like it might fall off if he let go. "But what if—"
"No 'what ifs,' Jay. Look at me," Kai interrupted, his tone more firm this time. Jay reluctantly met Kai's gaze. "I'm your brother-in-law, remember? I'm not here to trick you. I'm here to help. Now, stop thinking about needles and amnesia and just focus on getting better."
Jay blinked, still unsure. His breathing was shaky, his thoughts running wild. "But I saw this thing once, on TV, where the doctor said it wouldn’t hurt, and then—bam! Needle right in the arm. And, Kai, I'm not built for needles. I can handle anything else—lightning blasts, fighting bad guys—but needles? No way!"
Kai rolled his eyes, trying not to laugh at Jay’s dramatics. He put a hand on Jay's shoulder and squeezed lightly. "You’re overthinking this. I promise you, no needles are involved. It’s just a bandage, some pressure on the joint, and maybe a bit of discomfort while I pop it back into place. That’s it. Nothing more."
Jay bit his lip, clearly trying to calm down but still trembling with anxiety. "You’re sure? You’re really sure?"
Kai nodded, holding up his hands to show Jay that he had nothing hidden. "Positive. No needles, no tricks. I swear on my ninja honor."
Jay stared at him for a long moment before exhaling shakily. "Okay...okay, fine. But if you try anything sneaky, I'm calling Nya."
Kai snorted. "You can call her all you want, but she’ll just laugh at you for being such a baby about this."
Jay’s face twisted into a pout. "Hey, I’m not a baby! I just have—" he hesitated, searching for the right words, "a very healthy fear of anything sharp and pointy."
Kai grinned, but there was a kindness behind his teasing. "Right, well, this is neither sharp nor pointy, so you’re good."
Jay took another shaky breath, eyeing Kai’s movements as he gently took hold of his leg. "Okay, just—be careful! I need that leg! It’s my best leg!"
Kai chuckled softly. "Both your legs are your best legs, Jay. Now hold still."
Jay winced, gripping the edge of the table as Kai gently positioned his leg, his hands steady and sure. "This might feel a little uncomfortable, but it won’t take long," Kai reassured him. He slowly started rotating Jay’s leg, finding the right angle to reset it.
Jay’s knuckles turned white as he held his breath, his eyes tightly shut. "I don’t like this...I really don’t like this."
"You’re doing fine," Kai murmured, focused on his task. "Almost there."
Jay opened one eye, peeking down at his leg. "It doesn’t look better! It still looks broken!" His voice rose in panic again.
Kai shook his head. "It’s not broken, Jay. Trust me."
Jay’s breath came in short gasps as Kai prepared to pop the dislocated joint back into place. "Okay, on the count of three, I need you to breathe out, alright?" Kai instructed.
Jay nodded weakly. "Okay...okay, I can do that."
"One...two..."
Before Jay could react, Kai swiftly adjusted his leg with a quick, practiced motion. There was a distinct pop, followed by a surge of discomfort that made Jay yelp.
"Three!" Kai finished, grinning as he gently released Jay’s leg. "See? All done."
Jay’s eyes widened as he stared down at his leg. "What? You did it? It’s back?"
Kai chuckled. "Yeah, it’s back. Told you it wasn’t as bad as you thought."
Jay blinked, then let out a long sigh of relief. "Oh, thank the First Spinjitzu Master... I really thought I was gonna lose the leg for a second there."
Kai shook his head, laughing softly. "Jay, you’re always so dramatic. It was just a dislocation. You’ll be sore for a few days, but you’re not losing any limbs."
Jay leaned back, still clutching his leg protectively, but clearly relieved that the ordeal was over. "Well, it felt like it was way worse. I mean, you didn’t see what it looked like before. It was all twisted and wrong and—"
Kai raised an eyebrow. "I did see it. I was the one who fixed it, remember?"
Jay shrugged sheepishly. "Yeah, okay, fine. But still, you have to admit, it was pretty bad."
Kai rolled his eyes again, standing up and packing away his supplies. "You’re fine, Jay. Just take it easy for a few days and don’t do anything reckless."
Jay grinned, already seeming to bounce back to his usual self. "Reckless? Me? Come on, Kai, you know I’m always careful!"
Kai shot him a look. "Uh-huh. Sure. The same guy who electrocuted himself trying to fix a toaster last week?"
Jay flushed slightly. "That was a small mishap. Totally different."
"Right," Kai replied with a smirk. "Just... stay off that leg for a bit, okay?"
Jay waved a hand dismissively. "Yeah, yeah, I’ll be careful. I’m just glad I don’t need a metal bone or anything."
Kai shook his head, chuckling as he headed toward the door. "No metal bones. Just rest up, Jay."
As Kai reached the door, Jay called after him, "Hey, Kai?"
Kai turned around, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
Jay gave him a small, genuine smile. "Thanks. For, you know... not putting amnesia in me or anything."
Kai laughed softly. "Anytime, Jay. Anytime."
